Something that's bothered me about this season, is how they've brushed over Cassandra's betrayal. I wanted to know what Varian thought, what the captain thought, the King and Queen. Instead we get treasure hunts.

What I want to know is how mother gothel fell in love with someone that wasn’t herself

My theory: Cassandra doesn’t have a father. Mother Gothel was too old to give birth, even with the sundrop flower. I think that she made Cassandra out of her dark magic. In the book, Mother Knows Best, it says Gothel was made by her mother, so why can’t it be the same with Cassandra?

I think the reason Cassandra was able to withstand the Moonstone's force may have been Gothel herself. She'd been feeding off of the Sundrop for centuries by the time Cassandra was born, so maybe she inherited some of the sun's power the way Rapunzel did.

Anyone else just assume it was just some one night stand or something?

Ok, so here’s my theory: So in a flashback, we see that Gothel is talking to her mirror diary thing, and she talks about all the complements she got that day. I think that she could have easily made some man fall for her with her being beautiful in youth. So, she was impregnated, and when she told Cass’s father about the pregnancy, he left her. This could also explain why she hates Cass so much. To Gothel, Cass is just a reminder that for once, her youth and beauty had failed her, and she really only kept Cass around as a servant and didn’t think of her as a daughter. Maybe she felt that her beauty was all she had left, and she was willing to go as far as kidnapping a child to keep it.

Shouldn’t Cass be mad at Pascal? He was the one who killed her Mom.

Imagine Varian is the key to the moonstone. Born from a mother of light and a soldier of darkness, that would make Varian a mix to the dark kingdom and Corona. He's the Eclipse.

You're ending conclusion are pretty much my own thoughts. Her biological father never made any impact on her life. She got her skills from being the adoptive daughter of the captain of the guards. Sometimes personality traits are more learnt than biological. The plot twist to me was her being Mother Gothel's daughter, and I doubt the series can top that, really. I doubt that her bio dad will make any impact on the narrative. Seems likely that her biological dad will remain a fandom mystery.

I like the idea that she's connected to Zanteer somehow. Maybe not HIS daughter but the daughter of another follower in order to continue the effort to release him. And now that she's been adopted by someone who actually cares about her the identity of the mystery parent would become moot as Cass would have no reason to seek him out OR care about him if he approached her.

As great as it sound, It's impossible for King Edmund to be Cassandra's father because he never left his kingdom and I don't think Gothel would go to far from her flower. If her father has to be someone from the dark kingdom, I would go for Varian's father, Quirin. After all, consedering Varian is 14 (or 15 now) and Cassandra, around 23, it's totaly possible for Quirin to meet Gothel in Corona. (Fun fact: Someone on tumblr realize Varian's mother design resemble to Gothel first design. So, if this is intentionnal, is this a simple easter egg or a clue to the connection between Quirin and Gothel) But I agree about how it isn't important (At least, right now), to know Cassandra's biological father is. For what we know, it may be just a one night stand.

After watching some of the most recent episodes I definitely think there's a reason why gothel kept Cassandra around. She clearly didn't like Cassandra but we know that she tolerated Rapunzel because of her hair but there's no real reason why she wouldn't just straight up abandoned Cassandra. ( well at least not earlier) It could be possible there is something special about Cassandra or who is cassandra's Father it would give a reason as to why gothel kept her around until she got Rapunzel

I doubt we're gonna find out who her father is. I have the feeling Gothel was a bit of a... um... well... something that would never be said in a Disney show.

Go back and review the opening of the movie Tangled. Gothel was already an old woman when she found the Sun Flower centuries ago. The only reason Cassandra can exist at all is because of the magic of the Sun Flower.

Okay first of all I absolutely love the idea of Edmund being Cassandra's father is makes perfect sense!! Love that sibling relationship it would create with Eugene as well. But also may I just say I love how you ended this video with a little ode to the captain of the guard as well as Cassandra as a person and how really that's all that really matters :) LOVE

I think, aside from the points you made about her's and Eugene's banter and Edmund and Cass's fighting prowess, another possible clue to King Edmund being Cass's father is their bodies. Both Cass and Edmund have shorter legs and long torsos. Now, granted, this could just be a coincidence in character design, but perhaps it is also a clue.

