Don't forget some of Eggman's badniks. They have such an advanced AI, they literally have SENTIENCE. And he uses them to make HUGE scale projects. The Death Egg. The Egg Fleet. The Faceship. These are just some of the stuff that Eggman has done. Sure, Tails could do the same, but he is only one person, while Eggman has an entire armada of badniks. Plus, Eggman probably has more fighting experience when it comes to mechs and such. If we fight Eggman, we never see him without some kind of flying machine or mech. Even if they are kind of underwhelming, just think. Even when Eggman first went to South Island, he was able to make an entire city, an army of Badniks to roam the many stages, AND be a constant challenge to Sonic. Eggman could probably make a giant mecha on the fly. But on Tails' side, at least he's on the correct moral side.

On the comment itself I agree with everything Egg man is my opinion leagues above tails, not that tails is a moron compared to him a couple perhaps technological things like in that one moment at the end of Sonic lost world as the video states (since “intelligence” doesn’t exactly at times refer to knowing what you can do like strength on knowing how to fight).
Plus, Tails has never actually seen his full potential because he's always working behind Sonic's back, even Eggman recognizes that, so now that he's decided to continue his own way, he might actually see it for once.

I think Tails is smarter, but doesn't have the resources and experience as Robotnik. If Tails at a young age have a similar level of intelligence as Robotnik in his middle age( I.Q of 300). The I.Q 400 attack of Tails is a foreshadowing of his I.Q once he gets older.

If the Phantom ruby is more powerful than even the Master Emerald n Infinite being stronger than Solaris, then Sega/Sonic Team sure made a poor showcase of the Phantom ruby's power tbh. Super Classic Sonic defeated the Phantom Hard Boiled Heavy and even Modern Sonic solo Infinite along with the Rookie with no super forms which Solaris was defeated by 3 super hedgehogs (Tbf each super hedgehog had to defeat Solaris from past, present, future but still the fact that Solaris had the power to do that n 3 super hedgehogs was still needed is still more impressive imo). I don't doubt that the Phantom ruby is the most powerful gem, just wish Sega/Sonic Team could have showcase more impressive feats by the user, especially Infinite.

I don't exactly think that being tricked by Eggman counts as being less smart, but more likely naivety. Tails is still an 8 year old kid, even a smart person at young age can be tricked if they have less social intelligence (not sure if that's the correct word). Especially as someone who canonically has been picked on by anyone except Sonic and his friends he never really developed too many social interactions to "read" people. Like, Gohan from Dragonball Z is very smart unlike his father, however even he falls for the same tricks as Goku and Vegeta in the past when fighting his ultimate villain. His naivety and the fact that he underestimated Cell in that given moment when he punched 18 out, convinced him that it was over. TL:DR I also believe Tails can surpass Eggman with enough time passed. Just look what Nine accomplished in Sonic Prime, that was genuinely impressive.

I have to admit eggman was right on one occasion, that the only thing that's holding tails back is hanging out with sonic. not putting his smarts to use much and rather learning skill is sort of stumping his levels. eggman on the other hand uses his intellect a lot more than tails does, therefore he can't work off of anything.

