Sunflowers are able to remove radiation and heavy metals from the soil while making the soil better for other crops. You could see it as the same as Goldmask
Local man points at a tree and demands an audience with God. Goes into a deep philosophical debate with the Greater will. Wins the argument and receives the solution to all the world's problems. What a chad.
The fact that you can tell this guy Marika's secret, he basically goes "Eureka!" And casually fixes everything and makes everyone happy whilst also winning an arguement against outer gods, definitely a gigachad.
@@TheDeadraven25 ending wise yes, but for the arguing with outer gods i'm pretty sure somewhere in yhe lore it says that, i kinda skip dialogue a lot anyway.
@@TheDeadraven25yes but no, the ending itself uses the word “fix” but actually reading it it’s a very bad ending. It’s just a reset to status quo but this time you have no choice but to like it nor do you have ambition.
@@MRDestructionmd it doesn't reset the status quo lol. It removes the power from gods, creating Basically a perfect order, the details are slim about the difference between the before and after, but as we now have been told, he fixes the golden order completely, even the those who live in death situation
For those who don't understand, the point of his mending rune is to make it so that no one, man or god, can alter the Elden Ring, perfecting the golden order.
He desires to remove intent in a way . Rid the imperfections of humans from the rule that governs them . Profound as shit and timely for today . I love the themes of religion corruption government and how they all blend together in Elden ring
@@corywittamori896no he doesn’t, he’s just preventing people from doing stuff like removing the concept of Dying (*cough cough MARIKA*) Even though the Golden Order is locked in with Goldmask’s Rune, the Golden Order by nature of physics includes everyone and grants the most freedom for creatures and deities like the Dragons, the Crucible, and the Astrologers.
@@ClaveBBY How would a new player know that just going off of the intro when they haven’t even played the damn game? For all they know it’s just an overly pompous backstory intro. Plus who knows, there could always be an exception.
This game's lore is so incredibly deep that, having not played it yet I watch these shorts and feel like a guy in multivariable calculus class who doesn't know what a limit is
It’s very complex mostly because the family tree it’s all based around makes almost no sense unless you have all the context behind each character and an accurate timeline
There iscurrently one web comic that is telling the story of Elden Ring. It is an indie project and not officially licensed. It is also very lighthearted and is meant to emulate the confusion, humor, frustration, and eventually despair a first time player feels. But there is a new officially licensed graphic novel in the works that tells the story of Elden Ring.
I find him to be the most compelling character for an ending, especially given the DLC. SPOILERS: The Dung Eater seems like he’s just imposing the Old Hornsent Crucible culture over the Erdtree, more so replacing one order for another, albeit through a violent method. Not any substantial change or improvement, only revenge. Fia is more ambiguous, as the Rune of Death was already freed, which would fix the problem of eternal life. Her focus on those who live in death is then questionable, made somewhat concerning given the continued spread of deathroot and its problems. The Age of Fracture is probably one of the worse endings, fixing nothing and continuing a decaying status quo. The Frenzied Flame is the worst by far, the ultimate surrender to despair and nihilism. It decides that the world is lonely and painful, and that you somehow have the authority to decide that no one should exist at all. For a good ending then, it really comes down to Ranni or Goldmask, both who have concerns with higher powers. Ranni seems to be more oriented to a hatred of the imposed fates by Metyr and the Fingers, with Goldmask being concerned over the actions of Gods like Marika, Miquella, and Ranni herself: beings who possess immense power and who can cause immense suffering as a result of their decisions and the consequent revolutions. Ranni’s solution is more obviously humanist, taking the Elden Ring and running away to allow people to make their own choices. It doesn’t overtly fix anything though, leaving problems like the Scarlet Rot and Deathroot to fester and trusting that things will somehow work out in the end. It also doesn’t implement any long term solutions, only one that lasts as long as she manages to survive in the stars. The Crucible Age didn’t last forever, nor did the Erdtree’s, so what happens when she falls? Goldmask takes a look at the bigger picture. How many people died because of Marika’s decisions on who she did or did not like? How many would die because of Miquella or Ranni? He puts a permanent stop to this, removing the ability of these insanely powerful gods to cause mass carnage due to their fickle choices. Ranni vs Goldmask is the age old question of revolution vs reform, and while revolutions might seem more exciting, more often than not they only serve to brutalize and destroy the very people it hopes to help. You ask me who I trust between the man able to communicate with the Greater Will itself when all others were tricked by Metyr or the woman who murdered her brother? I’m going with … all day
Couldn't have put it better myself, people are *WAY* too quick to think removing "emboldened ambition" means folks lose all free will. The idea is creating a system in which fickle human pettiness can't carry devastating metaphysical consequences like it did in Marika's Age. What I love about Ranni and Goldmask's endings is that they're the best, yet come from completely different angles. -Ranni from a "selfish", individualistic desire to reclaim her agency at any cost. It gets expanded into wanting to free humans from the meddling of the Gods. -Goldmask from a "selfless", collectivist desire to create a holistic Order wherein all can find a true place and be equally welcomed, all of which is supported by his profound and deeply personal faith. Ymir's comments about us all being children of the Greater Will is what fully sealed the deal for me. Goldmask is basically a human Two-Fingers who figured out the wifi password.
