probably true, Max always pays the bill when he invites you to be there. He does it for his childhood friends also, every year, he pays the bill on a holiday for all his friends.

@@julenjames not really, Norris divebombed max a couple laps before that, Max anticipated it and managed to prevent an accident wih a lot of damage, but because there was no collision, FIA did nothing. And it toke 6 laps for the FIA to give Norris 5 seconds for the track limits while AI was built in the corners/kerbs. But it took them 2 laps for punishing max 10 seconds which as correct( he caused a collision) If FIA would have been faster with their decision making, then Max could have let Norris by and stayed in his DRS and still win the race and Lando would have finished instead of DNF. So they both should have been smarter and more cautious, but they let their adrenaline take the better of them :)

@@julenjames divebombing? Of course, in his first 2 years in F1. as a newbie. Norris is no newbie anymore. He should have been smarter, but he was to eager. Max was defending hard, and Lando took risks, he got 3 track limits in that same corner, why keep trying like that? Because he was not able to, while he had 3DRS the whole time per lap. So Norris made himself crazy, and his team was also to blame for it. And Max, yh, he thought he really left enough space for Norris, but should have let him pass, and stay in Norris his DRS' but easy for us to comment also, we are not in the car in the heat of the moment, no idea how i would respond in that situation. I love it, let Max fight for it, good for Max and Norris, and good for F1 in general.

​@mick6721 yeh but max is also one of his closest friends. Max and Carlos are his best friends on the grid. Lando loves max and visa versa. From the time he joined lando was super close with max and went out with him loads. Lando and Daniel are man's 2 besties on the grid which says a lot about his real personality. Especially as Daniels loved him from the start, through his controversial early years. Lots of the old grid liked to party with max too even tho he was a lot younger. He was just poking fun at max. He wasn't being serious. Or at least not in the entirety. Max is also hilarious and most of the grid has said he's great fun to go out with. He's also one of the most chill guys these days all round. Max has always had a lot of friends on the grid because they actually know him. We'd be better to trust that than early perceptions of him as unlikeable. He was just bad with the media and rather firey about racing at the start (not unusual). And the media didn't get his personality at all and kept painting deadpan humour and typical Dutch bluntness as serious comments. So max was very wary and a bit defensive with the media because he was fully aware they twisted and misrepresented everything he said to start drama. The majority of media is centered around british, aussie and american social ettiquete and humour. So its common for drivers from some nationalities with different style of communication to come across less well to the bulk of media and thus fans to start with. Like we didnt get to know botas' personality for ages but after kimi there was already more understanding of finnish communication being very less is more. Plus we don't see the personalities and the charm doesn't come across so easily for drivers speaking English as a foreign language who are less comfortable with it. Even Charles who is very strong linguistically gets judged unfairly where he picks not quite the right word and people read into that tone, or they don't get he's joking or it falls a little flatter just because of the translation hesitation. You can see the difference for Charles when he knows what he's going to talk about already he's very smooth, but when it's on the fly in front of a camera he is more hesitant and says slightly the 'wrong' thing by mistake because subtle changes are read into lots in English speaking culture. It was obvious with yuki as well that as he gets comfortable in English her personality comes out better & we see more charm. Which all adds to the bias of favouring English speaking drivers in terms of thinking they have charming & fun personalities. It's really hard to be funny and quick witted when you're translating it all and having to focus on that. The non English speaking (1st language) drivers all show their personality a bit slower and already at a PR disadvantage- especially because most of global reporting is English speaking and biased in how they represent as well as what they perceive. Like a lot of the things lando has said are given a lot of slack and taken as humour and assumed good will even when he says slightly the wrong thing. He benefits from a lot of bias in his favour which is heavily influenced by him being English. He can say pretty bold stuff and if it's over the line or a bit dodgy it's brushed off immediately. A bit less since his win but still. Whereas if max had said some of the things landos got away with, people would take it far more seriously and judge him. Especially as his intonation is very deadpan and people sometimes struggle to tell when hes kidding. Like the more deadpan brittish sarcasm but all that level, so people didn't work out his tone for years with media painting it that way especially. So its only natural he wasn't at his best for those few moments on camera when they're trying to get a rise out of him and in the heat of racing. Now that the media has calmed and he's grown more confident people are finally seeing his chilled and funny personality now. But he wouldn't have been so popular amongst the grid to socialise with outside of racing if he weren't great to be around. I'm not even a Max fan. I mean I respect him and like him but not more than others and he's not my top 5 or maybe 10 I support. But its so stupid that people still hold onto this narrative of him being rude, aggressive and arrogant as a person. He's not even like that driving now but that was always separate to his social personality. He used to be immature, but is now really nature and chilled and is one of the most reliable funny guys on the grid and very witty. Also obviously very loyal to his friends and shows that constantly. He stands up for other drivers to the media constantly. Very much so for his closest friends like Danny and lando or Charles etc, but he has also defended Lewis and people he's supposed to have funds with. He's been the most vocal about calling out his 'fans' that attack and hate Lewis and others in his name and denounces them as his fans or fans of F1 at all. He has no time for invented rivalries and anything that goes beyond support for him towards hating and disrespecting others. People are also very aware now of how sweet he is with kids and how much he lives them, especially because of all the footage with P where he's always super patient and sweet with her and its clear how much she adores him. So for those that aren't biased against him holding onto condemning narratives about him, it's very hard to deny or not notice that he's very well liked and respected as a person, not just a driver and obviously one of the most sociable, funny and extremely loyal friends. And he's very popular actually. Lando wouldn't poke fun at max with that comment if he didn't think it was completely obvious that max is one of his very best mates and his favourite, along with Carlos. He's very well knows to be close with max, and has been since the very start in formula 1, so he's the safest person for lando to be cheeky towards since its so obviously not sincere. Lando has only ever been pissed off at max openly once after one racing incident. And he was back to being good friends the next day. It was just post incident adrenaline and rashness making a comment to the media that if it were the other way round max would be judged awfully for. The bias and intense clinging to stupid narratives is the worst part of F1 for sure. And as max says those people aren't true fans as real fans respect the sport and drivers more than that.
