I love mythology and folklore from different cultures, Norse being my number 1 favorite. I find them fascinating, especially watching a YT video of someone who have done research and know thier stuff. You got yourself a new subscriber. I also think your shirts are too sweet and are looking at buying some soon.

little known fact the Hindu Gods didn't have multiple arms , their depictions are of the things they do or use like if they have 6 weapons they will have 6 arms and if they have lotus that is it means they are pure or enlightened . and the statue of Shiva at cern is a depiction of a dance .

Hindu gods have multiple arms look at other gods even Shiva also & thats the uniqueness.

Ogun is actually the primary Yoruba god of war. The Yoruba word for war is literally “ogun” (albeit with different intonation). Ṣango is pretty much his closest rival and Oya is the most warlike of the female orisa (hence her relationships with the two above). But the Yoruba section is incomplete without including Ogun. Still, nice work including 2/3!
@afrinaut3094
@afrinaut3094 2 месяца назад
Both Ogun & Oya are the "primary" Orishas of war. As Oya is closely related to warrior-women, the uniqness of women-warriors experiences & dealing with injustices, especially injustice as it pertains to violent-misogyny against women. Oya is the only warrior-female Orisha, in some native-stories she is an Irunmole. Oya is also a storm & lightning diety. Oya was the one who taught Shango how to wield lightning. BTW neither the Orishas nor the even the Irunmole are "gods", deities or god-like yes, but "gods" no. Only Olodumare is God.

7:29 sif is the godess of fertility (and marriage) not freja.
@pantheonmythology
@pantheonmythology 2 месяца назад
Whole true, Freja is still associated with it based on the research I did. She's a multi-faceted goddess linked with many things.
@samuelferrell9257
@samuelferrell9257 2 месяца назад
Not entirely true, and yet not wrong.. Freya was a Vanir, all if which are fertility gods. Frey, her brother for example is a god of the harvest and also carries a flaming sword. Most gods are not so stereotypically one facetted. P.s. Sif is also a warrior as are pretty much everyone in Norse mythology.
@nenasiek

@@samuelferrell9257 she is the main godess for marriage and fertility. All of them are associeted with more than one thing but the also have their main purpose.

In visionary shamanic societies like the ancient Norse, the interpretation of what any particular deity "Meant" was the subjective province oi the local shaman and his/her unique perspectives. Taken literally, all god/dess representations are human generated (entheogenesis), therefore fertility generating. The sacred precedes, imbues and follows the profane, if you wanna be all linear about it. So... what does Freya mean to You? see: williamasadleriii.blogspot.com/

I do not have many war deities. Really the only one I can think of is "Brother over the Rainbow" (Its something like that) I depict him as One of those Macho looking and maiden hearted figures from anime. In other words built like a top tier body builder but wearing Girly clothing and has make up and over cosmetics on them looking garish in the end vs looking professional or cute. Their Dual nature is that they are the God of Love and War. Serene Lunacy describes them somewhat best as they have a heart always in conflict. They have traits that can be seen as Toxic masculinity as well as traits of equally toxic feminity. If you were to ask their gender it would literally never be the same answer. Among the few deities where I decidedly consider them trans at all (I am always solid in them being a god or godess normally; they are my exception); I fully intend them to represent the unstable qualities in the question of gender itself. Hence Rainbow; not exactly subtle I know, but the idea is that he cannot settle on one answer and so he cannot represent just one aspect of love but rather its vast entirety as well as its darker cousin of obsession. In the War half of his nature he is equally diverse but lacks solely one element people would want in their soldiers... Loyalty/devotion. To be specific he does not represent change because he is eternally undecided and as such cannot be loyal or devoted; making up for it with an indomitable spirit and a fierce drive like none other. Warriors would invoke his name to sow chaos among their enemies and fanatism among their allies. Couples or those in love would invoke his name so that the chaos of birth and life would come to them. His demand for sacrifice was a yearly offering of one child per community and one child from the royal family. This being his for Love and War alike both see children equally effected. Those known to earn the wrath of this volatile God often got cursed with auras of charm and repulsion. drawing in stalkers or chasing everyone away to the extent the people would seek suicide as a result. His symbols were Cosmetics and War fans (metal ribbed fans); as well as Rabbits and Wolves... tho a specific breed of wolf and rabbit unique to their desert environment of the Shekkanna. The Storm Hare is the size of labrador and the color of Ash and Rain Clouds. Capable of calling a storm around them in defense they mainly just ran like the wind until cornered. The Thunder Fang is a race of wolves about the size of Mountain Lions and with Saber tooth like fangs and some wicked Tusks. They are a more primal being than most and will hunt for sport as well as food. As clever as they are cruel and as loyal to the pack as they are deceptive to others. Your first thought in seeing them is going to inevitably be one of pity or fear... as the tusks are the back most teeth of the lower jaw and curve out and up about 3 feet. Where as their Saber like fangs are just as long and frame the 2 front teeth providing a bit of armor if you will near the throat. What people fail to realize at first glance is why they are called "Thunder Fang"... the thing is they have complex teeth of various density and build functioning much like an instrument of sorts. When they stretch out their throats and fully open their jaws that can disconnect to do a bark or howl its asif a storms fury of wind is unleashed all in a burst of air cacophonose thunder or to be more gently used to ring the teeth tusks and fangs like a series of bells and thimbles creating some of the eeriest melodies as nothing sounds so unnatural in the desert as they do. Capable of extreme range communication and highly coorinated pack tactics; if you see one its generally understood your already done for. Known to treat smaller villages as corrals for humans (a pantry if you will); of all the fearsome creatures of the desert they are some of the most unwanted to cross paths with. Its their ingenuity and there personality that has them seen as Brother over the Rainbows animals. His symbol among fruits and veggies are Coconuts and Prickly Pears. Mercury is the Metal that represents him... tho its not his alone.

My readings of the source material for the YHVH cult likens that one as more of a jealous sky/extraterrestrial nasty Ferrengi/Klingon hybrid. It liked the BBQ of one sad homeless goat herding tribe and cut a deal for the best (no pork) BBQ going in the Sinai c 10 thousand years ago. To nknow which tribe it was YHVH's emissary required the adolescent and adult males to sacrifice their penile foreskins, and a big deal is made about that contract clause. But, I don't eat BBQ animals, so the whole thing seems kinda fishy to me.
