I don't know a whole lot about the original inhabitants of Appalachia, but my dad has passed down some information he learned from his great grandfather, an Eastern Cherokee who passed down our Deer Clan clanship, some of the Tsalagi language, and stories from his ancestors. One particularly interesting story he passed down regards the mound where our his people's townhouse was built in the Cherokee town of Nikwasi. He stated that the mound had already been there when his ancestors arrived and that it had been made by people who had lived there long before and that they were not an Iroquoian language speaking peoples like we Cherokee were. I wish I had more to share, but that's about all I know in that regard.

@@MountainRoots actually considered fossil mountain As a ch title but not enough knowledge to make that claim. But yeah coral reefs, I understand are somewhat common. But other artifacts our great uncle found as a child. He so loves to talk! He would be the guy. Memory like a trap. Let me ask permission first to all involved and I’ll be glad to.

i was born and raised in the appalachia mountains. no matter where i went after turning 18 they knew i was from that area. best folks you will ever meet. i visit couple times a year to see my family which all still live in the mountains. i miss that area way of life is easy and simple (work hard or die hungry ). drugs have destroyed the area i from and was the reason for joining the military and deciding to raise my family else where but it will allways be home

I grew up on upstate NY and currently live in Western MD for the past 30 years. I have spent a great deal of time in WV and western MD and I absolutely love this region of the US. The people from this area of the country are the roots of what the US is and should still be. My ancestors were among the first settlers of the mountains from WV to NC. And almost all lived in the family settlements until my grandparents left for work. Sadly my parents and myself were born in the lowland of OH and GA respectively. We’ve maintained ties with the homeland but it is apparent in visiting that, even within a generation, much is lost. And to hear it now, more and more of us have left over the years. It is sad to see such a culture, such a legacy vanish, preserved only in memories, books, and RU-vid videos about our past.

When I was young my family went on vacation to Douglas Lake in Tennessee. My uncles were friends with a man we called Arm. Arm was missing one of his and had a prosthetic which had two hooks for a hand. He was a great guy. Unfortunately, the government took this elderly veterans' house and land. He fought but lost everything and because he wouldn't accept their fair market assessment of pennies on the dollar, he received nothing for his property. He died living with his daughter after having owned that land all his adult life. He had inherited it if I remember right when he was in his 20's so over 50 years.

My Moms side is from southeast KY (Bell county). I was raised in Atlanta, but that the pleasure of visiting KY for the summer, when I was 17. It was quite an experience, to say the least. Some of the best people I’ve ever met live there. This was over 30 years ago, prior to the drug epidemic (aside from the harmless weed). If the sh*t ever hits the fan, I think these strong, independent people of the Appalachians will fare quite well, compared to the city folks.

You need to spend more time up here in the northern Appalachians, although you are beginning to understand West Virginia. Come up to the upper Ohio Valley and you will find Ulster Scots like my ancestors followed by virtually every possible ethnicity seeking work in the mills much like the miners in the south. The West Virginia Department of Mines, now Miner’s Health, Safety, and Training used to survey the ethnicity of miners and publish it in their Annual Reports, interesting reading. I know some who think the state lacks diversity and is all white, but the population is diversity merged, sometimes into individuals. As to African Americans and European Americans working together you don’t care who digs you out of a roof fall or saves you from falling into a crucible of molten steel and you are likely to become their friend for life!

All you need to do is read the Bible to find out about human history/origins. If you go all the way back, after the flood, it was Noah and his family that started the human race again, so we are descended from them and thereby must be all related in some way. It’s like the gypsies, descended from the Thar Desert in India, emigrated to Europe, Romania, Southern Ireland, but many call them Romani but in fact they have Indian roots

Great videos and very informative, they are important to enlighten and fill in the gaps, to show how people worked and lived, where they came from and the wrongs that have been done....many show how the political grifters reinvent history to suit their own political and finacial needs....but these stories are not just here, they have been going on for centuries...they used very similar tactics in the UK at the start of the industrial revolution and for centuries before hand...almost all the land owned by the rich families including the royal family was stolen by brute force or when families went to the city to seek work their land was simply "acquired" by the rich..leaving families today with absolutely no heritage but yet they own most of the UK..it interesting how they have rezoned the USA into smaller states from 13, as they have done in many countries in Europe..it appears to be the control and parcelling of land by the extremely rich and powerful and always after a major war...with every conflict, the rich have become richer, there are fewer people in charge.... and the poor poorer but the rights and liberties of the working class and beyond are usurted..yet they use race, background, beliefs to divide us all..pretending the care..where there is money, you can expect another grift to launder more and more tax payers money and the theft of not only the peoples land but their heritaged destroyed by labelling it racist, imperialist etc...when did you ever see a guy walk out of a coal mine and announce he was going to sail overseas and conquer other lands...only the rich elites have ever done this...