The ironic thing about using the Goldmask ending is because it's actually a rejection of God. Goldmasks conclusion was that the Golden Order is imperfect because it is ruled by gods, and his rune essentially makes the Elden Ring invulnerable to the influence of non-humans. Its a pro-Golden Order ending, but an anti-gods one
Not really. Marika, though a Goddess, was just a Numen at the start, so she was as dumb as any other person. The power to alter the universe is just moved away from the people, which would be oppressive if it were anyone else aside from the Golden Order because the Golden Order, through the Laws of Regression and Causality, unite every being AND Deity in Harmony. Take the Astrologers/Liurnians and their stars for example.
@@schuylerdstaats3249 Well, for all you know, he isn't. He does crawl around on all fours (as seen in the intro cutscene), and doesn't make a single sound. Who knows what sort of kinks he has.
I believe because allot of them have lost their minds. Many are immortal (constantly reborn), but lost their minds. Just doing simple things, not all ofcourse.
Why take a bath, when health is no problem. Why eat, when sustainance is redundant. They are immortal. The only required food, is determination to continue.
Gold order's ending is probably the most pure & righteous ending...for better or worse. Essentially the golden order worships not Marika, but rather her patron...the god of order. This is evident with two finger messengers representing the golden order and three fingers representing the chaos god because together they're meant to be nature itself. The issue is vessels have free will and so can abuse said order for personal vendettas. In other words the god of order wanted more control; which is evident in the selective breeding for emperyeans and marikas confinement to the tree. Gold mask desires to perfect the ring in removing the human element so order can reign pure and true. No more whims of mad kings and Queens just pure righteous authority.
I wouldn’t say the God of Order wants more control, rather it needs to correct the instability in the world because of its nature. The Fingers probably are just diplomatic and aren’t even necessary for the Grace of Gold to exist. They’re just there to create government for beings who can’t directly interact with Grace but regardless, the Fingers have been broken for a long while now since the GW left and can’t even do their job.
@@nurikkulanbaev3628 very true, like all endings, it's not good or bad but rather raw authoritarian. Kinda like how Ranni is a raw liberating freedom for better or worse. I mostly wrote that because a lot people don't actually understand what that ending is.
@@thecheshire2334 🤦 It gives authority to a god thats absent for a long ass time. Basically Same as Ranni, but has better consequences for average folk
@@nurikkulanbaev3628 oh truly brilliant with your thousand iq! Clearly god just likes goin on vacation! Maybe he went to a nice beach! Ah yes vacations for everyone! How did we not see?!
I love how he’s basically an ideological opposite of Midra and yet they both have very similar aesthetics with the golden halo mask/frenzy flame sun, adorned in minimal yellow/gold garments, and I think they both have the same old man model for bodies.
1. When you say "exponent" you mean proponent. Maybe you were blending in "expositor"? 2. The failure of the current order is what's "born of the fickleness of the gods no better than men", not his mending rune.
Every time I hear some recite Elden Ring lore I’m like “oh cool!” But by brain only retains like 20 percent of what was said. I think this was Miyazaki’s intention tbh.
It's crazy to me that he's a tarnished, while being the really slow and lanky humanoid that can be found everywhere as the wandering nobles. So is tarnished an origin? Is it a species? What actually is a tarnished?
Tarnished are former soldier of the golden order, banished by Marika, after taking aeay their grace. To return to the lands between after reiciving it again. Marika her plan c to stop the greater will and kill the elden beast.
Goldmask was a fundamentalist, part of the GO that believed in the perfection of the GO under the Greater Will. However the increasingly obvious problems within the GO culminating in the shattering created a crises of faith within the fundamentalists. Some, like D, became fanatical and sought to erase anything that exposed the GOs imperfection (such as those who live in death). Others, like Miquella, became disallusioned with the GO and chose to abandon it. Goldmask however arrived at a simple truth. If the GO is perfect, and the current GO is flawed, then the current GO is not the true GO and needs to be corrected. And discovering the link between Radagon and Marika was an epiphany moment for him, leading him to discover the GOs main issues can all be traced back to Marika and her family. So the "ring" (rune) he cultivates is a protective ring that prevents tampering of the elden ring from even gods such as when marika removed the rune of death and gave great runes to her family members. A man who never gave up on the GO, T-posed against the gods themselves, and was proven right in the end, as his perfect order ending is described as a new golden age.
