#Newzroom405's Xoli Mngambi and Tumaole Mohlaoli unpacks Sodi's tender trail and testimony at the #StateCaptureInquiry. Tune into #Newzroom405 for more.
Paying taxes in SA is the saddest thing... If it were not a crime, most of us wouldn't pay it cos wow. It's just going straight into the pockets of boSodi
Hopefully our political leaders too will get to be held to account ,and this thing of them being released on bail till the next appearance is not good at all
ANC has done so much damage to our country its so unforgivable! Sodi is not a business man, he is a thief. Batho ba so ba tlhatsisa...no shame in stealing from the poor.
The Asbestos tender itself never ballooned to R1billion. The tender was R255m (which which had only cost around R24m to complete). This is bad reporting. Blackheads turnover of over R1b is from multiple department of human settlement contracts it had received throughout the year. The various construction contracts were listed on the companies website. Sodi also owned 50% of another construction contractor which has performed various mega contracts around the country.
A call for the government to launch probes on the so-called municipal projects especially in disadvantaged townships,I am 25 and the area where I am from is almost as old as I am. We have no water, proper sanitation and no roads,I willing to warger that the state believes we have one or all of the mentioned according to municipal records.
The problem is that these thieves get celebrated after a few years, classic example is Shaun Mpisane i.e. the infamous "Mam Mkhize", she has no shame driving europeans cars with money supposed to build for million of poor people.
Shaun Mpisane's legal woes had nothing to do with her contract to build houses but VAT inflated VAT claims in order to get a deduction from SARS. There is no information that suggests that she hasn't performed as contracted. There is no correlation between the two, just putting that out there. Just hit Google searches on people don't listen to social media too much.
@@Musa-ut6ce Okay I hear your point, but I am talking from knowledge I have of her under her former name "Shaun Mpisane". Shauwn Mpisane is associated with shoddy workmanship, some RDP houses are even just shells with no services in them, some unfit for human occupation. If she was suppose to bag 10% of the project value, she would take a ridiculous portion. That is she even went as far as trying to avoid paying taxes. She was a classic case of corruption during the Thabo Mbeki days. So for every super car she has, that could have built a decent household for those who live in shacks.
@@BahariNyeusi The houses were then destroyed and rebuilt after that whole incident according to the Daily Maverick in an article detailing her life from 2004-2013. I think there are bigger classic cases of corruption from that era but what do I know.
@@Musa-ut6ce Ever had the words "inefficiencies", "wastage expenditure", "immorality". The problem is that the voices of the most venerable people in society are never loud, if they were you would hear about all the problem they face with service delivery. By the way most services that are meant for the poorest people in South Africa are always of the lowest quality, look every where it is clear the see that masses of people with very little financial power are always treated as second class citizens.
@@BahariNyeusi That's the product of capitalism and racism for the most part because are always those of a darker skin, not sure how it correlates with what we have been talking about though but yeah. There isn't anything wrong with what you are saying I am just confused what that has to do with this.
Not a piece of work done ?? I know people take money, do the job and inflate the costs . Seriously if it is that bad, have a lawyer answer your questions. Do not look stupid . Even the white dude is like what was the money for 😂😂😂😂 paid to ??? Jail bird !!
I believe there is no better crime, all these crimes should be treated the same stealing is stealing. We have leaders who are Mafias am not surprised to see all these big names like Sodi, steinhof, KMGP etc.....
They didn't take a billion. The joint venture got paid R255m (Diamond Hill (With links to Ace) and Blackead). The last payment of R70m was withheld by Diamond Hill, the other company which Blackhead (Edwin Sodi) took to court over the payment and apparently lost the case. The owner of Diamond Hill got killed in Sandton afterwards. The R350m are the total assets that the state has "seized" of everyone accused in the scandal, mostly belonging to Sodi who is the richest of all the accused. This is all the senior members of the department and various businesses which were subcontracted to do the job.
@@Kaleidoscopejoey The reporter isn't talking the truth. You can go check online on any platforms and you won't find a single article that says that this contract was ballooned to a billion. I think they confused the amounts that he has received from his other contracts with various government entities. The contract was ballooned to that R255m that made out in various payments. The job itself on cost R24m to perform through various subcontractors since Blackhead couldn't perform it themselves.
to think how rich Sa is,, has the biggest gold coal reserves in the world, think diamonds also,, it has copper zinc platinum mines, and is now a poor bankrupt country,, so bad . has how many companies to make petrol from coal,,
@@tumizasation then you don't know how much 💸 the government owe the world Bank, if it has 💸 then why is their loadshedding,if thy had money why is theer only potholed road's,if the country had money why is their so much poverty, definitely you don't know what is happening in your country, thy had to borrow money from world Bank to buy vaccine
Blame the ANC nobody else he himself admitted his cronies have to pay the ANC money here and there for what was that?to turn a blind eye to all the wrong doings?
South Africa must establish a state owned company which has branches. The company will be responsible for the development of the country from road, house, rail construction etc. We are tired of these third parties stealing the money.
I want fresh thinking in sa media .. this people are just used to old ways of doing news ..thy are just average .. SA is needs true investigative journos
@@MrLebohangk Are you beyond average yourself? give us an example of investigative journalism chief? lastly atleast they reporting corruption. wena what are doing
