Odin/Wotan is the mysterious wisdom bringer and god of the Norse and Germanic people. But in this video I explain why I think he is so much more.
Join me as I traverse legends, mythology, local histories, and ancient sites, from Europe, to Turkey, Egypt, to Easter Island, and right through Central and South America, tracing the footsteps of this enigmatic figure known as “the wanderer.”

@@nsikandominicrobinson1092 call him what you want. I'n every religious book you see the higher deity or the only god talking to people, sending messengers and prophets, sometimes he intervened himself disguised or sent a son to protect mortals. The words deity, divinity and so on come from the name Dyaus, the indoeuropean Sky God that received the name Tiwaz in Germanic (from him we get Tuesday), and Odin/Wodan/Wotanaz originally might have been his messenger or a prophet before becoming a god himself in later traditions. Jesus himself wasn't always considered like God in early Christianity, it took a few centuries for that to be established.

After searching all my life for answers to my questions, I finally got answers with this video. Only recently have I begun to study Norse mythology. I always found it impressive how on the whole world again and again similarities of the same "world view" could be found. After this video I finally got the answers I needed to take the "next step". I had a likewise "aha-moment", as I am slowly turning around and finding both religious as mythical narratives very interesting. And useful! The Odin figure in Norse mythology and the way it's counterparts/equals/whoknows found across time and place are somehow enthralling. The story about Jesus and the spear, and Odin's sacrifice of his eye and life for the price of wisdom - I know both of them, but I had never made the correlation.

@@dugclrk if they had survived the cataclysm, why do you think the other people who survibed were "primitive"? How old exactly do you think they were? Goes to show nothing has been learned.

I would really appreciate if you could point me towards any more information you know about the legend you speak of. After I read your comment, I did a bit of searching on the internet to try and find the legend you are referring to. I couldn't find it (perhaps it's in Chinese?), but I did find some other interesting information that correlates with it. There are many similarities between the Danish and Chinese languages. "Wu-di" was used as a title for Chinese emperors, meaning "warrior king" - similarities between this title and the name Odin have been noted.

Interesting. As far as I know, no one has yet to make the connections that you've made of Odin/Wotan. I've always felt that there was something incredibly ancient and primal about this deity. The Kingdom of the Norse which includes "Norway" "Sweden" and "Denmark" are very much related to the Ancient Vedic culture of India as seen in their cosmology and as seen in their pantheon of gods of which the Supreme was "Odin" whose name seems to have its source in the Ancient Sanskrit language. ~ The Norse home of the gods is Asgard which seems to be Sanskrit and the King of Asgard is "Odin" a name which is from "Woden" the Old Saxon god of the wind. "Woden" is the Indo/euro root "Wa" meaning to "blow" its source being the Sanskrit "Va" meaning to "blow" as seen in the Vedic god of the wind "Vata" and "Vayu". ~ "Woden" was originally known as the German storm god "Wode" a simple evolution as the Sanskrit "V" becomes "W" and the Sanskrit "T" becomes "D" hence the Vedic god of the wind "Vata" becomes the German god of the wind "Wode" which then becomes the Old Saxon "Woden" immortalised as "Wednesday" the day of Woden and a name which seems to become "Odin" the god of the Norse and the King of Asgard. ~ "Frigg" is the wife of "Odin" the Queen of heaven and the goddess of love, her name meaning "beloved" "loving" "wife" its source being the Sanskrit "Priya" meaning "beloved" "loving" "wife" and just as "Woden" is immortalised as "Wednesday" the goddess "Frigg" becomes "Friday". ~ "P" becoming a European "F" is a common theme which is seen in the Sanskrit "Panca" becoming "five" the Sanskrit "Pluta" becoming "float" the Sanskrit "Pitr" becoming "father" and here we find the Sanskrit "Priya" becomes the Norse goddess "Frigg". ~ And so we have "Asgard" which is Sanskrit and we have "Odin" which is related to Sanskrit and we have his wife "Frigg" which is definitely Sanskrit, all of which reflects the Sanskrit and Vedic influence upon the Ancient civilisation of the Norse. ~ "The primitive West Europeans had called the god “Wodenaz” this later developed into Wuotan (Old High German) and Wodan (Old Saxon). It is generally believed that he was first thought of as a sky deity, perhaps a wind or storm god with great wisdom and with some sort of powers over life and death." Buckland's Book of Saxon Witchcraft - Raymond Buckland. ~ "This may be evidenced by the derivation of Wodenaz from an Indo-European word, parent also of the Sanskrit vata and the Latin ventus, both meaning 'wind'. He could be compared to the Hindu Lord of the Wind, Vata, and the German storm giant Wode." - Buckland's Book of Saxon Witchcraft - Raymond Buckland. 🍀 💜✌️

