Played SPGs when I was mad at the game and wanted to vent my rage. Used to have a lot of fun playing SPGs with another SPG player whe called himself SchlampeWahnsinn. Funny guy. Only person I knew through gaming that I ended up meeting IRL. 😂
Claus, I am a die-hard arty player...and dont hide it. Then I crossed someone that BLEW ME AWAY, last week. He has 83k games played (63k are in the LeF) Yes thats 3/4 games in this one arty. I wish I could remember his name. I pinged him after the game and congratulated him. He responded that his goal is 100k in the Lef. 😵💫
Yikes, I just don't think I could play a leafblower that much - I got one in a loot box on the EU several years ago, I just didn't like the ammo choices and lack of speed so have only played two games but won them both so hanging on to my 100% WR :) I'd rather play my Bishop or FV304.
Back in the old days, when light tanks still had scout matchmaking and War Gaming's Deforestation Department hadn't stripped all of the bushes, brush and trees from the maps, I quickly learned a good arty player was an aggressive and sneaky light tank driver's only friend. The other tanks couldn't shoot what wasn't rendered or line of sight for them, but arty, they could fire well into the enemy's rear. I also learned that everybody loved to kill enemy arty, especially the arty player(s) on my team.
The game used to mean and be something with old SPG, the new SPG is a joke and people complain about it because they have no skill. IF they can't even play with the way the SPG currently is. Then they should just quit playing the game. Most the people that cry about spg are just the losers who sit in the open and sit there just getting hit by them. Smart players learn to move.
@@Mr1DragonLord Indeed - likely short-attention-span WN8 heat-seeking players who simply get annoyed as they are stunned over and over. They simply don't have the patience (or willing to crater their WN8) to go and actually play enough SPGs to learn how to effectively counter them!!! -
@@wargamingrefugee9065 Skilled and supportive friendly arty still works for assists for sneaky and zippy LTs against enemy LTs and light MTs but the low damage on everything else is pretty sad for the arty player :(
After all these years they found the happy medium for SPGs. Like in real war versus armor, it’s all about the shock of high explosive, not actual damage. This is one of wargaming’s few true victories in world of tanks. Playing these monsters is fun.
53/55 is still the go to SPG. But really, you can't go wrong for fun with any of the t8 or 9 American heavies, TDs, and SPGs. Just a great little tech tree section.
Certainly not good if you find yourself outnumbered on one flank and need friendly arty in play to suppress advances by the enemy on that flank. Not good if you need critical enemies perma-tracked. And also not good if you want your arty to suppress and/or take out the arty that's shooting at you!
Back in the day I one shot a full health IS-6. Was glorious. Those were the days. Wargaming nerfed SPG's to oblivion in WOTs but won't nerf their equivalent in World of Warships (CVs) in World of Warships.
I have to disagree vigorously with the "equivalent" part - in WoWS there are actual AA countermeasures available to the players, and we have to pilot our "shells" correctly. Which is actually super fun if you ask me.
the thing about SPG is, they truly shine in prolonged battles when they can slowly but surely add up damage and assissts... but most games nowadays are 3-5 minutes blowouts, so SPG have hard time doing much
Not a dedicated spg player but am surely grinding for t9 french one. Currently im marking my JgPz and so far hes at 61,5% so im not gonna rest for a while cause its a really fun tank! Anyway, i like autoloader french t10 spg to spite the mf unicums lmao
I stopped playing SPG's when my top-down view stopped working, mid game????? Used to like playing the few I had, from tier 5 (leaf-blower) to Obj. 261. Stopped playing T-92 due to inability to hit anything. The 261 rocked, though.
I guess that the hatred towards SPGs still originates from the old days that an arty could one-shot a full health heavy. In the current version of WOT they have become a complete joke, thanks to WG that have nerfed them to death. The last nerf+HE changes, plus the sound detection perk was the last nail in the coffin. Shells are flying through the air like fucking bottlerockets, giving away your general position and average damage on a direct hit has become approx 40% less. It’s very hard nowadays to 3 mark your arty. I play arty because of age related diminishing eye sight and slower reflexes. (turning 70 next year) Still enjoy it though and often enough I finish on top of my team in damage dealt. Got all tier 10 arties except for the French one and recently I finally managed to get my 2nd mark on my tier 7 G.W. Panther. The replay is on the WotArtyNoobs channel. Anyway, thanks for doing this video and best wishes from Photobomber.
I like playing arty or do passive spotting from an OP spot in a light for the same reason. I can drink my beer and eat my sandwich without too much interruption...
