I don’t know how you didn’t do Lizard and Man bat they not only are both scientists who turn them selves into creatures by accident but they have the same name
I'm amazed that, when trying to give reasons for why you matched Bane and Venom against eachother, you didn't bring up that both were played by Tom Hardy as a reason.
@@MrToonsy basically riddler had a mental snap then decided to just live is life as an untouchable person, if batman or any law enforcement touch him he eliminates their loved ones or in batmans case a random person he even blackmails the rest of gothams crime lords to pay him, batman kills riddler because their is no other choice the police or criminal world won't touch him and the only thing protecting him is batmans own code
Flash does have a good rogues gallery, but I’d have to say third place goes to the X-Men. I mean, Magneto alone probably puts them in the conversation, but then there’s Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Mystique, Sabretooth, Deadpool and Emma Frost (started out as villains), Mojo, Bolivar Trask and his Sentinels, the Hellfire Club… I could go on and on.
Using Morlun of all people seems like pulling from the C list barrel to give Bats the win. Also I'd argue Supes has the 3rd best Rogues gallery simply because of Lex and Darkseid.
I personally would have switched Clayface and Mr. Freeze because he has a similar story to sandman and I think that would have been a more interesting matchup, but everything else was really cool and just an awesome video
Batman has the best villains ever. I feel like the Lizard and Man-Bat have more in common because Man-Bat is trying to cure his deafness, and Lizard is trying to regrow his arm. Scarecrow also knows martial arts and created his own form known as "Violent Dancing" and has been able to stand up to Batman and also his prolonged exposer to his Fear Toxin caused him brain damage which has made him not able to be afraid of anything, except Batman.
Green Goblin is almost an amalgam of Joker, Bane and Lex Luthor. With a “trying to recreate the super soldier serum” origin added on. He’s a mega Corp CEO and Super Scientist with more money than most governments and personal beef with the Hero like Lex, but he’s also a friend killing sadist like the Joker. And hes more than physical match for Spiderman thanks to his super drugs and was able to figure out the Spiders Identity like Bane. I know that this is more to do with comic writers taking ideas from each other than anything but i still find it interesting.
Spider-Man villains always seamed more random than Batman ones. Batman fight mostly mentally ill freaks or corrupt powerfull figures, but Spider-Man faces mostly people who just want to abuse their powers to make some cash or boderline sadists who just hate his guts and want to torment and kill him.
That's the worst way you could have ever described Spider-Mans villians and extremely biased towards Batman. Joker, Bane, Killer Croc, Penguin are also people who fall in the category of torturing Batman, money hungry and torment just cause of the fun of it. Most of Spider-Mans villians were just normal people who just got unlucky and got corrupted. You wanna tell me people like the Lizard, Venom, Carnage, Goblin, Mr Negative were just evil all the time?
I get giving the point to Scarecrow over Mysterio, but one point I think is noteworthy is how Mysterio has had more notable stories with greater impact. Crane tends to get sidelined by other villains, even in other stories mostly about him, unlike Mysterio who even caused Wolverine to kill all of the X-Men in Old Man Logan
That's a good point! I didn't take into consideration at all how these villains worked against other heroes - after all it was Scarecrow's fear toxin (used by Joker) that make Superman kill Lois in the Injustice timeline.
That’s more of a writing problem then a scarecrow problem I think pastra talked about this scarecrow can be as good as the joker but he isn’t cause of the writers
@@LimitedEye you're kidding right? Scarecrow would make him trip balls. Mysterio's illusions aren't real. For scarecrow each person lives their nightmare, plus the only thing crane fears most is batman. He would wipe the absolute floor with that glorified scooby doo villian 😂
Interesting video, I'd say part of the flip between Batman and Spider-Man, with Spidey, it is his life, and it all folds down to that, while with Batman, its about making sure what happened to him as a child never happens again to anyone else, thus Batman has a rather expansive feel in Gotham and DC comics, thus making his villains seem larger in scope. Spider-Man's villains will always circle back to informing on his struggles, his life, in some way.
I think I like Joker vs Batman more on an individual level with Peter vs Norman being close, but I like the way Green Goblin ties into the world as a whole a lot more than Joker.
