This album was a huge success for her, I remember in the late 90s you couldn't go to any club without hearing multiple tracks from it being played. When I was young.... LOL.
@@MrEricSevert I would've loved to have been a young adult between the late 80s through the late 90s. Everything was fun. Not like how my generation is today. Everything is just a vibe.
@@SFBenjaminKIf you want humongous ballads and a bunch vocals acrobatics, go listen to her several albums from the 80s and early 90s. Whitney was comfortable here and this album was a huge success. She did well.
Even recovering from a bad cold, she still sang beautifully. Not saying she wasn't high but for everyone under the age of 35, Whitney used to sweat on stage before the drugs. Kelly Price & Faith Evans really blessed this track. R.I.P to one of the greatest ❤
Not trying to a downer I ABSOLUTELY LOVE WHITNEY HOUSTON but according to Robyn Crawford Whitney was doing coke in her teens so when she signed with Arista and started making money I am sure she party a little I mean Robyn visited her mother in the late 80s warning her about Whitney’s drug use and Whitney was young 25 or 26
@@dobazajr oh a performer can’t sweat after a performance? She did do Heartbreak Hotel before sitting with Rosie! I mean I know she admittedly did drugs but not every time you saw her sweating means she was doing drugs 🙄!
Could have been …. but the studio lights are very hot & she had a long sleeve suit on which looked like most like a non-breathable material. These two things would make anyone sweat if you’re prone to it. I’ll give Whitney the benefit of doubt here, because we really don’t know.
Being a Whitney fan and being very familiar with her behaviors and also knowing her story. She likely wasn't high. She has always been a very energetic and expressive person. As far as the sweating some people sweat a lot and she has always sweat a lot. Not saying the drug usage didn't exasperate the issue. Although it's possible she did a line or two lol cuz studios are usually pretty cold and she is sweating a lot.
I have some things to say on this comments… a comment which was a pointless observation, frankly, regardless of whether or not you’re a recovering addict. I would honestly expect more from someone who’s admitting on RU-vid they’re a recovering addict. Are you having fun with Whitney or bashing her? I mean, shit, Rosie was pretty hyper and animated all the time. Every guest. What if she was stoned? Acting silly? Drinking a bit? Nobody ever said that… who knows, there are even “overweight” tweakers in this world, and Rosie does act a little hyper sometimes…girl! She hanging with Tina back then? What?! Never know! I’m just kidding by the way. 🤣 But for real… why cant we just enjoy the show? Have fun with the interview! Whitney, as we know, was highly intolerant of stupid, boring or gossipy interviewers. Rosie is the total opposite. All of her guests have fun with her. And since the sweating is so vitally important for all of you, the studio is probably hot under the lights…explains the sweating. I’m a musician. I sing and play violin, fiddle, flute, and more. I sweat profusely under the lights. And maybe I’m high too, bc I smoke the reefer, but that’s secondary! Lol! Many musicians get high because it helps music. There’s something to be said for that, ya know… music itself will get one high, but adding certain substances to that helps some. I don’t even know that Whitney was negatively affected by her partying… the media sure made it that way. Unless we are a person, we can’t claim to know their details. Okay, sure, in 2001-02, Whitney lost some weight, but it DID get gained right back, and what did everyone say… “Whitney blew up!” Y’all kill me, she was never fat, like she told Diane Sawyer. “Whitney will never be fat. I’m a skinny girl.” Really, the camaraderie between Rosie and Whitney, plus the music, is what it’s about here. I would expect someone saying that they’re a “recovering addict” to maybe be more understanding or respectful and not point stuff like that out. The comment sounded both insulting and praising at rthe same time. Quite strange. And to be honest, this isn’t even her “highest” moment, are you kidding me? Rosie is a fun talk show host. Whitney loves to have fun and not discuss her marriage, her off camera lifestyle, etc. And again, on the topic of perspiration, people sweat. Newsflash!! Even confident singers who perform might get nervous, and sweat. Who cares. Unpopular opinion, well, I love when Whitney was high. She’s hilarious. And yes, I smoke weed and dabble in other extracurricular fun things. So I maybe can appreciate all that side of her… I love Whitney no matter what, off stage, on stage-why does everyone point-out when she was supposedly “high”, yet any other performer who LIKELY is on something or drunk never gets called out? 80% of Hollywood is on something. Including meth, Adderal, PCP, LSD, and all kinds of truly unexpected stuff. Old fucking news. Bye.
I love the subtle communication between the ladies. Whitney really encouraged Faith and Kelly here. When Kelly started riffing after singing her verse, Whitney used her own facial expression to signal to Kelly to keep going. We can see the muscles in Kelly's forehead relax as she received that message from Whitney. And toward the close of the song, as Whitney and Kelly were riffing off each other, Whitney subtly moved closer to Faith and leaned into Faith to signal her to get into it. We can see (and hear) Faith start to riff too. Really subtle, but very savvy cues from Whitney. She was definitely a pro.
Just saw Kelly speak about these rehearsals; an Arista staff member rudely told Kelly to dial it down and Whitney kicked the staff member off the set after scolding them for disrespecting Kelly.
