I do not know why some people think that Natalie Cole was a joke in singing. As like Whitney, Natalie could blow the roof off of a building!!!! Rest easy my beautiful sisters!!!!
I will admit all of the songs I've heard from Natalie were soft love songs. I've always thought she had a beautiful voice but the first time I seen this I thought WHAT?!?!? Natalie can blow!!! Definitely not to be played with!!!
Lawwd Whitney's Tone THAT Voice just gives me chills/goosies all over. No other singer mezmerizes me as much as Whitney does. She is the G.O.A.T #UndisputedQueen
Can we just talk about the range Natalie has? After the unforgettable album , no one in the 90’s thought she could wail. But she can sing an Aretha song any day.
they are powerful beacons in their own right BUT when you get them in the same room, the same song, with just pure genuine admiration and respect for each other, magic happens. I miss this comradary in sangers these days. today its all money, no spirit.
Ms. Natalie is an old school legend aint no playing around, lol. Great performance. Real singers and legends share a song and bring their individual purpose to the song. They don't particularly do all that oversinging. May they R.I.P. ❤❤❤
2:55 when they start going off about how Gods gonna still the water and how they are gonna be alright no matter hard life gets, i get a little teary eyed.
They better sang, they were NOT playing!!! So sad they are both gone, my God. Two amazing ladies. Dramatic mezzo soprano is what I've heard. They were having a lot of fun, you could tell. Just imagine if Whitney had a whisper register.
It's amazing how influenced by Aretha these other performers are. It's seen here in the delivery and interpretation of the song Bridge over troubled water. Natalie and Whitney try to emulate the way Aretha did this song. And it was very good and respectful. It's their homage and salute to the Queen. Who by the way is one of the very few originators in the game. Someone who could take a beautiful composition by Simon and Garfunkle and totally reinterpret it. Turn it into a gospel anthem and add God to the mix. Give the song an extra weight and meaning it didn't have before. I think Aretha is a genius and her influence on those who came after her knows no bounds. Aretha in my opinion should've been made a saint. Her Influence, inspiration and promotion of God are limitless and affect thousands if not millions of people around the world.
I still have this performance on VHS. This is one of the few performances in which I liked Whitney's duet partner's singing just a bit more than Whitney's singing. Which is rare. Natalie was just soul and church that night. Love both of them though.
Wow bruh we would have fun listening to music. I have this on VHS buried in my archives too. I remember taping it in 1990 like yesterday. This show introduced R Kelly and Tanya Blount, she was only 17.
I was 15/16 when this came on...i remember it well...love your reaction. Natalie's voice was back and this was right before her Unforgettable album that took her back to the top.
I Love your passionate excitement over Whitney Houston and you're very handsome btw. It was my first time viewing Natalie Cole and Whitney Houston sing together - such a lovely performance. I miss Whitney
*Please do a reaction & commentary video on Whitney's live performance of "I Am Changing" in NY....Whitney's SANGING in that performance is otherworldly*
Whitney was Spinto Soprano. Lol Alto singer in female singing means she sings in only the lowest keys. Try singing one of Whitney's songs and discover for yourself if the arrangements are Alto or Spinto Soprano. Toni Braxton is ALTO. Natalie is pure Soprano. Spinto Soprano, are one of the rarest voice types in Opera. Now, put that voice type in pop music, even rarer. Hence, why Whitney was called the VOICE.
Not true. Natalie had great technique that's why she never lost her voice at the end and could still sing her top notes. Whitney voice was great but used it incorrectly and could beverly sing in the end and always had to lower her keys to sing and still couldn't hit some notes.
@@doggyboy7275 boy what are you saying. Everyone knows Whitney lost her voice due to her struggles. Plus Natalie didn’t tour as much as Whitney. Stop saying things you don’t know
The best version of this song is Luther Vandross, Paul Simon (who wrote it) and Jennifer Holiday, but it was mostly Jennifer and Luther, who took it to church.
Why can't people just comment on the video? Don't nobody want to hear about comparisons or have you heard that other stuff. Enjoy Whitney and hush!! Goodness, go on the other videos of the people you requesting, and let Whitney fans enjoy Whitney in peace! Can you please? Some people enjoy real talent.
Brutha Dnubian one of “type voice” .meybe u just hear 4 of “type voice” like bass tenor contralto and soprano.but they have many sub different voice too.like in soprano the sub category voice is like lyric soprano (celine dion),dramatic soprano (patti labelle),spinto soprano (whitney houston), falcon soprano (aretha franklin),etc.there different because one by one “voice type” have them point note ,what the lowest note and what the highest note from the singer, and from that u can get the “voice type”😂
I think Natalie took this one! The older legends Aretha, Chaka, Gladys,Patti, Natalie etc gave both Whitney and Mariah their props but they always reminded them that they were the true legends and voices!!!!!! Mariah has more versatile, musicality and range than whitney!!!! PEOPLE just love the gospel tone of whitney! I prefer Mariah.....
2 great great great singers, not on ARETHA's level, BUT THEY WERE AND ARE BOTH GREAT, one of the greatest performances ever. TWO OF THE BEST TO EVER DO IT
@@nielsenmakaba5777 Yes, and If You do that always through You whole carrière, Your Voice will be Damaged, it's like screaming the whole Day, well You know? In the Evening Your Voice is Horse a Helll.
Have you still not seen GLENNIS GRACE and any of her Whitney covers? You will be in astonishing AW. She sounds quite like her naturally. You've got didn't we almost have it all or any other examples including One mOment in time. You've got to see her !!!!!!!
lol nice review...i get my life everytime i get to that part where they are going back and forth..i actually dont think whitney was reaching for that note...as you have seen her in other videos hitting it effortlessly ...ie "do you hear what i hear" when whitney closes her eyes, as she is a very present and available singer shes also an interpretive singer and, for me that is what she does...thinking of a more difficult interpretation of what was given, if you listen she even set her own tempo and cadence to the beat. if you look at it from a competition perspective it can look like shes reaching,,,,from a musician perspective it was a risky choice
you should react to some american idol contestants such as Jessica Sanchez, Pia toscano, haley reinhart, clark beckham, laporsha renae, siobhan magnus, joshua ledet
This is not the full performance, here’s the full performance with Whitney’s best parts: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7TBrjC3J9JM.html
We don't get this anymore from pop and R&B singers because this new generation was not trained in CHURCH first. The singers in church are still singing like this. Talent can't trump anointing, especially when the anointed singers are worshiping God in song!
Watched your review of this over ten times now. As you talk about the PRIME and pure talent, you may appreciate this live of Aretha (also in 1992) doing an AIDS benefit concert, here singing 'Never Loved a Man' classic. She bodies and kills it and everyone in the audience! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PCeWiplvAzU.html
Nielsen Makaba that is also true but based on the interpretation of the songs she sings falls under dramatic singing different and the timber of her voice falls under dramatic singing.
you listened to the wrong one fam!!!.. this version is edited there i a longer version with the 2nd verse which is about 4.minutes plus long. u should delete this one and do it again with the full version.
