When asked by a reporter how it felt to be one of the best guitarists in the world, Angus replied: "I'm not even the best guitarist in my band!". RIP Malcolm Young.
My favourite story about Angus, is when one reporter tried to disparage him with the idea that most bands only know three chords, but Angus only knows two. Angus replied: “There are two?”
The original AC-DC front man was Scottish born Bon Scott if you look up AC-DC 1978 /80 you will see the original line up fantastic unfortunately Bon scott died of drug abuse
@@keithscott1480 Man, try to keep up. Bonn passed from alcohol induced asphyxiation and Bonn began with the band in late 1974. Unfortunately the bluesy sound of ACDC also died with him. Cheers.
@@davidlemons5650 no excuse, old pop culture is always replayed over and over i was born in the 1980s and i grew up watching bugs bunny, which is from the 1940s, so it dont matter when you grew up. if you ainy heard of sammy davis JR, Sinatra, Elvis, Or ACDC, you just aint payin attention
I put this jam on on the way how from a concert last year one of the younger girls got a funny look on her face and said " we listen to this in our spin class " 😅 ...
I must admit I’m a bit older 71 and I saw them live at Wembley August 18, 1979 , almost 45 years ago 🤪🤪 . They opened the show followed by The Stranglers then Nils Lofgren with the Who headlining
You know a band is good when you play it for grade schoolers for the first time and, right off the hop, they start bouncing their heads and within 1 minute you have a class riot.
Sends shivers down the spine, my experience of seeing them live was back in 1992, monsters of rock in Donington, before i could drive, my dad drove me and 2 of my friends from Scotland in my mums 25th anniversary mini down to Donington to see AC/DC, my butt was sore for a week, original compact minis were not designed for journeys like that, what a great memory 👌
Really warms my heart to see a younger brother appreciating this music. Growing up in Texas I was called an Uncle Tom for jamming to these guys....how times have changed. Warms my heart.
The first time I saw AC/DC they were the opening band for KISS. What a show, I'am about to turn 67, so when you see old people out and about give them some respect, cause if I get to the nursing home it's going to be rock'in and rolling.
When it comes to ROCK BANDS no one, does it better than AC/DC. sure The Beatles, Who, Queen, Led Zepplin, Rolling Stones, all good and worthy bands, But the cream of the crop is AC/DC for 50+ years they have been rocking us hard and they only get better year after year. THANK you AC/DC
Music is the great equalizer. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you look like or where you are from. Good music is good music, period. It brings people together instead of tearing them apart.
Well said! Thank you! Was sorting through a lifetime's music experience and couldn't quite put it together. Wonder if anyone has ever put it all together??❤️😮
I’m a 56-year-old Aussie and I grew up listening to Acca Dacca! Love them! I am not even really a rock chick but I love me some AC/DC because they are just so good at what they do! 😎
"I like that Cat he's cool." That my friend, is Angus Young. Arguably one of the best best guitarists of all time, and damn sure one of my favorites. He isn't the most technically skilled guitarist (not to knock his incredible talent) but he created his own badass sound and rocks as hard, if not harder, than anyone in the game.
Technically he is brilliant!!!! But there are those out there that give a lifetime of practice to just play fast! Fingerpicking solos lightning fast!! But what is that?? Its just annoying! 😂😂 No one plays like Angus and Malcolm together! The brilliance of the brothers making this groovy, bluesy, hard but still melodic, is not to include 100 different chords in every song, and play really fast, just to claim, «hey we play advanced» 😂😂 As Malcolm said: why so hung up on the number of chords in a song? Its not how many that counts, but HOW you play them, and HOW two guitarists make it sound for the person listening!!!! You all have heard the beginning of «get it hot»? How many chords are they using each? ONE chord each! And then it comes down to HOW they hit the strings with the right hand, and vary from up to downwards, down to upwards, using maybe 2 or 3 of the strings in the original chord, that usually involves 4 or 5 strings, and then the timing and co-playing with maybe 1/10th of a second before the other one,…this is the brilliant «simplicity» of ACDC! Funny though, that NO ONE plays their songs like they do, even if it involves only an A, D and G-chord in a given song??! 😅 Most dont even try to figure out the timing, rhythm, and hitting, when and how….not just notice, «oh that is just an A chord» 🙈🙈🙈
Malcolm Young, (God rest His precious Dearly departed Soul) was the rhythm genius of the band. Great reaction. They STAND ALONE in a class of Rock groups. And always will.
In 1980 AC/DC’s lead singer died and he had a crazy unusual voice and they thought they were done. They decided to carry on and found Brian Johnson, probably the only person on earth who could fill Bon Scott’s shoes. They continued to have huge success, more than they’d had in the 70’s.
