Learn about Doug Pederson's journey to becoming the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from his 12-year playing career to coaching at the high school level before seven years as an NFL assistant...
Doug Peterson wouldn't be a Superbowl championships coach had it not been for Nick the quarterback Jedi-master Foles. The guy who's making it possible last season, Is still making it possible this season and is the reigning Superbowl MVP benched champion quarterback who is routinely summoned to salvage and save the eagles season under chip Kelly and Doug Peterson's regime out performing both starting quarterbacks Michael Vick and Carson wentz. He's not a backup quarterback he's a legendary Philadelphia quarterback icon( the finisher.) He's earned the franchise quarterback position it's shameful to see the disrespect. He says it's not about 1 guy it is if that 1 guy creates the sparks that ignites the flames that starts an eagles inferno capable of defeating any NFL team in its path your own team recognise who the real MVP quarterback is as they rally behind him. Your Too prideful and arrogant to admit you may be wrong about both quarterbacks. Your glorifying an amateur rookie quarterback prematurely proclaiming him greater than he actually is. Carson was thrown directly into the fire and now being consumed within the flames. Most NFL franchise quarterbacks under development spend year's learning in the shadows of a quarterback mentor not Carson wentz. The organization placed him in front of his mentor in a supportive role. That's backwards and might be detrimental and creating irreversible physical and psychological damage especially since he's watching his veteran mentor out perform him on the biggest stage. How Demoralizing it must be for him. Now they want to trade a reigning Superbowl MVP quarterback because his performance is bruising ego's and making the coach, sport's analyst"Howie, critics and skeptics look ridiculous when they keep betting against him they loose. reiterating Carson is our guy he is the franchise quarterback of the future but ironically in the present Nick Foles is obtaining Lombardi trophies in the present. We live in the moment and in this moment Nick has earned the franchise quarterback tag. You want to wait for futuristic Superbowl's with a rookie quarterback with 0 full NFL season experience 0 play-off experience 0 Superbowl experience and an ominous recurring disturbing theme is occurring: injury prone.Superbowl championships now or futuristic that is the question will the real MVP champion quarterback repeat? If he does will everyone still smoking crack continue to say Carson is better? We shall see. If the eagles get into the playoffs Nick the quarterback Jedi-master Foles will repeat and say back-up quarterback that!!
Most fans obviously know he’s good cause he won a Super Bowl, but fans who played and/or understand the X’s and O’s of football know WHY he’s so good. His playcalling is unparalleled. Lost his QB, left tackle, best return man and middle linebacker & signal caller, but kept winning. That, my friends, is the sign of a genius coach.
ShadowFaction24 woah der! I need you to stop dissing the greatest franchise in league history. I accept your apology in advance. 70s Steelers were quacks.
As A Giants fan, the people of Philly and the Eagles players made it SO easy to hate them my whole life. Unfortunately, I felt a change in the way the Eagles were doing business a few years ago. They got rid of the flashy players..the guys that were good for business but were not Championship pedigree. A tide shift came when they traded up to draft a Championship QB, a guy not a lot of people believed in but I knew would be a STUD so naturally I was pissed off they didn't go for the usual and draft a unlikeable player. Then they brought in a coach nobody heard about. I was happy to hear the media call him the "most unqualified" so naturally I was hoping for his demise BUT something deep down was telling me this guy GOT IT(of course I was wishing I was wrong). And then......basically, something I NEVER WANTED TO SEE HAPPEN, happened. The Eagles for the first time in my life, became a team that's just hard to hate. This team's love of God and each other is something special to see, and should be an expanse for NFL front offices moving forward. The more I learn about guys like Peterson, Wentz, Foles, Ertz, the more I find it hard for me to hate the freaking Eagles! Damn you Howie Roseman!
Philadelphia's Hero that finally got it done, they were calling for his head last season. The plays he calls, he's got some big ones. He seems like a great down to earth guy and all the players seem to love him including me.
Nah...it was all Howie! He's the one who told Doug that He was gonna get him, and asked him what he thought about it...and Doug couldn't believe it! He was surprised and had no idea that Howie was making a move to get him
A career backup QB as a head coach A career backup QB as a OC A career backup QB as a starting QB THEY HAVE TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE about every play, every scheme they make and possible the other team makes. It makes perfect sense that those 3 help the eagles win the SB
The most underrated coach in the 2017/2018 season. Mike Lombardi said this man was not a good coach. All the analysts picked other coaches and other teams to win the Super Bowl. Sucks to be anyone that bet agains the Eagles this year lol! Go Birds!
Maybe its because frank reich and the other coaches that left and Pederson taking over someone else's hard work. Maybe its Pederson has no clue wth he's doing. Maybe it was a dud. Actually no yeah everything I said is true.
As a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles am so pleased and honored to have waited so long to have a coach like Doug Pederson to be the lead guy for our beloved Eagles. The closeness and the respect coach P. has brought to this organization bestows nothing but respect and pride for the challenges that we have concored, and to the future challenges of this special group of guys. It makes me proud every time they step out on any field, ready to play their hearts for their beloved city, owner and fans
Well, who would have thought he would be able to out coach Bill Belichick in a Super Bowl? This guy has the big ones it takes to be a coach at this level, that is for sure!
Scott Wiens the eagles worked very hard to win that game. They had the more talented roster and a defense that was so much better than new englands. In fact only 1 maybe 2 players on that defense would start elsewhere. And they made the big play to win the gamr. Without the strip sack they lose to a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers on defense.
Foles is probably watching and getting goosebumps at the same time .. similar stories with both getting what anybody in the nfl would want a Super Bowl under there name
I see Doug Pederson as one of those rare coaches that would make a difference with borderline playoff teams, like Dallas, Detroit, San Diego....etc. He seems to just *get it* when it comes to putting the right players in the right spots, for a team to suceed.
Take a moment to look back at all of his mentors, teachers, and influences: - Don Shula - Dan Marino - Mike Holmgren - Andy Reid - Doug's players - countless others Also, I give Doug credit for the ability to humble himself enough to want to learn from some of the NFL Greats. Then, throw in the compassion he has for his staff and his players. It's the PERFECT formula for a long-term successful NFL Head Coach. No wonder so many players want to come to Philadelphia...to play for Coach Pederson! There's NO WAY this guy will be a One-Hit-Wonder, NO WAY!!!!
I simply didn't understand the dumb media's reasoning for not giving this guy a chance and for Mike Lombardi to claim he was the worst hire in NFL history. Him coaching in high school.... who cares? We've known too many NFL coaches that didn't know what the heck they were doing and shouldn't have been coaching (i.e. Ben MacAdoo, Hue Jackson, etc..). I heard someone say, if you can coach, you can coach. It's really all about opportunity and the situation you're in. That's so true. I was fine with him getting the job.. I knew he couldn't be much worse than Chip Kelly.
