Excellent tutorial. Clear and concise. Not rushed as some on RU-vid are for a beginner carver. Love your teaching style. Your voice is very calming so I don’t feel rushed. 👍
Just have to say thank you for this series. I followed along and made 3. One for myself (test run) one for my dad and one for my brother for Christmas. Took me a single day from start to finish and they absolutely loved them. All thanks to your generosity of sharing this guide. Thank you again.
Absolutely brilliant. My partner and I just made our first projects using this tutorial. Worked out fantastic and we had never done anything like this before. A must try!
Really enjoyed your video. An excellent teaching one as well. Mostly, though, I like and appreciate your approach to carving because most new carvers are at a loss and fearful they won’t get something right when attempting to carve something. Right away, you put the carver at ease with your gentle approach to creating. Usually, I am always stopping a video for fear of losing some word,s of wisdom or important technique being explained, ad nauseum. With your approach, i never stopped the tutorial once because I knew I could come back without feeling at a loss. Oh, yes, I will be back to the video several times, but, grounded in the fact I already learned something the first time around and now am honing my new knowledge to create what you are offering. For me, it was a slow, easy kind of approach that will let me be me as I try to create this new gnome character. Again, thanks for the video and your great approach to teaching guys like me how to carve.
Hey.. I hope you make more video wood carving tutorials! I have learned a lot from these videos and you have done an excellent job teaching your whittling process! I am staring carving and have learned easier cutting and shaping from you! I hope you keep this up! Having the process in smaller videios is so much easier to watch and return to than an longer video! Please keep making more charcter studies! You did an excellent job and I want more! 👍😄 Thank you!
A question on Christmas gnome in WCI. You say pattern size 3/4 x 3/4 x3” the pattern in magazine is bigger than that. It shows 1 1/2” x1 1/2”x 4” . How do adjust pattern size? Thanks
Hi- The pattern is 1.5 wide because it has two 0.75 inch sides for the front and two 0.75 inch sides for the back. Note that there"front" and "back" are each made up of two 0.75x3 inch sides because it's carved on the corner. I double checked and it is actually 3 inches tall. I hope that helps!