I think Edmund is Cassandra's father because when he tried to destroy the moonstone he didn't die either. Also, Gothel had a bit of sundrop in her which might be why she was able to take it and tame its magic.

I hope it's Edmund just because I always though from the first season when we found out Cass was an orphan, that she would end up being Eugene's little sister, and I'm not ready to let that headcanon go yet lol

Since Varian had a bit of a crush on Cassandra early on, the idea of them being half-siblings kinda grosses me out. Granted, he wouldn't have known, but ew.

In "Rapunzel's Enemy" and "Fitzherbert P.I.", it is shown that Cassandra respects Corona's history a great deal, and considers it an esteemed honour to uphold the kingdom's traditions

I still think Cassandra's father is Mr.Matthews/Tromus not to mention Gothal and Tromus were both followers of Zhan Tiri and both have very similar personalities and motives. so I think Gothal would go for some more like Tromus than Edmund, and Eugene and Cassandra are similar ages and am 100% doubt Edmund would have an affair with anyone

I would like Cass’s father to be either Hector or Edmund. Hector looks and acts almost exactly like her (minus the glowing yellow eyes) and they both share a connection with animals, and maybe the reason Hector refuses to let anyone in is because he was betrayed by someone he loved and it scarred him. As for Edmund, it would be interesting for Eugene and Cass to be siblings, but what I think solidifies it is that Edmund’s family was around and connected to the Moonstone for generations, and when Cass was born the Moonstone chose her to wield it after forming a bond and trust with the family protecting it. That’s why she was able to not only hold it but control it as well.

I seriously always thought Eugene was her brother... ever since the episode where Rapunzel locked them in the dungeon together. So Edmund being her dad would be a good theory for me...

Does anybody want to talk about why Eugene was place in the orphanage who took him there and was anybody close by to keep an eye on him? Someone had to give King Edmond Eugene's stuff.

I don't think they're going to touch who her father is because they don't need to. She already has a father. The captain of the royal guard. Bringing in another biological figure would only serve to further her bond with her adoptive father. She needs to understand that the captain IS her father. He raised her, he cares for her. She wasn't unwanted. And Rapunzel is the wrong person to be angry at. It's also possible that she isn't actually Gothels daughter and that she was given a false memory. She may just be being used.

I don't know which theory is more horrifying, the idea that Zhan Tiri is her dad, or that Shorty is. 😂

Its kinda sad to watch these theory videos almost a year after the show has ended, a lot of the questions these theories ask are not answered. I hope more unanswered questions are answered in the Cassandra and Varian spinoffs that we *will* get someday.

