I think the biggest reason why the Magalas are so memorable for everyone was because unlike other flagships who's interference with the ecosystem is implied in throwaway lines, you could feel the Magalas' presence in almost every part of 4. The Frenzy virus infecting other monsters, Apex creatures, them being literally everywhere in 4's main story, the fact that Gore's Frenzy state completely alters the atmosphere and even Seregios becoming an invasive species in 4U is a direct consequence of the Frenzy virus. The other flagships felt scary but Gore was the first time in the main series where they felt like walking natural disasters. Some of the best monsters in the entire series imo.
Add to that it's kinda our rival throughout our journey to High Rank, we fight it multiple times and it grows in power along side us, leading into the climactic battle at the Sanctuary. It doesn't overstay it's welcome, and it's not absent enough to be "a random thing happening in the background". It's really fun stuff.
I especially love that they built up a rivalry between you and Gore all throughout 4's Story. Since its canon that the Gore you face off with in all the story encounters is the same individual. And all coming to ahead with the fight against Shagaru where the Intro cutscene showing an intense Stare down between you and Shagaru. The Way Shagaru walks around while doing an intense glare at you, giving off the air that he remembers you as the one that always got in his way and nearly killed it earlier in the game. It Makes it feel like more then just a battle of Hunter vs Monster, more then just battle over Fate of the World, but a battle against Bitter Rivals.
Fun fact. Gore Magala hatches out of the corpses of infected monsters. There can also only be a single shagaru magala at a time. When Gore molts into Shagaru Magala, it sends out a signal that prevents all other gore magalas from molting. If a gore magala was molting at the time of this, it will be forced to stop partway and that results in chaotic gore magala.
Pretty sure there can be more than one, the "signal" is trasmitted through the virus, so if a gore is molting somewhere where others never went, it should be safe. But Gore are great travelers for sure, so, they must have spread it a lot
@@blazouille2453 no, shagarus fuck off after they finish reproducing and then more don't show up for a very long time in order to prevent monsters from building up a resistance, because they can't reproduce if everything is resistant to the virus
@@Xenonfuji Erm, there must be something i missed in what you just said, because i don't see where it conflict with my statement, apart if all shagaru in existence were born in the same place ( possible ) and always comeback there to molt
so i know he was memeing but for people who are interested. The actual explanation for chaotic gore magala is that the molting process to become shageru is NOT part of their normal maturation and is instead a generational selection process. Once a single gore magala achieves the transformation he will release a wave of energy that instantly halts the evolution of all other gores until he dies. Because there can only be a single one alive at any given time. Because its on a global scale this means some gore magalas would have been in the middle of turning. So chaotic gore was created when the flagship of the game reached the elder form. It halted his molting and he became stuck in an agonizing mutant state. In lore they are more aggressive because they are in constant pain and are dying slowly.

I loved that it progressed with you thought-out 4. The final confrontation where the hunter and the shagaru stare down each other has always been my favourite cutscene in the series. That on top of how awesome it looks and the whole bloodborne esque frenzy mechanic makes it my favourite monster for sure
I haven't played MH4 but i always love Gore's design. It's like Batman ffs, dark, brooding, mysterious, angry all the time, and covered in black from head-to-toe
The rise Apex monsters are the result of Ibushi energy or something, but since Ibushi is dead now it makes sense that Gore Magala is back so that apex monsters can still be in sunbreak
And being that Kamura isn't as deeply involved with the guild, it could have been frenzy virus coming from Ibushi, and the guild just didn't have time to identify it as such, or maybe wouldn't.
@@Ahzathoth Its explained that Apex monsters in Kamura are those that survived a confrontation against Narwa and/or Ibushi. This means apex's in general are monsters that survived what should have been a fatal encounter. Apex's are rare to begin with so its hard to determine how they even become the way they are besides those that survive the frenzy virus.
@@freshlymemed5680 well, seeing as apex are just deviants but tempered (and to a certain degree nerfed). It's pretty amazing how a Bloodbath diablos (who only lives in the desert) found and fought an Ibushi/Narwa
Apparently Apexes won't be in Sunbreak, this was mentioned in a Korean interview with Ryozo and Suzuki(SBs director). Instead they said another tough version of monster will be there but they didn't specify what that could be.
@@freshlymemed5680 Yea I get that. Just more an ecological theory craft as it would make sense for Gore and Ibushi to possibly carry the same virus. I mean in virology that is oft how it works in ecological systems.
