After the fifth phase voting of the Lok Sabha election 2024, The Wire's Arfa Khanum Sherwani tries to gauge the mood of the nation. A distinguished panel, including Prof Ravikant, Saba Naqvi, Ajoy Ashirwad and Sravasti Dasgupta, analyse the election so far.

The last time I voted in a national election in India was in the 1960s when Indira Gandhi split with the old Congress and energized the country around her progressive platform. Watching from a distance, I see Rahul Gandhi doing something similar. You may remember Indiraji's slogan: "Garibi hatao." Isn't that the core of Rahulji's promise? Also, like Indiraji, I see her grandson bringing about a generational shift in coalition leadership. A very exciting moment in India's political history, which is also very hopeful.
