Whitney's comebacks were so quick and witty. Celebrities then knew that going into a Wendy interview they had to be on their A game and Whitney was ready! By the way, you reacted to Touch My Body by Mariah Carey. This is the Wendy she was referring to in the lyrics.

Wendy Williams was one of the most popular NYC radio hosts in the 90s and early 2000s specifically for the urban crowd. She's known for her big personality and bluntness😂. She bought tabloid like gossip to radio on celebs that catered to the urban audience like rappers, r&b singers, black actors and actresses who werent gossiped on as much at the time in mainstream media. Wendy got herself in trouble many times and there was a love/hate relationship with her among celebs. She got fired at one station which was rumored to be because P. Diddy (bad boy founder and music executive) pressured the station to do it. At the time Diddys artists in the 90s were popular and the station didnt want to cross him. The firing was all due to Wendy stating that someone sent her a photo of Diddy with a man in a compromising position. There was one rapper that even came to her radio station threatening to kill her because of something she said on one of her shows. She didnt hold back asking you the most private and outrageous questions😂 from drug use, your sex life, sexual orientation, affairs etc Mariah mentions her in the Touch my Body song. She says "all up in my business like a Wendy interview" Wendy ended up leaving radio after 20+ yrs for a tv talk show in 2008. Her tv show was toned down compared to radio .The show ended in 2022 due to her absence for months due to health issues (graves disease) and asubstance abuse relapse. I think her husband'cheating again contributed to the relapse. Earlier this year it was announced she was battling dementia due to excessive alcohol use. Besides the Whitney interview Wendy has several outrageous interviews with various celebs 😂

Man, I heard that interview live. I happened to be in New York for a visit. And I was driving across the Tappan Zee bridge. It was mind-blowing. We got Jersey Whitney that day. Whitney was tired of people attacking her, her marriage, and her sexuality, she was just tired of it. She stayed quiet for a long time. And there are a few interviews where you could tell she was annoyed with the questions...the comparisons to Mariah, her relationship with Robyn, etc.

This was kinda the first time we saw and heard the real Whitney. She was witty and funny. Wendy had similar issues with drugs and failed marriage. She DID get that talk show she spoke of but soon suffered a very public fall from grace. She is currently unable to handle her own estate or affairs. She pissed off a lot of people in Show business.

There’s a lot I didn’t care for about Whitney, but she is funny and she’s one of the big female names, who never talked shit about Madonna, rather defended her in interviews, which I give her great credit for.There’s video of her jamming out to Madonna’s Super Bowl performance in a bar, shortly before her death and it was sweet to see.

Another interesting phone call Wendy did was with Destiny’s Child we’re she was putting down all of the members but Beyoncé!

Well Well Well, I can't believe You're listening to this interview 🥂✨ . Wendy Williams is also from New Jersey just like Whitney. Ive been a fan of Wendy's various Radio shows since she started in the late 80s /early 90s. She was a Hustler and realized that her own fascination with Entertainment and Gossip Magazines and TV shows was a way to distinguish herself and Persona grom other DJs . She especially focused on the Hip hop/R&b / artists because the mainstream gossip rags would only focus on Hollywood and Music artists of (lighter skin tones 😉). Wendy rubbed mant people the wrong way because of her No Filter Attitude. As she stated she was a Big Time Coke addict, So she genuinely recognized the signs (in Whitney's behavior and persona) .She knew how to dangle the Bait perfectly and many of the Interviewees Always Bit. She knew how to get Ratings (case in point, this over 20year interview) . The sad part about this specific interview is that Wendy Genuinely loved Whitney and as a former addict she knew that Nothing she said or did could or would change Whitney's addiction (except for Whitney choosing to quit on her own) FYI this 2003 interview on NyCs WBLS radio station was 2 years after Wendy came back to the NYC radio market. She had previously worked for 3 other NYC stations (the last being Hot 97) . Hot 97 was/is a Hip Hop Rap station that durin the 90s was extremely popular spot that many major artists would visit and interview with. Wendy was fired after she had some issues with Diddy and his artists, because Wendy has been knowing all the stuff that how hone down behind the scenes , even since then . But No1 believed her and the stories never got picked up nationally.

this reminds me of that reality tv show with Whitney and Bobby Brown and their family. and wow. the dichotomy between Whitney the voice and the talent vs. Whitney in these moments-it's big. it's really big. it shouldn't be shocking to us-many great celebrities go to all of these places-but somehow it really does take one aback. I love her. I wish she had had an easier time of it all. She seems so unbalanced here, which is hard to hear. I think she was under constant pressure in every way. But there has never been a voice like Whitney. She is on the level of a Judy Garland-Frank Sinatra-Maria Callas-Aretha Franklin-Luciano Pavarotti.. it is fascinating to hear this. and again, a little scary. but real. it is totally real. the anger is real. the love is real. the fear Wendy has is real. the rage Whitney has is real. the laughs between them are real. this is all totally real. and yes-your great word-there is a warmth there between them. I wish she was still here and had been singing all these years. the greatest voice I have ever heard-Whitney Houston. The greatest.

Hey man it’s good to be back with some more fun facts. Most people know Wendy Williams from her famous talkshow in New York that was famous for hot topics and fun guests and yes lots of gossip. But that was a much more tone down windy then the Wendy that used to be on the radio. She used to be much harder on people and get into so much more trouble with the kinds of gossip that she would talk about and the things that she would say. She was certainly the most popular, but even more so the most controversial. It was to the point where celebrities would Avoid her on red carpet. But she was entertaining nonetheless. So a lot of maturity, she made amends with many people she had runnings with, including Whoopi Goldberg and the infamous P. Diddy who is she had insinuated it was gay on the radio. In fact, he had her basically fired everyone out of New York for a while. She has certainly built quite a legacy, but sadly has declined in health, and is the shell of the vibrant Wendy we once knew. She really was, love or hater, authentic and not afraid to say what was on her mind and what the people on the street were saying about those in Hollywood. By the way, it was not unusual for her to get cursed out by celebrities on the phone. Lil Kim, Mariah Carey, and others. But it seemed to most people (who really didn’t know Whitney Houston) unusual for Whitney to call up on the radio and act the way she did. But the reality is that Whitney was a hometown girl from from Newark New Jersey, and it’s highly speculated that during that time she was still battling substance-abuse. Either way, it was still an entertaining interview, and good to see her put Wendy in her place. One last fun fact, Whitney’s friend Robin (and rumored lover) told Wendy that they were actually going to pull up on her and kick her butt lol

Mariah and Wendy have a good couple interviews..one in the studio, one on the phone (that's the better one I think)...Mariah is also extremely energetic on the phone with Wendy.

Wasn’t high, just didn’t have any respect for Wendy due to the many nonstop insults and lies she made about Whitney during her career. Diane Sawyer is classy and professional, so Whitney gave another side of herself.

i know wendy used to be a hag but honestly she was the only one who kept celebs on their feet lmao it was entertaining. even mariah got a global hit out of this beef with wendy