AC/DC are just iconic here in Australia. Glad to see you finally have heard one of the greatest legendary bands of all time. I'm showing my age but I am nearly 60 and have been listening to these guys rocking it out for my whole life.
I always get this future picture in my mind of the typical 90 year old geezer running out the clock in a senior elder care facility playing their favorite music. You walk in as a son or daughter with the grand kids in tow and all they hear from the parking lot as they're entering in are loud stereos playing music like AcDc and Metallica. Grand children thinking to themselves, what's that stuff gramps is listening to??
Obviously not the same album, and Bon Scott as singer but Highway to Hell will always be one of my favorite songs, by AC/DC or otherwise. In fact, I don't know if AC/DC with Bon Scott ever put out a song I didn't like. Brian Johnson is probably the only person on the planet who could have replaced him after his passing, and while its not the same, they still fucking rock. (similar situation with Layne Staley and William Duvall/Alice in Chains tbh)
@@brandondanforth8342 I like all of AC/DC music I've been listening to them since I can remember so I don't just like this song or that song I listen to everything
Back In Black is one of those albums that everyone should be given a copy of at birth. Straight ahead good time heavy rock 'n roll, how can you beat that?
Saw these guys in concert in Charlotte NC, on my 24th bday ('94), they opened with this, just bad-ass. And, they closed with "For Those About to Rock", and had cannons come up out of the stage. Great show, good times.
AC/DC is an Australian rock band formed in 1973. They were founded by brothers Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar) and Angus Young (lead guitar). List of AC/DC members · Malcolm Young · Angus Young
Recorded at The Brixton Academy, London UK, 17th. August 1990 and AC?DC are originally from Australia. Watch the River Plate concert version of this song to see the real energy generated.
As a former roadie theres rumors that Angus young ran 3-5 miles on stage every show...every night.... flawless guitar work....a true rock powerhouse 🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
There are also stories...rumors...that say Angus hydrates with 1 1/2 to 2 gallons of water during a three hour show (yeah, they play like two and a half to three hour shows) and still drops 8-10 pounds!
Not many know this, but when two USN ships refuel, the refueled ship plays their "break away" song after the refueling is completed. A break away is a high speed move to distance themselves from the Oiler (fuel ship). My ship played this for awhile. It was AWESOME!
You DID notice the lead guitarist (Angus Young, original founding member with Malcolm, his brother - guitarist) is playing that riff with ONE hand, right?! They hail from Scotland and moved to Australia. The original singer, Bon Scott died and Brian Johnson came on board... No pressure, right? Love this video and reaction! Try out "Highway to Hell".
It’s actually easier to play that part with one hand than it is with two. On the record it’s played with two hands (you can hear the pick attack on every single note). He starts it off live with one because it looks cool but then switches to two because that sounds better.
I truly enjoy your reactions Sebs! I'm 64 and have lived through all of the great music of the 70s and 80s (as a dj in night clubs and on the radio). You are right on when you say live music performances can be like a religious experience.
The video was recorded in the Brixton Academy in London. They built the tiers from scaffolding in front of the normal balcony. There’s been 50 live albums recorded there and dozens of music videos.
I was introduced to this song in 2005 when I went to work at a collection agency in my mid 50s. I don't always listen to Thunder Struck, but when I do, so do my neighbors!
Angus Young is the lead guitarist with the most 'energy' of any rock band you'll ever see!!! You see his energy? He does this throughout an entire concert!!
My kids were maybe 6 & 8 years old, on the way to the water park, slid this CD in and started shaking the car... in the rearview I saw my daughter on air guitar and my son on air drums. My wife looked back at me and then back at them. "Don't worry mummy. It's not loud. It's rock and roll." The song was Hell's Bells.
Been listening to this all my life. Im 57 now and still feel the way you do hearing it the first time. Reaching generations. Awsome to have shared experiances no matter age or color. Thanks for sharing brother.
I love seeing someone's first taste of AC/DC. It always blows them away. For next look try "hells bells" "if you want blood" "back in black" "who made who" or "it's a long way to the top of rock and roll" that last one is a treat and a surprise.
The live version in Argentina is pretty entertaining. The crowd reaction is over the top. You could listen to any song theve done and all of it is this good. I loved you’re reaction to it. Thanks bro.
Ac dc played at Edmonton Commonwealth Stadium in the Summertime outdoor concert and when theyplayed this song in the background a storm was brewing and thunder and lightning was blasting. Epic.😊
This is one of the songs I listen to when I’m driving through big cities like Chicago, Washington, DC and Atlanta. It gets me revved up to handle big city driving! Back in Black is another great one!
