The thing that confuses me is that Linda and Lawrence say they fell in love at an 80’s concert. But phineas, Candace, and ferb were all obviously born way after the 80’s. This can suggest that Linda and Lawrence fell in love in the 80’s, had to separate for different reasons, found someone else and had children, and then inevitably found each other again and got married and created a beautiful family.

Ferb was mainly raised by his mother who was deaf which is why he doesn’t talk alot, but can talk.

The dad they drew up looks more like an adult version of that asshole imitation Phineas from that episode where Candace got into a pissing match over who had the more annoying little brothers. The mom... well let's just say that I have no trouble believing that she pushes a pram around while constantly telling the baby to shush. Then when you actually try to look at the kid, it's a severed wooden doll head wearing a bonnet and she tells you "she's just fussy because she hasn't had her nap."

I feel like Phineas’s father probably died in some sort of mishap during one of his projects, hence why Candace is so against Phineas doing them, because it’s what killed her father. Phineas was probably too young to remember so he doesn’t share this same sense of resentment towards his inventions. I think this makes the most sense because it explains why Candace thinks all of his ideas are so dangerous, despite seeing how well he can handle it, she’s afraid of losing her brother the same way she lost her dad.

Well that would put the entire series in a new freaking light. Imagine if at one point their parents did find out about their crazy inventing and we get THAT as a explanation. Also one more theory, what if their missing biological parents were somehow connected to L.O.V.E.M.U.F.F.I.N like Doof is? (Hope I got that right) all them seem to be talented inventors, and them being villains could explain the boy's talent for all things scientific. It could maybe also be a reason why an O.W.C.A. agent was placed in their home, having the sons of 2 Evil Scientists growing up as brothers would be something I think they would want to keep an eye on. (Just a random idea on my part).

He's incredibly patient and almost never raises his voice, so it's a lot more impactful when he gets yells. Unlike other characters acting all mad, which happens in many episodes, it's scary and shocking when Phineas gets mad at people.

I think another thing that sways me away from the Doofensmirtz theory is that, despite his evil-ness, Doof is actually a very good Father to Vanessa and I don't think he would be the type to abandon Candace and Phineas just because of divorce (again, after he divorced his wife, he still made an effort with Vanessa). His parent's didn't show up to his birth, he was kicked out of the house and raised by ocelots and has shown that he doesn't want any children of his to suffer the same fate so I very much doubt he is the Father.

So hey was thinking what if Doofensmirtz actually hooked up with Phineas mom and got her pregnant but since she gave him the idea about taking over the tri-state area she didn't want to distract him from his goals and left without saying anything and had Candace and later they met again at a Cruze somewhere and hooked up once more and made Phineas. In a way I feel like doofsmz realized but was too scared to just enter the family he was absent in all this time and so he created a secret agent to take care of them in his behalf and to also stop him from being so evil as he never forgets to place the self-destruct button on his inventions to give perry a goal and a purpose and because he might not be so evil after all

There’s a hint that Linda’s got secret high-tech skills when she and Candace visit Jeremy’s dad at the Danville Space Laboratory in “Face Your Fear.” That doesn’t rule out Candace and Phineas’s dad (or dads - since there’s so little data on Linda’s previous love life beside that one date with Heinz, it’s possible that the Flynn siblings have different fathers. I haven’t seen any evidence that Flynn isn’t Linda’s maiden name) being a genius as well, but it’s possible that they get some of their smarts from her.

Amy Newson I was about to comment this, but I forgot the exact episode. Thanks for giving the episode title. Jeremy's dad said "I' flattered that you'd be interested in our humble facility considering your background in astrophysics." To wich Linda replied that it was kind of a secret. It sounded like she was really smart. I wouldn't be surprised if Phineas inherited some of her smarts.

I think Phineas’s dad did not pay enough attention to Linda and was oblivious to her compassion, that is why Phineas has a lack of awareness of Isabella’s love to him. Linda gave up on him just as Isabella did.

I kinda think that the reason Ferb talks so little is maybe something happened where his mom got mad at him for something when he was little, scaring him, and making him not want to talk. Or like he overheard her saying something about him talking a lot and then she left, causing him to think that it was partially his fault, lots of kids with divorced parents can have subconscious feelings of that.

I feel like Ferb's mother is actually a extremely alcoholic, and would always shout making Ferb scared as a baby until he went to his new family. Explaining why Ferb doesn't talk much due to baby trauma and when he does speak he is very sure that he is correct, so no one shouts at him.

Almost EVERY main character in this show do not have both of their parents (with them), and it makes me wonder if the writers had that representation planned. Phineas, Ferb, and Candace have remarried parents. Vanessa has divorced parents. Stacy and Ginger are only with their mother. We only see Isabella’s mother, her dad is only around for holidays. We only see Buford’s mom and Baljeet’s mom, baljeet’s father only mentioned once being off on wild adventures, and I don’t see Jeremy’s father around that often neither but probably something job-related.

My Theory on why Linda divorced Phineas and Candace’s dad: I think maybe their dad was building really unsafe inventions and machinery around the children. So Linda saw this and didn’t want her children to get hurt by dangerous inventions so she divorced him. Idk just a thought-

the real answer is that it doesn't matter because the parents that stuck around are the only ones that matter. we can speculate to the ends of the earth but we'll never know who they are and that's okay. the whole point of dan writing them this way was to show a family that wasn't entirely blood related but loved each other anyways.

I assumed this was the case for both of them. The show is hardly afraid of exploring the ins and outs of divorce considering Doof and Charlene, so the fact that it didn't take the opportunity for another semi rare recurring character like the Grandparents sealed it for me. It's a little sad but I've always assumed that Phineas's biological father died due to something he was hiding from the family, like a drug habit. Candace knew, but didn't want to break up the family, so she kept quiet. THAT'S why she is now so obsessed with busting Phineas and Ferb (even through by now she should know they pretty much always know what they are doing), she's TRAUMATIZED by what not speaking out did to her.

I always kinda disliked how they insisted on the family being blended, but never gave a hint of who the other parents were. Sure not all families look the same, but if your message is that blood isn't the only thing that makes a family, why not have a reference to the biological parent?? They live/work far away; abandoned the family; died - the show just ignores them, has all three kids refer to the parents as Mom and Dad, and Linda and Lawrence seem to have dated as teenagers or young adults, presumably before Candace was born. It's a missed opportunity.

i agree, but i also think that they didn’t wanna focus on everyone’s background but rather how they make each day the best it can be regardless of their background. kids living in any situation can relate to it, rather than them creating one specific backstory for them that only a handful could connect with.

It did always make me wonder... like, if (presumably) both Phinneas’s dad and Ferb’s mom are alive, why don’t they ever see them? You’d think they’d at least be able to see their kids every once in a while.