Dedication is definitely the word for good SPG play, I don't play them enough to get good just not exciting enough for me, I only have the British Loyd GC and Birch Gun for low tier messing around occasionally
Its all about the stun, and the first team to shoot a stun tank is the team that wins most of the time. dont even waste time with any of the other shells, if its medals you want or MoE. stun as many as you can and leave the kill to your team mates'
I am pretty much ARTY and SniperTD player its just easier on my old eyes and reaction times.. yes I am old and like the plays style of the ARTY and TD's KEep the vids coming you crazy Canadian!!! And keep up the excellent work eh!
Honestly I've been doing the arty missoins for the T-55A (right now I'm at the StugIV, mission 3) and there's a reason why I used the certs to get the arty missions done in the first place... I have never, in my life, ever, at any time, in all those years I have shared with other people on this remarkable blue jewel in the vast universe of emptiness.... Quite felt the meaningless of life and the void of stagnant unexistance as when I've played arty.. It's not enjoyable. Nothing happens and by god it's easy to rake up dmg - but it's boring as shi... I'm not sure I have the stamina for the missions.... let alone the disgrace, the shame of knowing - I did arty missions.
Random or Rigged? Shooting close ==> Loader and Ammo rack... Spotting and get seen ==> Tracked can't move, Repair kit, Engine can't move, BOOM! Random 🤔? Hundreds of times???
arty is actually bad for good players, I have over 8600 rating, I begrudgingly play arty whenever there is a ''...7 crits...'' daily mission, because if you don't get that mission out of the way, you might have to play a lot of battles and then you can get like ''kill 4 tanks in a battle'' as the bonus mission and doing these missions can take you a lot of battles. I don't wanna play more than 10-12 average battles a day. so, yeah, arty guarantees that you''ll do those crits missions in a single match 99% of the time. they really need to do something about those daily missions.
Sorry Claus, looks like this might be the last video I can watch. RU-vid will shortly prevent me from playing all videos. They tell me that I have an Ad Blocker installed, but I don't and they won't respond to feedback.
Hi, Some web browser security settings -- blocking third party cookies, enhanced tracking protection, browsing in a private window, et cetera -- will trigger a false positive ad blocker pop up on some web sites.
The sky cancer in the first game is the type of clicker I used to hate, got a mega long reload but instead of doing something usefull, like try to find where the enemy spg is hiding, nope, just tab out and go back to watching pron hub.
Patient ?? Not hardly... It's my biggest downfall playing this game *sigh* I have 4 Arty's tier 6-9 All American .. Only got them to do the damn Campaigns .. AND I switch to them after being Hounded/focused by arty for4-5 games in a row.. Then I switch and won't shoot another tank Until Ive counter-battery the other arty on the other team... for a couple three games.... Then I feel better and go back to Tanks until it happens again LOL THANKS Video's !!
I don't get it, I've sent you S-51 game a month or so ago, which at least 7x more interesting, and noooo, it's nooot goooood enough for Claus. But this hunk of garbage games :|
Reloading the WT or foch155 and sitting in a bush is even more horrible imao than playing arty. Playing arty is fun and relaxing for me. Anyway this doesnt look like a good arty player imao
I play the Sexton. I've had 10 kills as my best. Wish I could get a mark on my barrel. Not sure why barrel marks are for tier 5 and up. I feel it would make lower tiers more fun to play.
There are literally dozens of Arty players in some clans with 3 marked Arty. Many of them are members of WOT Arty Noobs and share their techniques with others. A lot of these players can be seen smashing the enemy on our channel (WOT Arty Noobs) and frequently they win the game for their team with a single shot in the right place, by taking out the enemy team one by one or by stunning the enemy to let their team mates take the kills.
I used to play SPGs when i got home on from work and just needed to relax without too much thinking. You see, once upon a time this game offered something to middle aged guys who worked regular jobs. You know, the ones who paid for an account, purchased the odd premium tank and spent a bit at Xmas but also had a dog, a family and friends, and think paying hundreds of dollars to win is ridiculous so they quit.
Hash tag ME too....no waiting for targets. You can support any flank without having to relocate. You can focus down targets that need to be eliminated and help weaker teams win.
I love playing SPG. I guess that being a bit older, and also noticing I get a bit of "motion sickness" when playing tanks I found that I can join in, have fun, and these days do quite well in SPGs (not like unicom level) but feeling like I'm contibuting to the outcome of battles. So yes I do like the old SPG game. I prefer the British ones which although tend to do less damage than the Soviet or American guns l find them way more accurate. So be nice to SPG players.