I worked at a facility with young adjudicated males from 14 to 18 years old. Many were gang members. One day, we had a party outside, and I asked the dj to play this. My kids were rocking hard and could not believe that this was "my music". Lol
. “Thunderstruck” was released on September 24, 1990, as part of AC/DC’s ninth studio album, “The Razors Edge.” Written by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, the song immediately struck a chord with fans worldwide, and its enduring popularity is evidenced by the numerous covers, samples, and live performances that have followed. The opening lyrics of “Thunderstruck” set the scene for a high-energy, thrilling experience. As lead singer Brian Johnson belts out, “Thunder, thunder, thunder, thunder / I was caught / In the middle of a railroad track,” the audience is immediately transported into a place of danger and excitement.
The singer, Brian Johnson is pushing 80 and still can belt it out like this. He was originally in a band ,I forget the name but his other singing voice is very normal.
This same song live at River Platte is worth watching due to the crowd, I've never seen anything like it. Love all your reactions. Peace from Northern Michigan 🎄
Lynard Skynard was the name of the band formed by the Van Zandt brothers. They took the name from a janitor at their High School. The best of “Southern Rock” The lead singer Ronnie was killed in a plane crash early on. And yes the band featured two lead guitars
I ❤ it . Halfway through, you are already banging your head to the music It’s hard to stay in your chair when this band comes on, all of their songs are like this
When I'm in the car, if this song comes on the radio I have to turn it off. That or pull over, because I gotten too many tickets alredy while listening to this.
This is the song we used to come out onto the field on Friday nights. A town of only 1000 people but a packed crowd of 1200 at the games because we had the leading rusher in the state. What you felt as you marched onto the field as this powerful song ripped through the air and the crowd went crazy is indescribable. I can only imagine what it must have felt like to be the visiting team.😂
Yeah it may be unbelievable that some haven’t heard AC/DC songs before but that’s the beauty in seeing this gentleman’s genuine reaction of feeling the energy and really getting “it”. It’s truly a special thing to see. AC/DC has always been one of my favorite go to bands to get me jacked! Whether it was before I took the mound in a baseball game or in the gym or just to pull me out of a low day and set me back on fire. There’s so many songs by the band that get me going, like “Back in Black”, “T.N.T.”, “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”, “Shoot to Thrill”, “Highway to Hell”. I could go on and on but I leave with one more and it’s “Hells Bells”. I read a comment under a Hells Bells video that said “ This is my neighbor’s favorite song whether they like it or not.” Which is to say there is only one way to listen to AC/DC and that’s turned all the way up. I Enjoyed the video, keep discovering these songs you haven’t heard before. It’s important. Music is important. It’s our past, present and future. The only real Time Machine.
Our girls were born in "03"&"07". They both have their own favorite music style & they both like all different kinds of music genres. Both girls know that both of theirs parents favorite music is Rock & Roll Hair Bands from the 80's & 90's! Our oldest likes to say "Classic Rock"! She knows I don't like it when it is called that, that's why she says it so that I hear her! She is now 21yrs when she was around 2-3yrs one of her favorite songs was this song Thunderstruck by AC/DC. Every time we got in the car she wanted to hear "her song". Well, I shouldn't say she wanted to hear the WHOLE song, she only wanted to hear the beginning, like only the first 90-95 seconds. She always called it the AHHH AHHH song! She would say over & over when we got in my car " MOMMY AHHH AHHH SONG"! She said it over & over until the CD started playing. But when frontman "Brian Johnson" would start singing then rest of the song she would put her hands up, shrug her shoulders & said "over"! That is all she wanted to hear of the song then she usually wanted to hear her Barney The Dinosaur CD, I don't remember who got her that Barney CD but if I did I would punch them in the face😂!! That memory of my daughter asking me to play the AHHH AHHH song is one of my most precious memories I have with her & I will never ever forget it!!!!! She says she can remember saying it too. She does remember calling Thunderstruck the AHH AHH song!
I’ve seen a lot of bands from a lot of different genres and my hearing has never been the same after being at the Forum in Los Angeles “For those about to Rock” Tour. They were killing it as usual.
From Wikipedia: The song has been featured in the following movies: Varsity Blues The Longest Yard Iron Man 2 (trailers only, not the actual film) Battleship Delivery Man Planes: Fire & Rescue Daddy's Home and Daddy's Home 2 Deadpool 2 It has also been played in episodes of My Name Is Earl, Hawaii Five-0, Top Gear, New Girl, Training Day, Supernatural, Titans and SAS: Rogue Heroes. The song is also used at many sporting events including every Marshall Thundering Herd football game, and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders dance to this song at the preshow before the Dallas Cowboys games.[12] In 2021, the song was played during the pre-race show when Texas Motor Speedway hosted the NASCAR All-Star Race for the first time.
Check the live version of this song at River Plate, Argentina. The crowd set off seismic sensors near the stadium, they were banging so hard. It's unbelievable.