Goldmask always had the 2nd best ending, imo after Ranni. If I had to pick a Mending Rune, I'd prefer Goldmask's ending. That being said, I still think that there should've been a "true ending" where you combine all three of the Mending Runes. There are things about each ending that I think are important. Goldmask makes it impossible to tamper with the Elden Ring further. Fia's Rune reintroduces death to the world, and Dung Eater's... well... his is complicated, but from what I was able to gather, it turns everyone into an Omen, which effectively makes it impossible for the Greater Will to eat their souls upon death.
To everyone: The rune of perfect order is THE WORST ENDING POSSIBLE. If the elden ring is mended with it - everyone will be made to be as stoic and immobile as goldmask. Nothing will ever happen ever again, and nothing will ever change - everything will be in perfect order This mending rune gives the worst ending possible in the game
I love how Goldmask is essentially like “man, fuck the outer gods, Marika, and the demigods” I got his ending on my first playthrough because it just felt right. Everything that happened in the lands between was because of Marika and her offspring.
He looks important, perhaps part of the quest? But the way he looked, I can't stop myself from 1 hit him LMAO, I'm sure I miss out some badass rewards/quest.
Golden mask is like a Sage. A bit like Midra. And his face too look a bit like a frenzied flame. I can’t stop thinking about people who wears a sun means something but what ? I can’t be sure … 😢 but look like they know something more about the golden order.
EVERY single argument against goldmask is from ranni fans, definitive best ending instead of “my child will go on a meandering quest for ME as I seduce him in marriage to destroy the very gods and wander the stars for eternity forevaaaaaa haha!”
So goldmask basically fixes everything wrong with the golden order right? And now the erdtree's grace reaches everything in the lands between so basically goldmask made everything better for everyone because in that ending everything looks golden and perfect
Honestly the Lore of this game is so well thought out and so well executed in game it’s baffling. But I appreciate the video , I’ve been trying to find stuff in this guy and a few others but google has been no help .
Well executed? I completely disagree. So much of the stuff I've learned lore-wise has been from Vaati, Zullie, and this channel. The game doesn't organically explain any of this. Just the usual cryptic minimal details. Don't get me wrong I like Elden Ring I think it is a phenomenal game, but I think when it comes to storytelling and lore-building, the in-game experience isn’t the best.
@suchmouse the same people made many other games just like it.... you knew/should have known what you are getting into.. just pay attention. Didnt realize you needed spoon fed.
@@suchmousewhile I do agree that the RU-vid videos these guys make definitely help contextualize the story, you can learn all of this by playing the game and looking at item descriptions and just going places. It’s a really well made story and every new piece I learn either from the game or from a video like this really helps add so much to the story. I would also say it shows how great Fromsoft storytelling is without holding your hand, yk?
@@suchmouse I did agree with you. However, you gotta make a habit in reading the descriptions to all items/weapons/armor, etc, in addition to hearing what all NPCs say. Then you have to explore the world to answer these questions: Why is everyone miserable? What shit went down before everything turned to crap? It finally took me to Dark Souls 3 to figure that out. I always wondered how people knew so much about the lore. They just read. Miyazaki doesn't put in books in his games (like Bethesda for Elder Scrolls). You have to be proactive to get the lore organically.
@@suchmouseThis is what is known as a “skill issue”. All the lore videos are essentially reading the in game item descriptions and often times coming to their own conclusions that they feel best surmise it. FromSoft has famously been very discreet about the lore to allow the players to experience it for themselves and to encourage those that seek more knowledge to find it themselves, which in turn makes one more excited and interested in their game.
Im so confused where people say goldmask actually cares about those who live within death, my understanding is perfecting the golden order doesnt mean he allowed those who live in death (if he did why do we even have fias questline) perfecting the golden order still implies theres portions that remain from the previous comcept, and i believe that means the undead and godwyns corpse are probably still considered outside of the faith
Ok so is that why he looks like that? He’s been persisting in the lands between for so long without absorbing runes that he became like everyone else in the lands between with there accursed immortality? Or did he sneak back in in a way he wasn’t supposed to have.
man you used so many weird words i didn't understand what you were communicating wtf is exponent of holyism? huh did you just read that from in-game descriptions and narratives what was he trying to do?
proponent: someone that advocates for something. Exponent: an archaic term for someone that interpretes or explains something. David attenbourgh is commonly a exponent interpreting nature documentries.
Goldmask and Midra, ascetic brothas from anotha freaky cosmic motha. They both have that beach drip, sleeper build and sunflower face, except one is a happy sun making lots of sparkly radiation and one is a dying black hole of despair.
38:48 Sarah gets caught in a lie, and right here you can see a flash of panic on her face before she makes up a very flimsy excuse, then rug sweeps the whole thing by going "whatever" in a tone that sounds like she's annoyed at the cop for having the audacity to question her version of events. She clearly gets angry when she isn't automatically believed, even though she isn't acting trustworthy at all.
