I am ecstatic to finally understand that it was the ordinances/decress of the law of Moses, consisting of the civil, social, & ceremonial laws unique to the Jewish nation that was nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ. I always previously felt that Paul's statement in Colossians 2:16 was so confusing and misleading to me as a Sabbath keeper. I could never refute this to my friend who showed me this as evidence to the contrary of what I believed. Thank you, Sister Quinn for your thorough explanation and using bible verses as proof. Interesting and uplifting discussion. When interpreting a challenging Bible passage, it is helpful to refer to another text or texts where a key word or phrase also appears. For instance, in regard to 7 as a number denoting perfection, this can be traced back to the creation week of Genesis 1:1-2:3; so it is not surprising to find this usage of 7 denoting perfection in the 7 churches of Revelation 2 & 3, & elsewhere. Likewise, the number 12 can be traced back to the 12 tribes of Israel; forward to the 12 apostles of the Lamb; and also occurs symbolically in Revelation 7, where the 12 tribes of spiritual Israel are the basis of the 144000. Therefore, in regard to the 24 Elders of Revelation 4 & 5, we would want to relate this, ideally, to a passage in Scripture where the number 24 occurs, or at least to multiples of 12. As it so happens, there is a passage in Scripture, interestingly, 1 Chronicles 24:1-31, with particular reference to verses 5-19, where, in the NKJV, we encounter the number 24 in verse 18, not as a cardinal number, but as an ordinal number. The Chronicler does not systematically number all of his lists, as he does in Chapter 24, where he numbers the 24 courses of the Levical priesthood, from first to twenty-fourth, as "divided by lot" (1 Chronicles 24:5). The Chronicler also specifies that it was King David who presided over the organization of the Aaronic priesthood into 24 divisions (1 Chronicles 24:3, 31). Therefore, in the absence of an alternative, similarly compelling passage as this one, which involves the number 24 in a sanctuary context, 1 Chronicles 24 is the logical link and background to Revelation 4 & 5. Note that in Revelation 4 & 5, John is given a view into the heavenly sanctuary, through "a door standing open IN heaven" (Revelation 4:1, capitalization mine), and not INTO heaven. Within heaven's inner sanctuary, not surprisingly, not King David, but the divine King of the universe is enthroned, and the 24 elders assist the resurrected Lamb in ministering salvation, including sanctification in its fullest and eschatological meaning or sense. Therefore, like the 144000 of Revelation 7, the 24 elders of Revelation 4 & 5, by comparison with the 24 courses of the Levitical priesthood in 1 Chronicles 24, may also be interpreted as a symbolic number, including various resurrectees, to be joined by various translatees at the consummation of salvation, whose group identity is characterized by a strong presence of spiritual professionals - "Levitical" priests and Christian ministers - who are wholly devoted to sharing in the ministry of Christ. So although Jesus embodies a new and eternal High Priesthood "according to the order of Melchizedek" (Hebrews 5:10), he is acknowledged and supported by the Levitical priesthood of the line of Aaron, symbolizing, inclusively, the consecrated ministry of Old to New Testament times and beyond. The tribe of Levi is included in the list of spiritual Israel in Revelation 7, appearing in verse 7. It is also interesting that both Chronicles and Daniel, the companion book to Revelation, appear in the Writings in the Hebrew Canon, as books that include wisdom in their contents. This is an amplification, explication, and development of an old line of Seventh-day Adventist interpretation of Daniel and the Revelation, which is convincing to me. Greetings wonderful lesson concerning the sermoninal sabbaths persons today say that Jesus never died Friday evening but another day as the day of pentecost can be of any day of the week

Then this would mean the reason for the ceremonial law/old covenant being abolished was they were pointing to Jesus' death for human sins. That's why it was abolished at the cross. The moral law/10 commandments are eternal because they are God's character.

The cleansing of the sanctuary understanding cameAFTER THE LORDS PROPHESIED Lords return on November 22, 1844 did not happen. That is why it is known as the day of great disappointment. THEN the Millerites basically said we missed something, let’s hit the books. That’s when they discovered the sanctuary being cleansed teaching, but again it was AFTER thousands from New England area all gathered for the Lords second coming that he neglected to point out. (Sure would be nice if people would speak the whole truth and nothing but the truth instead of half truths, there’s no shame in making mistakes. The shame comes from not admitting it and tarnishes one’s prideful character.)

The 24 elders are angels, not humans

Judas counted on Jesus to exercise His power when the soldiers came to arrest him. By eradicating the soldiers and Roman authority in Jerusalem, thereby ushering in the kingdom to come. That was Judas’ agenda. He failed to realize it wasn’t his Masters agenda. Being guilt ridden he returned the 30 pieces of silver, then remorsefully himself.

I respectfully disagree with you on the 24 elders of REV 4.These are the same sons of God in the book of JOB When Satan presented himself. The sons of God are the representatives of the unfalen worlds and Satan was there because he was representing earth after Adam gave over ridership to him. IN REV 4 JESUS is absent so it can't be the resurrected saints because they can't enter heaven without Christ. Please read (TO MY Father AND YOUR FATHER )in the Desire Of Ages page 834.

The bible states that women are not to be teachers. Elders, Deacons. Paul even said that women should remain silent. The bible does have examples where women were prophets and one example where a woman was a judge. No examples of women Elders or Deacons in the church.If the bible doesn’t mean what is says in this case where else is the bible in error?