My overall favorite now is the GW Panther. I've found it to have the most consistent gun of the arties I use regularly. I generally stay away from the tier 10s because they take WAY too long to load, especially the 155 58. Of the tier 10 SPGs, I prefer the Object, it is a fast, (relatively) well armored vehicle, but you have to learn where the W key is. Kudos to the 155 58 player, a lot of patience there, in spite of the wait for the reloads.
I play them but its frustrating most of the time, getting a direct hit with an arty and do almost no damage while the stupid car with minimal ammo makes more damage, that BC is kind of fun but with enemy anti arty it is dangerous to stay in one place, all that complaining about arties .. most of dumb players who stay at the same spot even when hit multiple times by an arty .. just play them and stop complaining, its the rock paper scissors thing ..
There is no excuse for making reloads so long and the lack of damage is also unexceptionable. I like playing SPG but these mechanics just make playing WOT useless
I used to enjoy the french artillery line, the only artillery line I ground all way to 10. I wasn't a Arty only player, I had T10 Heavies, Mediums and TDs too. But when they completely screwed over Arty, because of the whining little b**tards, I lost interest. In the game entirely.....
Obj 261 has 20 shells with an average reload of 30sec, that is 10 minutes of continues fire, 15 minutes in a match makes you somewhat hesitant to waste a shot since you dont want to run out.
Please do a SPG counter battery tactics episode - someone are for sure experts in that kind of game play. I try to be when I play SPG, but I'm still just a muppet :-)
That's something I'd love to see. The "tracers" mechanic relies too much on a player's graphics settings, which makes it super confusing in so many cases - that, and the intentionally-added fake variation (obfuscation) to the tracer's rendered position. As a main SPG player myself, I find that unnecessary ,and actually detrimental to the game as a whole because it de-incentivizes arty players from using the keyboard, since the game code already "lies" about arty's position to anyone without a cheat mod.
@@Chuckles.. You don't always have to kill the enemy arty - just suppress and force them to relocate or even better bait them in trying to shoot back. In maps where there are few clear shots of enemy tanks its better to lob one at an enemy rather than end the game with a load of unused ordinance :)
My longer range arty play tends to be very mobile with a lot of angle options - I prefer faster arty such as the French tier 6-10, German tier 7 and the American tier 6. For giggles, I like the short-range high-arc types such as the British arty tier 5-7 and the old German tier 4 st Pz II
I'm a happy arti player.. well, at least until WG nerf'd them. Then I sold many but kept the French tier 10 among a rare few. It's very accurate but can't dmg tier 10 TD's or Hvy on which it bounces often. I like the Russian 261 because of its accuracy and faster reload and the Brit because of its lobbing ability and splash radius.
Only chanel that acknowledges that spg players are people too and why not when on average 4/30 in every game are spgs and that's 13% of all players which could be about 30000 people all around the world 😁
mines is a crap spg map it is way too tiny .. and has ony 3 decent spot for spgs on either side ... and they are well known MINES should never need spgs
Used to be a dedicated SPG player until they removed old AP. It was mere chance if you hit something then hoped it penned and didn't hit the tracks. If those two dice rolls aligned 2,000 damage in one shell was so rewarding. SPG gameplay isn't as rewarding to me as it used to be, but I'll still roll out the m12 every once in awhile. Thanks for the video Claus. My spg playing style got replaced by JG E100.
SPG's is still fun, against all odds (and nerves). I am a light (fast) tank player and i usually get the most help from spg (still). They are fun to play as well and give the game dept. I understand the hate they get but thats usually from peoples who don't play SPG's so they don't know the skills it take. Ooooooh he is just klicking, well i have news for you; so are you ;). Much love to you Claus and give Marty a belly rub for me, and get one for yourself as well :) PS. more science pls.
The high degree of influence of the game over every SPG shot quickly drove me from ever touching them in the game. I've sold out every last SPG i had and am now more dedicated to TD gameplay.
If you leave stealth now I'll take away a little part of ye Ooh no, Red Team TD, please don't go And if you spot scouts now I'll stun them for all eternity Ooh no, team mates, please don't go Ooh spotter, I just want you to stay.....
Now I am singing Claus! We got a little ol Conway, Shootin through the night. Yea we got a little ol Conway, aint she a beautiful sight? Come on let's shoot the Conway, aint nothing gonna get in our way, we gonna rock that Conway, cross the USA! Conway. Conway
