This whole dance it seems they all know exactly when to do something but not exactly how to do it. This leads to tight timing but a lot of freedom in those brief in between movements. It is here that we see the little add ons some girls do to get where they need to be which is why this dance is great to look at. Because there are so many girls, sync issues happen a lot. Their sync is good for the number of them, they’re often considered very in sync as a group, but there are many many times at least one person does the wrong thing, finishes early, forgets a detail etc. I don’t actually mind it bc I like noticing these differences as I talk about in the end.
All the members are clearly talented and this isn’t an easy dance at all. I would recommend watching this video through once and then watching it slowly to catch the moves and comments. Sorry everything goes so fast!
This isn’t a ranking at all but here is the approx amount of time I focused on each member for their “best” move.
Chaeyeon 47s
Chaewon 44s
Eunbi 31s
Yena 17s
Wonyoung 17s
Yujin 13s
Minju 11s
Sakura 11s
Yuri 9s
Hitomi 7s
Nako 7s
Hyewon 5s
Here are my overall observations about each girl and why they may have gotten what they did.
Chaeyeon
A spectacular dancer. Literally stunning control of her body and great sense of timing. She flows from one move to the next very well. I think her only issues would be some angles where she isn’t holding her arms as straight or is leaning or hunching too much. Also, despite her good overall timing, she often finishes moves a bit early which loses her a number of “bests”.
Chaewon
Very good at hitting the right form. Definitely knows what she’s doing as a dancer. She doesn’t quite have that same accurate control as CY or EB but she’s getting everything correct on paper. This dance suits her graceful yet sharp yet precise style perfectly. I think she could go in and add a little more personality to really put her over the top but I was quite impressed with her.
Eunbi
Beautiful form but lots of overdancing moments that cause her to actually do the wrong thing or go off time. If she filmed herself alone it would look really great but in a group setting it loses its harmony.
Yena
Great movements. She makes every beat very defined and does it well and on time. I think some moments she gets a bit off and hits the wrong poses though.
Wonyoung
Beautiful the whole way through. Very poised. With more practice she can master that groove and catch more of those little details.
Yujin
Sturdy and able to execute good shapes with her body. She is often a bit early on moves and seems to be thinking about each one then rushing sequences.
Minju
She is often one of the cleanest and adds proper charisma. Still, she misses those chances to go a step further and make them all connect together and struggles to move smoothly through some sequences and sometimes does the wrong thing.
Sakura
Keeps her body very poised throughout, making every move look pretty. However, she does lack that energy that really pumps out in the chorus and could focus more on little details and coordination things. So I think she shines more in slower movement, but in this kind of video that is good since they last longer. The reason she’s so high is bc one of her best moves was 7 seconds long.
Yuri
She doesn’t do anything notably wrong. Some moves she could commit more to like ducking all the way or getting all those tiny steps but really in a technical sense she is very capable.
Hitomi
She seems to be naturally good with doing the moves but not naturally good at sensing how to make them better. For example, her position is always quite nice and she is aware of her body yet she often does the move a tad wrong or moves awkwardly between moves. I’m surprised she ended up this low actually. Maybe it’s bc she’s never one of the worst but also rarely the best? If we ranked each person for every single move she’d be higher.
Nako
I think being small and wearing a skirt may be hindering her. Overall she knows what to do and does it well, especially small and sharp moves. I think just more focus in her arm movements, really getting that signature IZ*ONE grace, would benefit her a lot. It looks good but she often is moving them how she would stylistically, rather than in tune with some others.
Hyewon
Her biggest issue is that she doesn’t fully do a lot of the moves. She will be a little early or late on them and then cut out a detail to catch up. Hyewon is good at the graceful arm moves but lacks the proper tension in the sharp ones. This doesn’t mean Hyewon is bad, just that others have a little extra and someone ends up on the bottom. This is often bound to happen in any idol group, especially with so many people. And, again, this is only what I noticed for this particular video.