Something I noticed about Cass and the Moonstone/Black Rocks: Cass has always embodied the Moonstone with her “prickly” personality to keep others from getting too close, when in reality she’s fiercely protective of those she loves to the point of extreme self sacrifice. Not just the “meat shield” in-the-moment type, although there’s that, too, but repeatedly turning down her own dream to support her friends and kingdom. The Moon is also associated with Order as well as Prophesy-both of which Cassandra has in spades. Her intuition is ALWAYS spot on, and until Raps maimed her and both Adira and Blue Ghosty intentionally targetted Cass to isolate her from the group (removing her influence over Raps, well we already know with the ghost), Cass has basically always been a Lawful Good (albeit with a violently-friendly streak, seen with her love with a good fight and not needing to hold back as well as her half of that one festival...which neither are bad) We’ve also seen the moon’s power be used for positive things like forming bridges, destroying automatons, and the so-called “hurt” incantation used to destroy what was indestructible...but if you actually examine the words? It’s a counter for undead armies, especially with “set the spirit free” being its final line. Aaaand...yep, undead armies exist, one of which was apparently made by Corona centuries ago. And while fully connected to the sundrop as a child and older teen (vs neutralized as an adult not because of a haircut but touching the Black Rocks, as she’s still the sundrop), she literally *raised the dead* with both Pascal and Eugene. (And as far as Raps’s hair? If you prune a plant too severely it goes dormant, but doesn’t die. It can recover, hence why Raps is still the sundrop and was still able to revive a dead Eugene from a stab wound. And Gothel could’ve easily lied and kept that one lock of hair trimmed and dyed while Raps was asleep or drugged with...a favorite soup?) Cass also orbits and reflects yet counters Raps in the same way as the Moon does the Sun, and Moonstone the Sundrop. But what was also yet another nice touch? Those friendship bracelets-sundrop yellow, moonstone blue. And when the two’s relationship wasn’t manipulated by both Adira and Blue Ghosty who both specifically targetted Cass to drive her away from Raps, it worked so well because they parallel eachother as opposites. As far as how Cass could reach the moonstone? -she wasn’t seeking to destroy it like King Edmund. When he got blasted back it’s essentially self-defense on the moonstone’s part -the Sundrop parted the barrier (although if Raps touched it? Everyone already said that she’d basically be destroyed with it as part of “neutralizing” it, and I mean everyone.) -while Cass is hurt and angry and intentionally “betrayed” Raps...she probably also saved her friend as well. If *anyone* was going to die to save Corona, it would be Cass, not the future queen. One final act of defiance and love and service in strangely equal parts. Afterall if things were reversed with the moonstone absorbed vs despised into a vessel, then no doubt Corona would be overtaken by parasitic plants and mutated animals. The Dark Kingdom was destroyed long before Raps’s birth, and less because the stone’s “evil” and moreso because it was being guarded by those who seeked to destroy it. When...really...it needed a counterpart again. The progression of the Black Rocks has stopped since Cass absorbed the moonstone, although she’s not exactly using them benignly atm. (And isn’t being corrupted by the stone, but Blue Ghosty.) -Cass is about the same level of “human” as Raps: Gothel had to literally use the sundrop daily or....she aged rapidly. So can you imagine what that sort of constant exposure to an unborn Cass would do? Cass isn’t the sundrop, obviously, but she’s had even more direct exposure to it while developing than a pregnant-and-dying Queen Ariana. -I very much like the idea of Cass and Eugene being half-siblings, which would give her a sorta birthright to the moonstone as much as a prego Gothel using the sundrop would give a degree of protection and counter the more aggressive heritage towards the moonstone inherited from Edmund. And as much as Cass and Eugene bickered, it became less of “we can’t stand eachother but we’ll MAYBE tolerate eachother for Raps’s sake” and moreso their own form of affection. They even stood united against Raps’s bad ideas and gave the exact same advice (and encouraged Raps to patch things over with the other) more times than I could count-which *really* goes a long way in saying Cass Was Right About Adira even before what happened at the Great Tree (and Adira specifically targeting Cass to alienate her while continuing to manipulate Raps). The two were also the only ones to not trust Adira, although Eugene relented more easily. So... Let Cass keep the moonstone? But obviously ditch the Blue Ghosty. (And c’mon. Anger and fear don’t have to be bad, they can easily be good. A drive to protect and succeed, for example? Doesn’t that sound like Cass? And who says more simmering or more “positive associated” emotions can’t also be channeled, which ain’t gonna be brought up by an evil ghost “tutor”.) Which, the elements separated would also save both girls’ lives-it’s pretty much established that Raps “neutralizing” the moonstone within her body would make her go nuke. Literally. But both could also be combined as that Ultimate Cosmic Power! before probably leaving both girls and returning to space permanently. (Or it goes dormant, but they can call upon those powers and the combined power they gain from eachother yet again if needed.)

I'd rather that we didn't know and of the pool of characters listed in the video I'd rather we didn't get told she's related to Varian or Eugene because then that would really be pushing it for me to make her related to Raps and another character. And I don't want it to be the Captain of the Guard because I think his adoptive role as her dad shouldn't be undermined by doing a twist to say he was also her biological dad. Mainly because I really, really like the Captain and don't want him to be connected with Gothel in anyway since she's the worst.

I think that they could make her half siblings with Eugene and give them some more bantering scenes.But they don't really need to.She already has a dad so even if they introduce her dad it won't really matter,she doesn't need to another sweet Father-Daughter relationship because she already has one.

I agreed with zantiry being her father but with the ghost girl I think she is zantiry and the monster form is one she takes. As for father I believe the logical one is that she was the result of a 1night stand. Gothal kept herself alive for hundreds of years and was obsessed with her youth and looks.