Still the best monster in the whole series for me. Great designs, great mechanics (frenzy), great fight, great tie-in to the story, great armours/weapons and not only the dang thing can evolve, it also has a special mixed form that grants a unique ability to its weapons. What a fantastic monster. Also, the evolved form is called “Shagaru” not “Shageru”. I thought you were making fun of Shigeru Miyamoto at first. LOL Speaking of Gog, I also love that monster a lot and it’s such a fun fight, shame you’ve never fought it. As for the camera control, the touch screen camera is a godsend compared to the “claw” back in the PSP days…
Maybe its because my first actual MH game was 4U (played a bit of 3U but didn't get invested) that I find Nergigante and Magnamalo so... lackluster? Deadass, the whole game the same goth kid is chasing you, trying to murder you, with you barely surviving and all of your friends nearly dying at least once. Its gimmick is much more unique than the other flagships, and when I think of an Elder Dragon, I think of something like Gore: a being so powerful and mysterious that its mere presence sends the entire landscape into a frenzy. The dope ass weapon designs ain't hurt either.
@@deadseven3474 I really like Nergi, but I do agree, they're both such a step down from Gore. It has that perfect mix of 'realistic-ish ecology fluff' and 'whoah cool glowy mega dragon' vibe too.
Gogmazios is probably my favorite monster from the series, so, unfortunate to hear you've not really fought it. I do recognize that I have tiny baby hands that make handling something like the 3DS less of a pain than most, though, so, fair enough.
by the way, Gore Magala has been added to the elder dragon list already like last year or this year im not sure exactly when it wasz but he is now also an elder.
He was always classified as an Elder Dragon in the official databooks and other side materials since he's technically just the larval stage of Shagaru, but in-game wise his status remains unknown at this point
This monster was what prompted me to get rise. MH4U was my first MH game. The magalas were always my favorite monster. The gore and shigeru magalas are so damn cute. Not to mention poisons and virus are my favorite type of effects in any game.
saw the title and instantly thought "there are people who play monster hunter and don't know who gore is?" then I realized, yes there are indeed people who never played 4, 4u or gen
another thing that I remember clearly about 4U besides GQ 2 lv 140 Apex Rajang is..... when you need some G-rank Gore Magala parts but its only exist on certain level of Gore's guild quest (IIRC around 120-135) before the quest turned into G-rank Chaotic Gore oh your quest has already turned into chaotic but you still don't get the parts ? delete the quest and find the quest again, then you leveling up the quest again and hope you'll get what you need before it turns into chaotic
in my case my hype is def tagetted at lucent nargacuga. Narga is my fav monster and I've always wanted Lucent to return in a game with the gameplay polish that World brought.
Maybe there is some slight nostalgia with MH4U being my first Monster Hunter. Though Gore Magala isn't my favourite, I absolutely loved him. From his design, his powers, the frenzy virus was a fascinating idea and made for interesting gameplay and lore. And I loved that final showdown against Shagaru Magala.
Fun fact: Bats are not blind creatures, in fact some of them like the Large Flying Fox have great eyesight (they need it to detect fruit and predators) but most of the Nocturnal type of bats dont really rely on their eyesight because the light at night is scarce and the fact that most if not all of the nocturnal bats have ecolocation that enables them to detect prey and predators at night or in hard-to-see environments. Atte. Not an expert, just an animal fan.
@@celphalonred1999 Uh, OP is right. *Not a single bat species is blind.* All of them use visions in some ways, while echolocation aids them. Many of them have eyes that can see well in dim light despite their echolocation ability--the Egyptian fruit bat is one. There are bats that can even see UV light; these are flower bats, as flowers reflect UV light to them. There's an experiment concerning brown bats which show that in an illuminated room, they seem to rely more on vision than sonar... and so crash more often (they confuse transparent cloth blcoking their flying course with "no cloth at all", for example, and so ran into it. Had they used sonar, they would have detected the cloth regardless of its transparency). RU-vid is a crapshoot at separating good links from spam links, so I'm not gonna drop mine here and get deleted hahaha. My sources are from Britannica and LiveScience, but a basic Google search on "are bats blind" will probably show you those two pages right off the... bat. Pun intended? Maaaaybe!
Basically he's an edgy teenager but he looks like he lives at the gym. Like he deadlifts with his wings I swear. Also the feelers up isn't a rage state, it's how he gets when he can tell where you are which implies that it's his real personality.
