Wild Ones (wildones.org) promotes environmentally friendly, sound landscaping to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities, with the emphasis on landscaping. It is a national non-profit organization with 100 chapters across the country.
Linda Nelson, Founder and President of the newly formed Charlotte Piedmont Chapter, will tell us more about the activities and resources available at the local and national level. Along with Laura Domingo and Craig Maxwell, she will discuss how our chapters can collaborate to promote the spread of native plants in our region. We're excited to see more ecologically-minded organizations gaining interest and advocating for our native flora and we can't wait to partner on future endeavors.
*Due to connectivity issues, there were a few minutes of the beginning of the Zoom meeting that did not record properly. We apologize for the inconvenience*
The Charlotte region is home to the Southern Piedmont Chapter of the North Carolina Native Plant Society. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment and conservation of North Carolina’s native plants and their habitats through education, protection, promulgation and advocacy. #wildones #ecology #nativeplants #gardening #pollinators
The Southern Piedmont Chapter meets the second Sunday of most months during the year. Our meetings are both virtual and in-person open to the public as well as members-only hikes and other events.
