In this video I have incorrectly stated that Amhara is the second most popular language in Ethiopia. I apologize for the error and I would like to clarify that Amhara is the most widely spoken language in Ethiopia as it is the offical language of the country. Thank you for bringing this into attention.
No you are not wrong, who say that you are wrong, that's what the reality is, just because it's spoken in the city it doesn't mean it's widly speaking language. Have a good day my sis!
for the record there is no official language in ethiopia and amhric is only a federal working language that's all. stop misleading others. we have constitution and it says there is only federal language not official language as there are more than 87 different languages in ethiopia
I am originally from Somalia but lived in Addis ababa a while long time ago with a Amhara family, They were one of the best human being i have been with.. They taught me words but forgot it now..
CORRECTION: Amharic is NOT the 2nd Spoken language in Ethiopia 🇪🇹. It's the 1st. Not only Amhara but also all others ethnic groups in Ethiopia use Amharic as their common language just like people around the world use English language as their primary language.
I saw videos of an Egyptian traveler who went to Ethiopia ,The Ethiopian people, Christians and Muslims, are beautiful and wonderful people Ethiopia is an amazing country , I wish to visit it ❤
90 % of the population speaks Amharic language And 60 millions of the population is Amhara! This information is absolutely wrong! Maybe this video is made by the people who is planning for ethnic cleansing by killing Amahara ethnic! And that’s not the Flag of Amhara ethnic as well that’s the Tigray ethnic and they’re the minority!!

I lived in Ethiopia through the 60s. His Majesty was there as king. I can't begin to express my love for the country and the people. I drive to Vegas for the food, though I must say if the servers are Oromo, you'll feel a distinct chill when you speak Amharic. So I only go back to Amhara run restaurants. The two cultures won't even get along here in the U.S. In any case, the food is wonderful and provoke great memories of Ethiopia.
You’re lucky, my grandfather met his majesty once in Arsi, Assela. He was a Assela militia assemblyman until the revolution. Ethnocentrism and Racism has been increasing since EPRDF came to power but under prosperity party (EPRDF 2.0)it exploded with even gov’t forces participation. I love my country no matter what and I look forward to a better future.
why r u lying like this?!?!?! "...if the servers are Oormo, you'll feel a distinct chill when you speak Amharic" LOL just say i dont like Oromos and keep it pushing. Oromos are soo down to earth that they would accomodate to customers, vistors, guests etc as best as they can. Oromos are naturally multilingual and would speak a language that best suits to communicate and interact. Hell i went back home & they spoke amharic until they realised we spoke Oromo too. Amharic is the official language of the country aka ANY ethnic groups know basic sentences to speaks it. Unless they are surrounded by their ethnic group/family/communities they will speak their ethnic tongue. this evil agenda and bias towards Oromos is disingenuous, pursuing to "destory" the reputation of Oromos when anyone who has lived AMONG us can attest to our kindness, selflessness, humour and values. Now u didn't say the servers were based in ethio but vegas, idk how u would expect ALL Oromos to know Amharic?? God knows i dont even know a word besides hello. so when a Amhara speaks Amharic to me, i kindly inform them i only know Oromo, otherwise i have to do mental gymanstics to figure out what they are trying to say. Maybe learn a few Oromo words if you want to interact with these Oromo servers, OR learn a few Tigriyna words to interact with a Tigray server, OR learn a few Arabic words to interact with a Arab server, OR a few English words to interact with a American server etc. its reasonable and logical to assume certain ethnic groups would only know their ethnic tongue and the language of the country they currently live in example America in your case most would somewhat know English. Now if this was in Ethio, everyone in the city would know Amharic compared to villages and remote communities there.
@najam6483 You sound so pressed. LoL. You cannot tell someone their experience is untrue when they tell u how it was. All you can and should say is that, maybe apologise in their ( the servers) behalf or tell the guy your people are not always like that. It is a well know fact that some oromos don’t like amharas and vice versa. You cannot possibly believe that every Oromo is a good person or well behaved. Get real🙄
@@edelthomas4411 my comment was reasonable, unless u don’t like reasonable thinking. Now when did I say I believe ALL Oromos r the best of mankind??? The same could be said of Amharas and practically anyone else. And why the hell would I apologise for someone else’s behaviour or attitude, when the majority of Oromo population can already be attested to their kindness. I ONLY apologise for myself. I wasn’t pressed nor anything. I just simply shed light on a public platform where everyone is welcome and has the right to comment. The only pressed in here seems to be u with the eye rolling emoji 🧏🏽♀️

Thank you for the documentary. I noticed a few factual errors though. One, the map is wrong. Amhara borders Eritrea in the North and Sudan in the North West. The map used in the video was created by Oromo Nationalists who want to wipeout Amharas from Ethiopia. Also, the Amhara people live throughout Ethiopia though the biggest Amhara population reside in Amhara Region. Amharic is spoken by 70 to 80 percent of Ethiopians.
