I've been saying since I started playing this game that they should add a baseball card style description for each card that shows a character's first appearance, powers, weakness, allies, rivals, etc.
You did it! I loved this idea. I don’t know very much of comic books but I love the characters, marvel snap, and your videos. This series is a 10/10 for me
Long time Snap player and Nando watcher. I love this idea for a series! I’d love an episode on Snap characters with deep-cut live action portrayals, like Blob, Magik, Sunspot, and Cloak and Dagger
There's an issue of Planet Hulk where Caiera asks Hulk to show her the real him and Hulk reverts to Bruce. The two embrace and it shows how Caiera was the perfect person for both Hulk and Bruce. It all cascades into Hulk and Bruce becoming pretty much one person. Their goals and feelings align and they lose that split personality and become one. While Caiera is fridged, I think this is one of the few times it actually works. As you read the story, Hulk finally gets to be happy, but you have this lingering doubt hanging above your head. You know the Hulk can never be happy. You know that all of this will end, but you really don't want it to. Caiera always felt like a person, which is another reason this works so well. She doesn't feel like she was invented to die.
This is why I think her ability really suits her. Because she protects the weak Bruce Banner (who would be a 1 cost if he was in the game) and the powerful Hulk (who is a 6 cost)
Yeah I hate that anyone automatically calls someone dying to motivate someone"fridging" as that's not what her death was. I swear that term is too vague
That's what I liked about Shelly in "The Crow" and Nell from "The Haunting of Hill House." They're more that just "the dead girl," through flashbacks we get to know them as people.
Yo she was totally fridged, and I feel like that sweet scene of her and hulk/bruce came out of nowhere. I think you can fill in a nice, deep romance story in your head but Pak didn’t write one by any means. She’s like “sad warrior good at stuff” and her character interactions vanish as soon as she’s a little less sad, and then she explodes
It would be cool if you found a way to covered why existing cards are relevant like why a Silver Surfer variant was in the battle pass and what SS's role was in planet hulk.
Gotta say, I'm so glad you started making these videos. Writing spec scripts based on comics that haven't been adapted yet usually means there are some obscure characters showing up, like Ezekiel Stane, Caiera, or Cannonball. These videos are very helpful, thank you Mr. Cut.
Surprised this doesn’t have more views! The quality of this video is really great especially with all the info and art you’ve showcased. I know how much work it can be to sift through to find the exact page you’re referencing and I love seeing some of these stories or what ifs that I’ve missed. Also who was the artist on that Skaar and Bruce story? Looks amazing wish more comic books had that polished look
This is a great topic for videos. I wanted snapers on RU-vid to show more connection to the comics and it was definitely missed for me at least, as someone who reads a lot of niche issues and know these outlier characters. I hope you keep on doing those!
This was fun. I had assumed the MCU was a decades long build up to the release of Marvel Snap. Much like when Blizzard spent 10 years making a MMO just to promote Hearthstone.
Couple of quick corrections: at one point you say The Incredible Hulk when I believe you mean World War Hulk, and also, it’s Betty Ross. Great video, though!
Abom exists in Snap! (Assuming it's the same Abomination you were talking about.... I don't know the whole comics lore) he's a 5 cost vanilla 9 power card.
So A-Bomb and Abomination are different guys. Abomination is Emil Blonsly, a soldier who got exposed to gamma rays and became a big evil green lizard guy. A-Bomb is Rick Jones, Hulk's best human friend who was kidnapped by villains and turned into a big blue armored lizard guy who is mostly good.
This is a niche from marvel snap that I’ve been hoping someone would fill cause as someone who knows a decent amount about the comics but only a surface level knowledge about things like the savage land characters and world war hulk. I’m glad thats you cause I already love your content. I’m already invested in this series, hope you show up in a cozy video or something like that soon.
I need brotha to do some vids like this for Marvel’s Contest of Champions. Love that game and I constantly catch myself looking up these crazy looking characters, especially when they ask which characters they should add next
10/10 LOVE THE COMICS-TO-CARD EVALUATION BITS and is something i completely forgot i loved learning in M:tG sets (and i dont even play magic -- and i know marvel lore better) so please more or this tyvm
Fun little format, I had a friend who would regale me in Marvel history when we play Marvel SAGA. So hearing this from a dedicated fan is quite amusing, I hope folks enjoy it a lot! Originally watched on Nebula but commenting here for both the algorithms as well to tell you looking forward to next one with one of Marvel's early furry characters, next time true believers!
My favorite thing they ever did with Skaar was when a depowered Bruce was training him to kill the Hulk when he inevitably returned. So there were a bunch of issues where Bruce would basically trick classic Hulk villains into fighting Skaar the one where he and Wolverine get their kids (Skaar and Daken) to fight is especially fun.
i think this video needs a disclaimer for non-snap players that it’s an egregiously expensive game 😂 super fun, probably the best card game of all time. but sadly i would not recommend picking it up in its current state
I love this, i think this is a brilliant idea and i hioe you can do it for as long as possible I can use this to introduce my friend to these characters and storylines And there are some characters in Snap that i dont know yet Really good video man keep it up
I just started playing this game, basically cus you hipped it up so good that you convinced me. Since you released that video I’ve been nonstop playing, to a point that I’m thinking of putting a time limit on the app. Really thank you and amazing recondition
This is a great series idea would love if you could keep this up as someone who enjoys marvel and is aware of the deeper characters but would love to know more
Recently started getting back into Snap, but I am most looking forward to the comic recommendations. I have become addicted to the medium, and seeing someone try getting more people into comics is great. Hell, I got 2 of my coworkers into comics last year.
I’d love to hear more talk on silver surfers variant! Been super excited for this show, I’d love to know about every variant relating to the topic, maybe do a Jim lee episode!
