Who Actually Has Minecraft's Longest Let's Play?

Funfact: Gronkh often gets called "Father of RU-vid Germany" due to him being there basically since the beginning, kind of leaving an impression of many kids, me included, at that time. Establishing a bubble of wholesomeness, support and humanity. I started watching him over 12 years ago, being only 14 at that time. And I can say, I hold him and his values precious to this day. I still hope that one day I manage to meet him at gamescom to thank him for being a good part of my childhood.

German here It makes me really happy to see a video about Gronkh from the non-German area. Thanks for that gronkh is such a kind hearted person. A very long career without any form of scandal, without having to pull himself up by starting beef, without having done anything negative. Videos are just funny, wholesome, educational, and no one would say a bad word about him. I am now 30 years old and a very large part of his community is also in an age range between 25 and 30 and have grown up with him. Ironically, I didn't even know he made the longest Minecraft lets play. Small tip: write "Gronkh" in the title for more views

I started learning German a couple of years ago and I came across Gronkh and started watching his let’s play. Still haven’t finished it yet but it’s been great so far and has really helped with my German.

As a German that stumbled across this Video i can tell, Gronkh is pretty much the most well known gaming RU-vidr here, not the largest anymore since his Focus shifted a little but still very large. He's a really kind and dedicated man with a really interesting Life story, going from very poor and large debts to someone that earns a lot of money to having quite the problems with his contractors and basically having to restart in the background all over again and still deciding to create his own company just to support himself and the streaming community around himself while recovering from the flood that hit his home and destroyed a lot of his gaming collection (including some extremely rare collector's editions and even the as far as he knows the sole misprint of one) while still having the dedication to stream and let's play whenever he can. I think he influenced a lot of people in their growth very positive and for many he's a bit like a fatherly grumpy bear. Always giving his all for his loved ones and community. He also has an annually charity stream with his bubble and another big let's play/streamer group called friendly fire. Generally i think that the German community had Gronkh was a really lucky thing and had a very positive effect on my Gen (around 20-30) and i think his biggest asset was his equality of maturity and just that he was very upfront and natural while being funded

Gronkh actually made 608 episodes of Life in the Woods. I loved and still love his Let's Play Minecraft and watched a lot of the episodes back in the day. Funfact: The longest and the second longest Let's Play of his were Minecraft and Minecraft Life in the Woods, the third longest ended with just over 410 episodes of Skyrim. 7 Days to Die with over 210 episodes ended this year. Many of his Let's Plays have over 100 episodes with some of them having more than 1 season (for example The Forest with 5 seasons).

that lets play was so soothing. always watched it. and there are some episodes i remember very well. for example, a few times the game sounds were not recorded, so what did the madlad do? he voiced over minecraft. he beatboxed the shit out of the mob sounds, foot steps, item usages, etc. not with a sound pack, no, he sat there and recorded hours on hours of environmental sounds fitting to what he was doing in the recording. i love that guy edit: another funny anecdote; there was a big controversy in germany with regular streaming being considered the same as "television" by law and thus falling under the same rules, which meant having an extremely expensive license. The authorities basically forced gronkh into buying the licence or give up his main source of income. So he said "fuck it" and bought it, not knowing if he really neded it because the controversy was still ongoing and no definite answer was given for years to come. So afaik he was the very first youtuber who got an official television-license in germany to keep on streaming.

500 episodes in one year sounds impressive but if you start comparing the time that was actually invested to create 1 episode, it will become clear that Etho put way more time into his. Most of the time playing for multiple days just to release one episode. And by compering all the stuff they actually built in their worlds, you will see the crazy difference. And to be clear, I watched all Gronkh's episodes when I was younger. If I was just interested in Minecraft, I would be so bored that I would probably stop on episode 20. But you don't watch Gronkh to see the best gamer or the best game play. You watch him for all the stories and interesting discussions that are mostly unrelated to the game he is playing. He is a good talker and is able to get people invested and watch otherwise very boring (in case of Minecraft) game play.

Gronkh !! Can't wait to watch Edit: just finished the video. You did such a good job imo. Gronkh's Let's Plays, especially his minecraft series, got me into gaming/minecraft and ultimately hermitcraft and as a final step to become a subscriber to etho. Funny how that goes. :) thanks for the video!