I think that this is a pretty hard question. Tails, while he does have the same iq as eggman, he isn’t as technologically gifted as eggman, BUT he almost certainly has mor common sense than eggman with multiple examples that are ESPECIALLY shown in the idw comics
Ultimately, it depends on your perspective. 1. Intellectual competence- Tails wins because his gadgets usually come through at the end of the day whereas Eggman typically wastes time creating armies of robots that Sonic and his friends just shred through with ease. 2. Common sense- Eggman at his best is FAR smarter than Tails. One should look at probably the best written scene in Sonic history where Eggman traps Sonic and dupes Tails into revealing that Sonic held the key to destroying the Eclipse Cannon in his hands, thus giving Eggman the insurance he needed that he could kill Sonic without hindering HIS plans. 3. Intellectual curiosity- Tails and Eggman are about even but Eggman would ultimately come out on top. In the 3D games, up until Sonic Colors, Eggman heavily researched the beings that would ultimately become the final boss. Tails would do the same but by the end of most of the games, wouldn’t know any more than Sonic. This is especially apparent with the Rivals games where Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Rouge (in Rivals 2 anyway) never even found out that the villain wasn’t even the present day Eggman. Now, in the Riders games, Tails deduced things A LOT quicker than Eggman did. So, if we’re being honest, this is a close category but the ratio is more in Eggman’s favor at the end of the day. 4. Planning- This is ultimately a tie due to the pre-Unleashed 3D games. Tails’s plans that involve stopping Eggman at the end typically succeed. However, in the long term, Eggman’s plans that he set in motion typically succeed. For instance, in Sonic Adventure, Eggman’s core plan was to ensure that Chaos got all the emeralds and destroy Station Square which he did, even though Chaos betrayed him before Eggman could complete the extra part of building Robotnikland on top of the ruins. In SA2, A LOT of Eggman’s plans succeed. He plows through Prison’s Island’s defenses to release Shadow, is able to blow up prison island after obtaining 3 chaos emeralds, his display of the Eclipse Cannon’s power motivates Sonic and his friends to go the Ark and essentially hand the last chaos emerald to him on a silver platter, he outsmarts Tails to give Sonic a death sentence and then takes the emerald from Tails after beating him in a fight (the last few scenes of the Dark story and the beginning of the Last Story pretty much confirm that the last scene in the Hero story is not cannon). The only thing Eggman didn’t foresee was Shadow misleading him about the true purpose of gaining all the emeralds. In Sonic 06, Tails is pretty much intellectually useless to the narrative beyond the novelty of Sonic having him and Knuckles tagging along. This is mainly due to the game’s writers clearly not understanding how to properly utilizing Sonic’s story compared to the campaigns for Silver and Shadow. Eggman on the other hand, is able to capture Elise multiple times and is able to trap Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles in the future. Eggman ultimately fails in a more traditional sense and because he, like the rest of the cast is not aware of an overlooked plot point: There are 2 versions of Mephiles running around throughout the games. There is the one from the present who Shadow and Eggman accidentally release and who is ultimately destroyed by Shadow, Rouge, and Omega. Then there is the one from the future who is manipulating Silver and Blaze but never reveals himself to the rest of the characters until he kills Sonic and releases Iblis. In the rest of the 3D games, Tails takes home the trophy though. So yeah, this debate really does depend on what you means by “smarter.”

It is a being that existed before time meaning it is smarter than everyone including Eggman and Tails making it have the biggest of brains. Tails is smarter for a simple reason. The only reason he hasn't done the things Eggman has is because he isn't evil and has no reason to. He typically sticks with smaller machines, because that's really all he's ever needed to beat Eggman. These are the things that theorists always seem to conveniently forget. When Tails is seen at his full potential against an enemy that requires more firepower, he can build a freaking Death Star laser, and unlike Eggman's, it doesn't just destroy half of the moon or put you in a boss fight that requires a bunch of Perfect Parries to beat, but it can vaporize a star and alter the universe. If Tails ever became evil, it would probably be an extinction-level event.

Idk if you know but I saw I thing for mecha Sonic (Sonic &Knuckles sky sanctuary boss) of his fight against knuckles,when he is charging up with the master emerald you can see an eye that looks the same as the mushroom hill and hydrocitys act 1 boss fight eyes and death eggs act 2 boss (pre final boss)maybe you could find something to connect to that idk..

This is a very well made video, however i will say there were many things left out. Tgis first one being Tails actually does have his own games, just only on the game gear sadly, i would love to see new ones. Another being in Tails' official description it says he has a mechanical prowess and IQ that rivals that of Eggman's. Now I'm not gonna list everything, but the fact that tails has already done everything he has done at such a young age make me think that by the time hes a teenager he will have far surpassed Eggman. Now whether Eggman is currently smarter or not as of right now we can definitely say Tails is a better character. Still a good video nonetheless

The Phantom Ruby isn’t stronger than the Chaos Emerald, if it was he would’ve said so. He just said he wouldn’t need it. It’s like the Master Emerald is a 100 and the Phantom Ruby is passable enough to where he wouldn’t need a 100. They could be on a similar tier of power but it isn’t stronger.