As a long time, old ass jaded RU-vid watcher, this video needs a ton of work, but i dig it, and i am gonna subscribe so I can watch you grow into the potential. Keep up the good work
22:35 peter called aunt may saying he loved her when he was already 6 days without resting and morlun wait for him to finish
The reason i think Ock stands over Riddler really. I Ock by and large is unchanged from his original design, out the box he was perfect. Riddler has had change in design many times, not just costume, but personality.
Flash may come in 3rd for the best rogue’s gallery (his “Sinister Six” are literally called “The Rogues”), I’d personally give 4th to the X-Men because they all represent something so sadly real within humanity
Spider-Man will always be my favorite superhero. However, I would have to give this to Batman. Both are amazing, but Joker honestly seals the deal (even though he is used too much).
You can tell this video was made by a Spider-Man fan because the whole structure is designed to make it seem like Spidey has a chance against Batman's rogues. Pitting villains against each other sounds good on paper, but it kinda ignores the fact that Batman just has a greater number of interesting villains. Sure, Venom might be more interesting than Bane (He's not but let's pretend), but that doesn't matter when he's one of only like four interesting ones, the others just being one-note animal themed crooks. Spider-Man's rogues gallery is considered the second best in comics because it's full of colourful bad guys with different superpowers that can be fun in episodic adventures (like in an animated TV show). But when talking about interesting characters? It's not even close. Batman clears. Btw, Flash IS third, but that's only because Superman is second and Spidey fourth.
0:20 personally I think 3rd place goes to punisher, flash is 4th Also I feel like Kraven would've been a better comparison for bane
Huge missed opportunity not to do a match up between Kraven the Hunter and Deathstroke. Also, I get why you paired Sandman against Clayface, but I would have paired Clayface against the Chameleon because they can both impersonate others’ identities. The only other Batman villain you could compare Chameleon to would be Hush. And just one more thing… you have to pair Killer Croc against the Rhino.
Honestly I wouldn't of used characters that are now of days on the side of good like Venom and instead saved them for a allies video. As not only are these characters haven't been villains in decades, comparing Venom to Red Hood/Jason would've been far more fitting than Bane IMO. Besides as you already mentioned Carnage is already there.
Would you make a part 2 of this video? This idea is very interesting, and I'm kinda curious how would you match up Kraven, Mad Hatter, Scorpion, Firefly and so on
18:26 so I recently learned in case no one knows because I also didn't know but Flint Marko has a real name it's William Baker. I learned this through a game called Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. For the longest time I thought sandman was only Flint Marko through the movies. Just wanted to share this around because I'm certain most people like myself didn't know about Sandman's real name.
Venom Lizard Doc Ock Kingpin Tie between Scarecrow and Mysterio Black Cat Sandman Ra's Al Ghul Green Goblin Joker and Two-Face might be more iconic, I still prefer Green Goblin and Lizard more Spider-Man wins for me
This was a good vid analysis and pretty much agree with your picks... Except for the Cat Women. Since Selina is more likely to team up with Bruce than fight him, I'd argue that she's more of an anti-hero than a full on villain nowadays. At least when compared to Felicia, who's more likely to fight Peter and try to seduce him to the darkside and Spidey tries to bring her to the light side with little to no success. I mean yeah she'll team up with Spider-Man and other heroes, but once the dust settles and the big villain is defeated, she's already out of there with her goods
Why? His villians except the ones that are speedsters are much weaker than him and only manage to give him a challenge due to plot induced stupidity. His only villians that are strong enough to tangle with him have the exact same powers as him which is also pretty lame.
Only reason I feel like spider man has better villains is because he actually fights majority of them Batman has too many villains that really have no chance against him they weak as hell tbh
15:12 maybe (he also make old man Logan kill all the x-men and sometimes brings back Gwen Stacy or makes peter think he impregnated also Gwen Stacy)
This is a terrible analysis, as soon as venom beat bane you could tell it’s very biased. He used knull, carnage etc to edge out the point however they are characters of their own they aren’t extensions of venom. Villains are based on how they impact their heroes which is why bane would take the point because some would argue that he did more to Batman than characters like joker whereas venom lacks some aspects to him which is filled by green goblin or doc oc
OMG OMG OMG! I have watched this video on RU-vid with G SMOKE 🇺🇸🐐🚬0⃣3⃣😜🖕💛🖕💛 and Black Eric Cartman and it was awesome! I loved both the Batman villains and the Spider-Man villains because they have very good potential and are very iconic! Willem Dafoe is the goated of them all because he's very good at acting! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