Just to remind you the reall history of amhara. They were slaves in aksum. When the kingdom collapsed they were freed and went south south armed Christianity and geez and integrated with small tribes who were there before. fierce warriors? really? no, they are most cowards, actually, in Ethiopia first fierce ethnic is Somalis, 2nd Tigress, because Somalis are the ones who taught how to eat raw meat, Amharas, because they couldn't light fire at night when they had war with them.

CORRECTION: I don't believe you did your homework well before you made this erroneous segment. First of all, the Amharas share more than a language. What they share are : 1. The common ancestry rooted in Himyar tribes from Eden peninsula ( present day Yemen) whom were later on pushed out by Bedouin Arabs. N.B - Eden was the eastern half of ancient Ethiopia / Axumite civilization based. 2. Anthropology meaning the traditional values and moral values evident in all Amhara groups in present day Ethiopia. The way they dress, dance, commune, build houses, practice farming, etc speak for themselves. 3. The sense of belonging based not only on language but also the Amhara lineages that have historical influences and ties to ancient, medieval and modern Ethiopia. The source you cited that whatever his name is, is affiliated with what you call a neo-liberalist and anarchist lowlifes who have nothing better to do except target traditional cultures and ethnicities throughout the globe. These days their target has become Orthodox faith and strong Orthodox communities. I look forward to your remake of this segment to enhance your Afro Artista project...such a terrible video. That was a great vedio. Amharas are the most peaceful and inclusive societies with ancient civilization. I wish you mentioned about thier great historical and UNESCO heritage sites like Lalibela, Fasiledus Palace and the source of the Nile, Lake Tana. From unique music, to art, religion and writings, cousin , textile, language and so many fabrics of Ethiopan identity, Amharas have one of the most powerful contributions to the Ethiopian societies and provided unique diversity to the world. In Ethiopia Amharas are known by being open to all other people groups for marriage and living with other socities across the country. Enjera is a comon and most loved food, which is the creation of Amharas and is now has been widly known around the world. These rich identity , however, has not been appreciated by elites from some people groups who have maintained that Amharas must be mascared because of thier influence. Organized groups such as OLF and TPLF have an open policy to eliminate Amharas, which has resulted in the suffering and death of millions of Amharas for many decades. They created false narratives against Amharas as part of thier stratgy and spread it to young people in thier community. Now these young people grow up with these hate are ruthlessly kill Amharas including unborn babies, just because they are Amharas. To this day, these attrocities continued. Amharas have been a victim of anti semitic sentiments.because thier language is semetic. Despite these challenges , they hold on to thier identity and are proud of thier identity. They are the largest ethnic groups in Ethiopia. Equally, they have been margnized from the country's poletical and economics due to the hate against them by these groups. Thier forfathers were in the forfront in fighting against invading powers and colonialists, making Ethiopia the only black nation to never be colonized by the European powers. Thus, has become the source of pride and motivation for the freedom fighting in Africa and around the world. There are so much about Amharas but at this time they are facing a serious of genocidal killings.

Thank you for correcting the language and culture of amhara. also the language name is amharic and the tribes are AMHARA means Am..free .. hara.... people which means amhara is free peoples and gracious people live in the mountain
I believe the dance and musical style in this video is wolayta ( another ethnic group in Ethiopia), not Amhara. The traditional dance of Amhara Is eskista (shoulder dance).
It's agaw (awi)... a cushitic tribe in the amhara region😁, but I can definitely see the similarities between the agaw and wolayta dancing styles... very fascinating It's also said that the agew are the ancestors of the modern amhara ethnic group... if it can be called that. Isn't it amazing how everything is interconnected... I wonder what else there is to find out😆
come on ancient Egyptian? why the click bait. There is no evidence for that or even speculation of that. its pretty definitive that they are not. They, along with other Ethiopian highland ethnicities such as the tigrays are descendants of Aksum, D'mt not Kemet.
The Ancient Egyptians referred to Puntland and areas to the south as "Ta Netjer" which means land of the gods or land of origins. Furthermore, the Egyptians and Ahmara speak the same linguistic family of languages and share many genetic markers like the E M215 haplogroup. So no, not clickbait.