THE VOICE THE FEMALE VOCAL DEALER THE FEMALE VOCAL PIMP THE GREATEST POP FEMALE VOCALIST EVER THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCAL ATHLETE THE VOICE, WHITNEY HOUSTON ❤ SHE DID THE DAMN THANG!
This song means something totally different to me in 2023 than it did when I was listening to it back in 1998!!! Having lost my mother to Liver cancer in January 2023, "My Love Is Your Love" is much more poignant and emotionally much more stirring than prior to my mother's passing!! Thanks for making me rediscover and re-contextualize this beautiful song by a beautiful soul!!!!!
Whitney Houston is one of the best female singers of my lifetime. Celine Dion is 2nd, but I really prefer Whitney’s music/songs as she sings with her soul and heart. ❤️ We all miss her being on this earth, but so glad we have her music to listen to!! Thank you Whitney Houston!!
It's sad to say but we clearly see that she was starting to have serious problems with her addiction, it's heartbreaking. She was heading towards her doom. She benefited from a few periods of brilliance until the year 2000, but her fall had already begun. It breaks my heart. Rest in peace, magnificent and unique talent
This makes me happy, sad, nostalgic a multitude of emotions came over me thinking of loved ones family and friends and the great Whitney Houston. Props to Gary Houston and Cissy Houston too.
To think that she had family, friends, that claimed to love her so much… and yet she succumbed to the addiction “so we think”. But going by that… how would people who love you even let you die like that.
I still love Whitney so much. Thank you for treating her with respect Rosie. She was a genius and lead such a layered and complicated life. Such a good soul behind all the troubles.
I remember watching the episode that Whitney didn't show up to, Rosie was upset but hilarious about it thru the whole show. So sad that she's gone, such a beautiful gift that Whitney had that she shared with us all. RIP Whitney
shes so damn beautiful and talented. like god given talent. and....sigh...she was high as a kite during that interview. she had C agita almost like textbook. to be so great and be that anxious to need that...may god bless her spirit, her gifts she bestowed to us the human public providing eons of joy and her poor soul. may she RIP.
The 2 songs she sang with her band and vocalists… they are all sounding SOOOO AMAZINGLY GOOD!! Ànd , they were still jamming. These kind of performances are sooo rare these days😮. Whitney was keeping it real!! 💪🏼❤️✨
Rosie I just adore you this has to be my favorite interview with Whitney It was so natural and you made her feel so comfortable. I wish I was more like you.
8-years later her 4th studio album she sold more records compared to her 1990 album... she was a totally different person by 1997 in my opinion but this 1998 album was a great--it had 6 hits on it, the entire album was good.
Wow Ro! You have interviewed so many greats that have moved on to the next universe! What a great career you've had! Loved you in Sleepless in Seattle! U were also amazingly smart on the view with the late great Barbara Walters! I wonder what ur thinking when u sit back and remember all of these legendary moments!!!
Shout out to everyone from Africa, Jamaica, Haiti, Nigeria, Trinidad, the Caribean! At the school I work at, I met many staff, friends, co-workers, students from different countries. I was born in Brooklyn, NY in the late 1970s, and there was also many people from different cultures, countries, nationalities living in the same area! In the 1990s, some people moved away from the niehborhood, for some reason?
Over the past week I must have viewed over a dozen live performances of Whitney from the mid to late 90s. Most recently I watched the SNL ‘I believe in you and me’ performance from 1996, two years prior to this. Very much the same vibe as this clip, looking a little exhausted and voice sounding a little tired. On every single video everyone was commenting the same tripe like a broken record “even though she was getting over a bad cold, she still sang her heart out”. How long did that damn cold last, I love me some Whitney but please get over yourselves and read the room 😂
It must have been a very weird time for Rosie and Whitney knowing that they were queer but could never talk about it. Rosie said in an interview that she saw Nippy and Robin together at events knowing what was going on! The precision, delivery and emotion of the vocals is insane. Whitney was on vocal decline yet delivers so much personality and emotion. They give each other space and yet never sing over each other. Name three people that could do this today (except Faith and Kelly)! You can't? Didn't think so!
@@extrajameen I don't need to force anything. It was a well known fact, her looks and outfits show it and Books written about it. It's already out in the public! You are just late to the party!
Omg, I'm getting so many flashbacks from this interview. I remember it clearly, it felt awkward then cause of the sentiment when she didn't show up. Now, it didn't seem that bad till the second I flashback to then, God bless Whitney!
she was definitely on something here. she looks totally spaced out and you can tell her breathing and voice is different to the fresh faced whitney of the early 90s. it was such a shame she went the way she did. had she excluded drugs from her life - and BB - she would've been touring still to this day, but it wasn't meant to be.

5:23 - Ah Rosie. Many a true word said in jest ... 😆 Despite the profuse sweating being evident here, and her apparently not being well, she handles those two performances with real aplomb and seems in good spirits. That family shot at the end was sweet. R.I.P. Nippy, you were (and still are) the G.O.A.T.