I think it'd be cool if Cassandra was the princess of the dark Kingdom because not only do her and Eugine seem to have a sibling relationship but at the end of the series we know she ends up traveling the world so maybe during her travels she finds out who her Father is and with Eugine becoming captain of the guards in corona and being married to Rapunzel maybe Cassandra will succeed King Edmund as queen of the dark Kingdom finally becoming who she was meant to be

You have no idea how long I've waited for you to discuss this. I don't really see Edmund as Cassandra's Dad because I think it would be a bit too obvious, but you made some pretty good points. I kinda hope we do figure who her father is in the show, though probably not.

I think that Cassandra does her best to prove herself to her father (Captain of the guard) because as we saw in the flashback clip as a young girl with Gothel she always did what she could to make her mother proud of her. This has lead to a habit that she unknowing developed leading to do the same thing for her father as she got older. She wanted the love and attention from her parents and learned from a very young age that she could only get that by proving herself to them. Since she was neglected by Gothel at a young age, she might not remember it happening but she remembers what that feeling is like. She did not want to feel that felling again. That's why to almost everyone she meets she tries to continue to prove herself.

Even tho I think it would be neat if Cass and Eugene were siblings I don't think it is cuz Eugene has a different mom and it seems Edmund's been alone since. Also could it be the other follower Matthews(Tromus)?

This is interesting to the Moonstone be connected to Atlantis at all because when she first grabs a moonstone and she loses her clothes she has the blue body like kida did when she was taking over buy the heart of Atlantis I wonder if the moonstone could be somehow another piece of Atlantis

Okay, I like the idea of King Edmund being Cassandra's father and I also like the idea of never knowing because I honestly think that Cassandra will not stay evil and that the person that will help her become a better person and be able to ultimately stop her is The Captain of the Guards. But if we do find out that Edmund is her father it might mean that Eugene will be able to help her since they were relatively close and she really wouldn't have anything to hold against him like she does with Rapunzel.

Can u do a video of the theory that Varian is the moonstone person? Like Rapunzel is the sundrop, some people think that Varian is the person of the Moonstone. Or maybe the mystery behind his hair stripe, since it never goes away.

I really loved how Wotso Videos touched on the subject of Cassandra's adoptive father. As an adopted daughter myself, I always thought of my adoptive parents as my family. I have biological parents out there who I'm grateful for, but my adoptive parents are no different. I really hope Disney can show what adoptive parents can be for children. True and wonderful parents.

I hope if we find out that it's Zhan Tiri cause the idea of Gothel straight up sleeping with a demon is amazing. Also curious how pregnancy even worked for Gothel with the whole rapid aging thing. I also hop we get an episode with her adopted father soon to get his take on everything.

Damn if it is quirin, that's gonna get real awkward for Varian😂 Though I really think it being zhan tiri would be the most interesting, king Edmund makes the most sense out of all these. Especially with the sibling relationship Eugene and Cass already had. Though of course it could be someone we've never even seen before, it's not like a new character would be impossible🤷 either way it doesn't seem very important to the story at the moment, so they may never say, but it would be interesting to know even if it isn't relevant to the plot.

yeah but Cassandra always New she was adopted since this happened while she was like 3 or 4. She didn’t know her moms name because she was to young to know her mom as anything but momma. And since she’s in her 20’s now she could’ve easily forgotten what her mom looked like UNTIL seeing her again (something that does happen in real life). Also I’d like to add that Gothel WAS taking rupunzel to her home but stopped once she saw the guards already there. Whether she was going to live there with the two girls OR just pack up stuff and go chances are rupunzel and Cassandra would’ve actually of grown to be sisters. I believe gothel was going to stay in her home with the two girls and keep them alive so that she could stay young forever.

I think Cassandra's father could be King Edmund as it makes sense or maybe he's somebody we don't know about.

As much as it might be Shorty, im starting to believe that it is King Edmund of the Dark Kingdom. The moonstone feeds off of negative emotions, and because of what Gothel did, in abandoning Cass and kidnapping Rapunzel as a baby, that's how Cass can wield the moonstone's power. As for relations, Gothel could have manipulated Edmund during his time of distraught, when his wife died, and he banished all the subjects of the kingdom, having access to the moonstone, and creating Cassandra in the process, possibly making her Eugene's younger sister. Just a theory.

