K is Korean pop music, J is Japanese pop music. I thought this was the Taylor Guide to the Members...I hope you'll watch if you haven't seen it. It's a little longer but we're here for it cause you'll learn much more about each of them and all about the fan base. They have a great comedy variety show (Run BTS) where they participate in challenges and compete against each other....they are hilarious. ARMY grandma...oh and fyi....if you think you hear them saying the N word, it's not....in Korean there is a word 'naega' means 'I'.

This how Suga of BTS responded when asked in an interview if he considered kpop a genre. "K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better."

People think of Kpop as a genre if they are unfamiliar with it, but it's really a specific industry. Kpop can sound like almost anything: pop, hiphop, EDM, dubstep, folk, trap, rock, R&B, metal, ballad, regaeton...Top groups like BTS will often do many of these genres as the same group, other groups specialize in a certain sound. But Kpop is a specific industry in Korea where artists usually go through a training period, usually have synchronized choreography, usually try and look very attractive, have high production music videos, and usually will compete on weekly music shows. These music shows are a battle in the charts but also a platform to perform live against other groups. The Kpop industry is pushing 40 years old and has had an international audience for 30 years. Spreading through Asia first, then in the last 15 years the rest of the world. for the last 7 or so years BTS has really been the ones to bring Kpop into the mainstream conscious in America. Also Kpop artists and fans have kind of created their own culture, much like hip hop or rock has it'sj own culture associated with it

Kpop idol don't wear wigs, even bts. Kpop idols color their hair and maintain beautifully and healthy. In BTS, Suga is the one who color his hair the most than her other members.

Girl I found you from your Eminem reactions and being a BTS fan also makes me happy to see this. I hope you get to react to the solo albums and mixtapes of the three rappers in BTS, especially Agust D (SUGA).

I’m going to try to answer several questions you had during your reaction, but I don’t see answered yet. Jin is now 31 years old and is the oldest in the group. The other members’ ages are: SUGA/Agust D 30, j-hope 29, RM 29, Jimin 28, V 28, Jung Kook 26. I’m sure you know that all 7 are currently serving in the South Korean military as required of all able-bodied men. It was Jimin who was wearing the earrings you liked, not Jin. He is also the one showing his abs in their debut song, “No More Dream”. Jimin is a Libra and although he does strive for excellence, he has matured and no longer gets upset if he’s not perfect. This video is so old and really focused on the members’ as they were 6-8 years ago. Obviously, people mature so much from their late teens/early 20s to their late 20s/early 30s. I really hope you watch Taylor Mari’s Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7. To be honest, it’s not completely up to date (accurate as of May 2022), but she is working on an update to show what’s happened so far in their 2nd Chapter. I assume you’re aware that they have all released solo projects over the past year and a half. All have been phenomenal and new records are constantly being broken. Their individual music styles are so different from each other, but when they come together it’s pure magic. Another bit of info, until June 2023, South Korea used a different age system than the rest of us. So, when JK says he was 15 when he joined BTS, he was actually 13 and 15 when they debuted. Oh, and you pronounce Seoul just like soul. It’s the capital of South Korea and you’ll see and hear about it a lot more. There is a fan made series called “The Rise of Bangtan” which consists of 21 episodes. It’s as good as any documentary you would see on Netflix, for real! Watching it would really make learning about BTS so much more fun. It delves into what K-Pop is, how BTS is different from other idol groups and just amazing footage of them from pre-debut through 2018ish. There is so much BTS content! It’s mind blowing how they have documented their journey from pre-debut until now. I still discover new things every single day. I hope this has helped a little bit. the difference between pop, rap and kpop: kpop is not a musical style but a term which designates the "mainstream" music industry produced in South Korea. It is made up of both groups and individual artists. The artists who compose it are called "idols" so many musical genres will be found under the name kpop as well as rap, pop, r&b, jazz, rock..... Sometimes several of these musical styles will even cohexite in a single song

You better careful when talking about bts

Kpop isn't a genre. Kpop is an industry. Every genre appears in the kpop industry. It's a bit misleading to people who aren't familiar with the music. Think of it like this.... Imagine if ALL popular music from Great Britain was called British pop. 🤷
