The last few years I've been extremely interested in native American artifacts. arrowheads, metates, celts, projectile points of all varieties etc..
I think it's easier for us to identify stone tools then stone art sometimes... with tools there's usually some sort of indicating wear or mark to be found to help explain to you how it may have come into existence and for what purpose.. not all artifacts, especially native American artifacts are like that but I think it's safe to say a good many of them are.
with this pictograph style artifact, I don't know what the make of it. I clearly think it looks like an owl. and that's as far as I've gotten. it's incredibly durable, I scrubbed it with a wire brush and didn't fade the image how is that possible? here it is however many hundred of years later in exquisite shape telling the same story it told to one of our great to the 30th powers grandparents... help me unravel the mystery of this stone please!