Even if we see her bio father I’d like to see it resolve with Cass feeling like the captain of the guards is still her “real” father. It’d be nice to have a moral like “your parents aren’t the people who birthed you but the people who raised you”, I think a lot of adopted kids should hear that.

I personally think the Zhan Tiri theory makes the most sense with the King of the dark kingdom being a close second for one reason, which is something several others have pointed out in the comments below... Why would Gothel keep a pregnancy of a no one (that is someone without power)/why would she keep a pregnancy that didn't have a reason? It seems less likely that she would have had a spur of the moment I want a baby thought than having a child for a reason. In particular, the Zhan Tiri theory where they both agreed to it for the reason of creating someone who could indeed retrieve the moonstone. I think that makes the most amount of sense.

There are a few problems with this theory such as king Edmond saying he hadn't spoken to anyone since he banished his people and Zhan Tiri's voice actor is female, and yeah I can't imagine Hector or Qurin being her father either, I'm kind of feeling like they aren't going to touch on who her father is but who knows at this point

What if Eugene and Cassandra were half siblings. I mean that is crazy. I like to think that they are family.

It's possible that Gothel had a lover from the Royal Palace of Corona, most likely the Captain of the Guards. I'm saying that because it's possible that since Gothel knew it where to find Rapunzel in the castle, the captain most likely once took Gothel to a date in the castle, and showed her all the rooms in the castle, including the King Frederik and Queen Arianna's personal chambers. Also, possibly Gothel took refuge into the woods to raise Cassandra, and later Rapunzel in the hidden tower that possibly Gothel already had for a long time, because in some places since the Ancient Times, single mothers were considered disgraced people.

I think what we really need is a show or even a game (it will be even more fun!!) revealing Gothel's story, from her very beginning to her death. Even when the end is known, I think it will be interesting.

In my opinion I think king Edmond is her father because when was anout to touch the moonstone he didn't die. When Cassandra touched it she didn't die so it makes sense that both Eugenie and Cassandra could be siblings.

Speaking of fathers, I have a theory that Lizardos is Pascal's father. It's strange how Pascal's mother was the only parental figure present in any of Pascal's childhood flashbacks from the episode, "Pascal's Story". So where could his father be? If my theory is correct, then Lizardos would be at Teripai Island taking on his responsibility as king over the Lorbs. In some way, Lizardos probably went away to Teripai Island sometime before Pascal was born.

I would rule out Quirin (Varian's Father) and King Edmund given that they both respectively had a wife in paintings and look NOTHING like Mother Gothel.

I just wanted to say that I love your approach to this topic. When there was a lot of discourse over who was Rey's parents (from Star Wars) a lot of the discussion was massively misogynistic with Rey's importance being stripped away from her and focused instead on an (assumed male) ascendant. But you fully accept Cassandra's importance as an individual and acknowledge that while it might be fun to speculate it's possible her father is just unimportant. Also I adored the way you emphasised the importance of her adopted father as an influence on Cass. This was just such an insightful, mature and well done video and I wanted to thank you for that. Also it's definitely Shorty, no question.

I think King Edward is Cassandra's father. Why would Mother Goethel even raise her if she wasn't using her for some long drawn out plan, such as having a daughter who is the princess of the kingdom. She could rule if she keeps that flower and keeps young or even take over the kingdom pretending to be her daughter once her daughter was crowned Queen. But that plan would never have worked if she no longer had access to the flower's power, hence abandoning Cassandra. Besides I think after all the years of exposure to the Moonstone King Edwards children would have any affinity for it, which may explain why Eugene & King Edward did not die, but Eugene's mother did when the King touched the stone. However, Cassandra being a product of both Moonstone & the Sun Drop powers allows her to not only touch the Moonstone, but to use it.

I belive the motive that she could get the moonstone is or because of her right hand being that have being afected by a moonstone incanction and not being really alive anymore or because her primery goal don't being to posse it exacly it was indeed to protect Rapunzel

Something I noticed about the guard adopting her her mom stole the new princess wouldn't that make her a pariah to people heck wouldn't somebody mocked or bully her about her mom stealing the princess I think the guard used his authority to conceal her parentage so she wouldnt be harrassed most her life.
