People who don't really get along shouldn't have children 😢. He never felt part of his mom's family. His mom didn't give him much attention either. Such situations do affect you for life. Poor Matthew 😭😭😭
@milky5671 he went through typical pre teen stuff where did you get all that from he clearly loved his siblings from his parents 2nd marriages and his stepfather only said good things about him why make something negative his death is sad enough without the added drama that you don't know
Just finished his book I'm not blaming his parents,but they are one of the reason why he ended up as an addict and became alone in his life, especially his mom I feel so bad, that I couldn't do anything to support him, even though I was not even born when things were going ups and downs in his life. We love you Perry You will be always living in our hearts ❤️❤️❤️
It seems like he did not have much extended family support either like grandparents etc. They can make up for that in theses circumstances especially a grandparent.
@@NEbluefire You asked why "especially his mother" and I responded why I thought the person who posted that comment felt that way. Also, I don't know how being a present and involved mother to their child, especially one whose father isn't around, makes any woman less than a "full human being".

There’s no perfect parent and she was young and she didn’t know better please give his mother some grace and not blame her. It’s just happens and no one does anything like this intentionally to hurt her child
I had similar issues with my parents. Today-as a parent myself-I’ll never understand why it is so difficult for some parents to simply say, “I’m sorry.” If spoken in a loving, genuine way by his mother, my sense is that those two simple but powerful words could’ve profoundly helped Matthew. Perhaps it’s a generational thing, or a “my feelings come first” thing. In his book, Matthew shares that Keith Morrison engaged in gaslighting in order to shield the mother. I’m certain the gaslighting only compounded Matthew’s pain, serving as an additional obstacle to any hope of achieving a healthy resolution.
Money , Fame and Recognition does not and cannot buy happiness . Happiness comes from within and shines outwardly . It must come from one’s heart and state of mind collectively. You could be married with a loving family and all kinds of money and be a person living with depression and addiction issues or both and be sad and depressed. Believe me I know I have long suffered from depression since I was a young teenager and Am now almost 60 years old and still struggle with this it was caused by infant meningitis at 5 months old and left me with long term stunted growth , depression and learning disabilities. It is not fun . I turned to alcohol at age 18!years and clubbing on weekends . Fun but never solved or fixed anything . Quit all that by 2002. Thank god . I go to professional therapist 2 times a month and take prescription medication to help balance out my moods and thought process and this has allowed me to maintain my life heading into my Sixties. The internet and music , reading and retro movies and tv from the 70s to very early 2000s helps me cope . Not marriage, money or fame. I also like to help others when I can . Money and fame does not make for a better life or does it guarantee happiness.
How he died is not nearly as important as him giving his life to Jesus. Words cannot express how happy I am about this! Matthew is in a MUCH better place wondering why we are all so sad 🤷♀🤷♀❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Perhaps if his mother had abandoned him, he would have been adopted by parents who would have given him all the love and attention. Both mother and father are to blame. I'm sure she didn't even breastfeed him, which is why he has stomach problems.
So sad cause I loved Chandler he was the cooler of the guys on that dumb show and I like his step dad his dad did an expose on a murder in my home town he's one of my favorite journalists on dateline and I remember Matthew Perry from shows like highway to heaven growing up and the movie about Ron Clark and he was just a talented actor and my sincerest condolences to his family and much hugs from Tx ...my family had a relative that died while being a Hollywood actor and it affected my family deeply because my great grandfather and grandpa grew up with our dearly departed and it doesn't matter the career you had or what you did in life what you do with the life the good Lord gave you is between you and Him but you also want to be a decent person and not a butthole you only get one life so make it count ..but it takes a while to get over the pain and grief so much love to Matthew Perry's family from the Darnell family in Tx ..
I read his book (well, most of it) and while he was loved there wasn't a lot of consistency or stability during Matthew Perry's childhood. His very young parents split up before he could walk then lived in separate countries, so it was just him and his mother. Her demanding job with Trudeau, which kept a roof over their heads, also kept her away a lot. He spent a great deal of his childhood alone and without his parents. That's not exactly conducive to developing healthy coping skills. I hope he feels less alone now.
There's often a hereditary vulnerability. And in addition to the divorce, he described how his parents weren't on good terms, they lived far apart and his Dad basically left him with his Mom, who was too young. She also became too busy with her job, not having much time for her son, who longed for her attention. Once he was sent on a plane to visit his Dad, all alone, only 5 years old. He thought he was going to die, and had no adult he could turn to to help him feel safe. He considered this traumatic, and I can fully understand that. Time, attention, and security are soo important for kids, and it can't be from just anyone, it needs to come from the parents (or whoever is in place of the parents as a permanent caregiver).