Actually there's an even longer Minecraft lets play by a fellow German. It's a very small channel not even known much in the German community called Iruini1000. He only has 2000 subscribers but a single consistent Minecraft Lets Play with 4089 episodes. The episodes are about 15 minutes on average meaning: 4089 x 15 minutes = 61335 minutes of gameplay. That's 42,6 DAYS compared to just 14 days of gronkhs lets play. German consistency is just crazy

I had youtube on autoplay and didnt look at the screen when you asked the question of the longest lets play and i just said gronkh out loud, turned around and saw his minecraft world and i was so so happy.

Very interesting video and it's crazy how long some Minecraft let's plays are! I want to mention another Minecraft Let's player that has an Insane long series and in my opinion is right up there with Etho and Gronkh in regards to the length of his series, but isn't known as much. The German RU-vidr Dagilp_lbh started his series 'Let's Build Hogwarts' 9 years ago and at the moment it is 1740 episodes long and still going. He also has two other series on the same world 'Let's build Azkaban' (finished) with 271 episodes and 'Let's Build Fuchsbau' (still going) with another 58 episodes. Add to that an uncounted amount of livestreams and I definitely think this is even longer than Gronkh's famous Let's play.

As a German kid of the time, of course I do know Gronkh. I still remember how he was about to have the 1.000 th episode and stared doing EP 999,1, EP 999,2 and going on. It was hilarious and of course a topic at school. Gronkh, Du hast da Kohle übersehen!

It's important to remember that these let's plays are uncut gameplay, unlike modern minecraft videos, which involve a lot more editing. Gronkh usually recorded gameplay for a few hours and then cut that into chunks - he didn't even greet the audience at the beginning of the video! But that's how he was/is able to create this giant amount of videos. Gronkh was definitely the number 1 german minecraft youtuber back in the day. Memes from his minecraft series are still getting referenced today. I watched his minecraft let's play episodes daily for probably more than two years when they came out.

I really don't know why anyone mentions Stamsite, he was the first person to make Minecraft content in Swedish all the way back in 2010, he also runs one of, if not the oldest Minecraft SMP that still runs today called 90GQ, if I recall correctly they still play on the exact same world as 10 years ago, the server started only a few days after mindcrack and has much more frequent videos and still has a huge community around it

Dallasmed has made over 600 episodes for over 10 years now on one world. Still uploading couple times a week

There's also the swedish minecraft youtuber Stamsite, who has been making a let's play on his private minecraft server 90gQ since December 2010, always on the same world. Currently the let's play has around 750 episodes (though a few earlier ones showed off other servers). Due to the massive length, the series itself has been split up in to "seasons" (but it's still the same server on the same world), with the first season being 400 episodes, the second 200, the third 126, and the fourth currently on 21. Since the world has never been reset it has ran longer than Etho's let's play, who changed worlds in beta 1.9 pre-releases.

I don't work in episodes, because I'm not a content creator. I count in years, my world is 8 years this september. A pretty much continuous journey. Some youtubers opened a map in 2013 and reopened in 2023 and added something for a video calling it "My 10 year old world" :P I got inspired by people like Scar, Cubfan, Bdubs and Etho.

In 2011, Gronkh was the second largest Minecraft channel after Yogscast and ahead of CaptainSparklez. That’s quite a feat for a non-English channel. He may be better known abroad through the Minecraft music video “Rahmschnitzel feat. Gronkh - Kohle Metal” from the same year, or for having guested on Smosh Games in 2014.

Fun fact: There is a russian youtuber that started making minecraft let's play. And the first episode is 90 hours long. The second episode is 180 hours long. (The name of the channel is kriper2004)

Ibxtoycat has been playing on the same world for like 11 years now

Funfact: There is another (very small) german youtuber called Mammut/MammutLP who made an even longer minecraft lets play that has around 2300 episodes (in just under 7 years as well)

Not to forget (in comparison to EthosLab and others): Gronkh´s Minecraft LetsPlay is "uncut"!!!

Gronkh's video style is lazy compared to etho, he only uploads a recording and splice it up and calls it an episode while etho has various activities which he balances each duration to fit in a single episode. If etho did gronkh's video style he would probably have 1k episodes or less.