Monster hunter 4 ultimate was the first I ever beat and have since gone on to play some of the older games in large part because of both gore and shagaru magala I'm praying that Sha makes and appearance in sunbreak
For the cover of games, look the japanese versions. MH3U has Brachydios but those localisation teams sometimes just like to ruin the original idea by putting something else instead for western version...
Hopefully we see Shagaru added as well. Fighting him in Gen Ultimate for the first time was a real treat and the first fight that really felt like an impactful boss fight.
MH4 is such a fucking amazing game. Not was, is. To this day, I still can't believe it was all on a FUCKING 3DS. I put more hours into it than most console games that year
I am ripping and tearing my way through Rises story so I can be ready for this thing. I'm about half way through I think. got done with the rampage involving Ibushi and I'm on rank seven hub quests.
I think Chaotic Gore is technically more powerful than Shagaru Magala, but it is in a similar stare to Savage Deviljho. It is permanently in perpetual agony and running at max heat until it finally dies, by combat or its body just destroying itself.
@@zamtriostamer923 yes. The joke (although it's more sad than funny) was that Seregios had no significance whatsoever, so you'd rather still consider Gore the flagship of 4U rather than Seregios
2:15 "a blind creature spreading a disease..." hey, hey, hey Bats are not blind and, contrary to the idiom with which has been used to slander the majestic creature, actually have excellent vision.
Magala is my favorite flagship monster and I'm super happy that it and Astalos is returning too. The end of the month is fast approaching and I need to finish up stuff in Rise before Sunbreak drops. I'd really like to see Zamtrios return, but I don't think it is very likely at this point. Perhaps next game.
Apex monsters are monsters who beat the virus, also chaotic gore isnt the strongest, still shagaru, it only hits so hard because its in pain and is literally dying from its virus because its not producing the right one
I have a bunch of friends who only played World or Rise, so I carried them through sunbreak just to show them my favourite Gothic Burrito. So far, everyone loved him to death. Rightfully so, he's such a cool monster. Really hope for Chaos Gore in one of the title updates, as he's my number 1.
I remember getting so confused about the weapon names being in German. I speak German so i thought i somehow changed the game to German. But no i quickly figured out this set is uniquely always in German.
Flagship is the one on the cover. Azure rath is considered the American flagship of mh3u alongside brachy who gets the consideration because it was the cover of the original Japanese one
Espinas is the main flagship of Monster hunter Frontier. It's a flying wyvern that can fireblight you, give you paralysis, and poisons you with its attacks. It's unique to other monsters in that it doesn't wake up until you hit it enough, and when it does, It gets more angrier than a truck driver on the highway going through traffic and it starts going crazy, charging at you faster than apex Diablos does when it gets enraged. Also, fun fact Astronaut: It's name means "thorns" in Spanish. Some of the people working on Frontier are working on Rise, which means he is coming in Sunbreak. They had to pull some strings to make this happen.
I wonder if it's possible to deal enough damage with the wake up attacks to get it's health to the point it faints or can be captured, it would be pretty funny and anticlimactic
Don't worry about Dwayne he comes back in the fight against shaggy. He's saved my life many times. (The the shaggy fight there's a giant rock in the middle of the map that is the ONLY hiding spot)
In terms of in game numbers and stats, chaotic, gore is the strongest, because he’s almost always fought after regular gore and adult gore show up and is almost always programmed to be more aggressive than either one of them while, lore wise adult gore is technically stronger, but chaotic, gore is significantly more aggressive, and is usually more dangerous as a result, kind of like how weasels, despite technically being smaller and weaker than some of the pray they fight are able to take them down anyway because there’s vastly more aggressive than most predators their size
Gogmazios would make a fun final rampage style fight because that's 100% Gogmazios lore. It's attracted to gunpowder and stuff like that. What place had to stockpile that stuff to fight off waves of Apex monsters? Komura village. What games have both Apex monsters and Gormagala? Sunbreak and 4. It just makes sense Make it a fight in an arena but with hunting installation. No extra monsters, just it and your team and a bunch of guns
Personally, why I am so hyped about Gore Magala's reveal because it's a pre-release reveal. A monster so impactful in 4U being revealed so early only means they have something even bigger than that planned.
Also copium, but can Shogun Ceanataur's release also mean Shen Gaoren soon? I mean, it'd stink if there's only going to be one Carapaceon in his own tab in the monster logs
Help my pc keeps crashing when I try to run the sunbreak demo rise works fine it's just the demo for reason I run a pc with an nvidia graphics card and and CPU