@@Orion2525 so ancient egyptian are semitic what about black pharos shows in kings palace are they not kemet black how can they related to yeman baggara arabs
@@Orion2525 a language being in the same language group doesn't mean same people. even if if the origin language is the same, that origin people were not either Kemets or Amhara as both identities would have evolved afterwards. The same way as at the time of kemet the arab identity didn't exist or the Amhara, respectively they were other identities. if at the time of kemet old dynasty you told a kemet that you were amhara or arab, they would have no idea of what, who or where you are talking about. The Amhara or Habesha people have a rich and celebrated history, there is no need to falsely connect it to Kemet. this is coming from someone who has both nubian and habesha ancestry. I would say the same to radical afrocentrics of west african origin who claim Kemet as their ancestors, on the basis that they are "black".
The video is completely wrong about us. As an Amhara, I refute this video. Our historical background, genetic markers, maps you used, and the music you choose don't reflect us and they are incorrect. What a disappointment!!!
Vraimet c'est tres bien edition mais c'est n pas ca soulment IL y a beaucoup donc la prochen fois vous la fait sufficient merci beaucoup et bon journe.Thank you very much you try show us the largest contribution in our country about Amhara ethics but this is very little about that population so I will think next time you make sufficient information about this ethics have nice day.!!!(*!*)
@@eyassuhabtamu yeah that is funny, I bet the stupid hotep is African American who has no culture. Lmfao 😂 black Americans are hoteps. Stupid black people in America always want to tell someone about they they're culture but don't have no culture themselves.
What you talking about? I'm not talking polotica . I give scientific information. We are Amhara Agew kemant Argoba. We have a great country great Amhara. I'm 100% sure oromo population less than 20 million. Long live to great Amhara people.
@@yghezudenku8734 huh 😂. What are you saying lol.read some history and u will realise that there’s no Amhara . Its just a literal combination of oromos in wollo and Raya, Agew in Gojam , Gondar and North Wollo , Kimant and Beja in Gonder and Argoba . Don’t compare yourself to Oromo . It is becoming know that Oromo is the largest ethnic group in Africa
The Amhara ethnics are the the dominant people of Ethiopia consider themselves as the descendants of Israelites The sad thing is Before 1975 the Amhara people were known for their racism towards the central & southern ethnic groups calling them as negros & treat them as second citizens
looool. Calling someone a negro isn't offensive, it is the name of a race! There was equal opportunities for every citizen during the reign of the Emperor. Racism has been an issue from the time Ethiopia was separated along ethnic lines by the TPLF in the 1990's. The TPLF even stated their #1 enemy was the Amara ethnic group.
Thank you for the effort, but this video has incorrect information in it in almost every section. From the ethnic map at the beginning of the vid, to the nonsense spoken about the nature of Amhara ethnicity (you quoted a known TPLF-commissioned Amhara hater), to saying that the Amhara speak "Amhara", to saying that Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity has roots in Egyptian Christianity when it is in fact older than the Egyptian Church (love to my fellow Orthodox in Egypt!), to suggesting that there has been a decline in Amharic when that has never been the case. You were spot on about the fact that successive government regimes have all targeted Amhara. Thank you for shedding light on that important fact.
@WediAkele-hd8yh are you touched? Menelik was Emperor from 1889 to 1913. Where did you get 1855 from? Emperor Menelik definitely lives rent free and LARGE in the empty heads of clowns like you.
Thanks for ur effort, but, Some of your analysis are based on contradictory information. As a show case, u said Amharic language is spoken by above 21 million people, and the second widely spoken language in Ethiopia. While you also mentioned that the language is currently spoken by 60 million people. Besides, the map u used to describe the Amhara regional state is wrong.
Amhara has nothing to do with the history. the history in amhara region belongs to agaw and kimant peoples of kushitic ancestry. I don't understand how you mention ancient Egyptian here. Ancient egyptians are kushitik people (afar, somali, beja(in sudan and eritrea), oromo, agaw and kimant( from amhara region), hadiyya and sidama. these people have e1b1b that tres back to ancient egyptian pharaos. the feature, dans, culture and lots of artifacts are similar to ancient egypt.
If being an Egyptian origin makes you big and proud so be it . I think to be yourself is preferable . before telling someones origin first better to find out where you come from
Brother Somalis are not Egyptian. We left Sudan-Libya border but this was before Egypt became number one. That's why we share close genetics with Berber people from Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Eastern Egyptians, etc. Still our history is rich enough no need to claim others. East Africa unite.
It's a very cool video but you used TIGRAYAN women in some places. I would like you to make a video about the history and culture of the Gurage people in Ethiopia.
Many so called tigrean are amhara (wolkait, raya) and some amhara are in fact tigrean (gonder area). so in fact there's nothing wrong using these images
You need to correct one thing: Amharic is not the second language spoken in Ethiopia. It is the first language spoken in Ethiopia. Except in country side of some regions, in all regions Amharic serve as the Federal official language and in every region Amharic serve as the second language next to the region official language. Therefore Amharic is the first language spoken in Ethiopia. Next time I will write the other comments.
