I remember fighting Judge Doom, but not realizing that the Dip cannon was on a timer, and you had to grab it before it hit Roger and Jessica. I'd knock out Doom, and then just die, and not know wtf had happened.
This video is the gamer equivalent of climbing mount Everest. I don't know how many times I cried because of this game. Never could get pass the caves with invisible holes in them, and when I did the snake would bite me. Still, I could unleash my frustrations of Roger and the citizens by punching them with all my strength.
Watching people speed run games that the AVGN "reviewed" is awkward. It's funny and yet anger inducing since we too fought with these games and got no where.
Dude just crapped on my childhood in 5:55. Spent countless hours getting nowhere in this game. Still have it, now it’s tormenting my son. Might have to show him this video.
@@MarMaxGaming haha, we do. We have many systems. He mainly does Xbox, but we/he does our retro stuff as well. He was grinding Sega then went back to NES and was just playing this game. He’s really into PunchOut right now. It’s important to keep carts alive, and the ok’d systems that got us where we are. Shoot, he and I were playing burger time on Atari a couple weeks ago. Keep it all alive is what I say 🕹🎮
@@brettbaratheon9776 heck yeah, believe me, I love playing retro! I just lol’d from it being lost in a mess like Roger Rabbit. I’m all about those classics :) I’m on a rotation of 8bit, 16bit, and then a 32/64/128bit right now, it’s what my channel is based on. Gaming passion and appreciation!
@@MarMaxGaming hahaha, I hear you! I warned him that the game was awful. He really liked the movie so wanted to try it. Funny, that shit is STILL deceiving kids all these years later. Remember when we were young, saw the movie..... THEN THE GAME OUT! Ha, absolute trash, pretty much every one of them. Back to the Future was the biggest let down of my young life.
I remember when this came out, you could give Jessica a rose while she was on stage, and the phone number that appears would give you a tip to the game when you called it. I always thought that was pretty cool. Games now dont seem to do things like that
I miss instruction manuals, tip lines and the sheer joy of firing up a brand new cartridge. Games today have a serious lack of "soul". I mean there are still some damn fine games but it's the little extras that made them that much more special.
@@TooLameToDie the instruction manuals and maps were 2 of the best things back in the 8 and even 16 bit eras. You felt like you were going on a real adventure. To use an example I remember getting Ducktales for the Nintendo and reading on the bosses you had to fight....fast forward to the remake probably 20+ years later on ps3, and i remember when I saw the bosses thinking that's what my 9 year old mind had made them up to be all those years ago on the original game. Its funny what a little imagination and creativity can do to make something that might not be that visually impressive seem so much more of a big deal. It's a real shame the kids nowadays have had that part of gaming taken away from them because everything is photorealistic now
If I remember correctly, the code I got as a kid that gives you all the items (except for the dynamite, which you can purchase from the store immediately) is LLHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH3B. (Not sure how many Hs there are, but they fill up the middle, with LL and 3B at the ends.) I didn't think finishing the game this quickly was possible. Excellent work! (The only reason I have that code memorized after all this time is that it took forever for me to get that far in the game.)
There's a code i discovered as a kid where entering all 9s im the password then starting game will give you 2 items of everything and 1 piece of the will.
It's actually not that bad. There's a logic to it all, and it rewards exploration. Of the LJN games released, it's one of the better ones (which isn't saying much, but still)
I bought this game back in 1990 when I was still in high school. I couldn't make heads or tails how to play it though. I learned some good jokes from it though! LOL
I was obsessed with this game!!! Just tried playing, i lasted 5 minutes lol. Never could beat the ass as the end - never knew you had to punch him! im okay with that 😂
2:00 This music sounds so similar to ironsword. Also the music at 5:00, and at 5:27, you can hear the same sound clue/bug that is in ironsword when you take hits, you sometimes get that strange sound. It's weird.
I've watched a couple of different speed runs on this game now and I'm just curious is there a way to make sure that the items are in the same place as each time you play through because I thought the placements of the items were always randomized each time you played the game? Because you and this other guy's Speed Run I watched we're getting the exact same items at the exact same places for example like the dynamite at the store and the wallet right outside of Eddie's apartment is there a way to make Shirley items are always going to be exactly in one spot versus another on the game? Also what is the secret to speed running this game or attempting to speed run also I would like to know what the trick is on the last boss will you start pounding him over and over again because as a kid I was always taught that you're supposed to charge your fist up that's what he does and then hit him with a fully charged fist but not try to go for the over and over hits
Oh yeah i beat this game when i was a kid on the first day. I remember because that was also the day i beat NES TMNT right after i landed on the aircraft carrier in Top-Gun.. Wanna know my secret? Two words, POWER GLOVE!!
I had this game as a kid and for the life of me i could never get passes that dark tunnel part, i would always fall down and also when they choke rabbit and you have to answer the jokes, i was never quick enough but none the less i dont know why they made this game so tough
Why did this kid get killed by a random prop in the room but took a billion crushing punches from Dr Doom at the end?? That doesn’t make sense. Also, damn did he take a ton of punches to beat. Little Max didn’t even need that many to beat everyone including Iron Mike.
They had the potential for a really neat final boss here.. You have all these gag items and you're fighting an evil toon, but none of them do anything. What is even the point of those items and the magic buildings and all. Seriously one of the worst final boss designs for any game I ever played.
But Milon’s Secret Castle was fun to beat. This was painful and I could never seem to beat the judge. I can’t believe Rare made this- though I can believe LJN sold it.
Honestly, maybe 10 of them were worth that $50. I still have mine, and lightly collect them. Makes me happy and sad at the time paying $5-$10 for games our parents got ripped off on back in the day.
a perfect example of purchasing a name (in this case roger) and then putting out a completely shit game that has nothing to do with rogers world except his stupid blurry character, even as a kid who the whole video game thing was still amazing I would ride around in the car for a bit, then say this sucks and put in duck hunt
I thought the same (see my recent comment), the link says this was made by Rare and Capcom though, two highly praised studios. - Wait, then is says published by LJN? Where they acquired by Rare or Capcom later??? I don't know what's happening here...
@@ARUCARDFTEPES LJN never made games. They were just a publisher. All the games under their banner were outsourced. I think it was Beam Software that did the BTTF games.