Like the story were oðinn hangs from the tree of lifez(yggdrasil) in nine days with no food and drink and at last hes giving the runes( wisdom). It symbolise the pregnancy, nine months in the mothers belly with no food or drink and finally born/reborn with the knowledge of the forbears and the placentra is the tree of life.. every god is a representation of ourself.

@valleyscharping The cutting of Thor's oak you are referring to sounds like when king Charlemagne ordered the felling of the sacred Irminsul tree of the Saxons, and then the beheading of 400 Saxon leaders who refused to convert to Christianity. That's an awful event to glorify, particularly among viewers of this video whose religion was being destroyed, and I don't see how Jesus had anything to do with it. It’s such a weird feeling, when I come across films or videos about specific deities, I get filled with emotion, and a sense of familiarity and connectedness for some reason… it used to confuse me, I tried to deny it in the past when I had very dogmatic ways of thinking, now I embrace it and see it as a feeling I should trust. I felt that with this video, it has been a long time since I thought much about Odin but I always felt connected to him. I also think I felt the way I do because your video resonates so much, it feels true. I’ve felt this exact same way about Aphrodite, but I think the subject of her going by many names through many cultures is much more covered than Odin being the same. It frustrates me how some people see him as a dark god, and they trust the meaning of what sacrifice truly means… so I really appreciate your video that highlights his spreading of knowledge and wisdom throughout different lands. 🤍🤍👽✨ Thank you for the video! I’ve reached many of the same conclusions myself during my comparative mythology investigations. The oldest known hakenkreuz (Svastika), an Original Solar representation, was found in Mezine, Ukraine; dated to around 10,000 BCE. It’s an amazing find and adds to the other evidence that our Solar religion is far older than most “academics” give credit. I agree fully that Votan, Quetzalcóatl, Kukulcán, Viracocha, Wotan, Óðinn. WoðanaZ, are the same being.

Interesting insights here Sakro, Odin has been jumbled up so many times, it is very hard to recognise him in our modern times. I personally believe he may have been part of a group of sages that developed the common denomination of wisdom. When an idea comes to the fore, it travels, others who are perceptive, tune in and follow. Blessings to you.

There is something to this, the more I study, the more I see similarities. As a historian by trade I can't say this is certain in my class, but in my personal beliefs, I know this true and is the only thing that makes sense. It fills in the gaps that modern history can't rectify yet because it doesn't have enough evidence yet.

Incredibly interesting subject matter and amazing to finally see the 'dots joined' so to speak. I remember reading very similar sounding accounts of individuals active in ancient Egypt who seemed to have supernatural abilities and great knowledge which they utilised to help others. It is fascinating to see so many prolific accounts and commonalities in the ancient past that thread a tapestry of wisdom and seemingly otherworldly understanding. A very well researched and presented video and I look forward to seeing more.

This was such a revealing video, it makes so much sense and explains for the many similarities between the different cultures that was separated by oceans and lands yet which had similar yramids, ancient sacred sites, stories, legends of these / this wisdom bringers. I was really taken aback by the hindu ancient story of the 7 wisdom bringers / vedas and the egyptian reliefs - both show 7 people on the boat telling a story of wisdom travelers. Things really start to add up about the various pyramids, and the cataclysm that happened about 10,000-12,000 years ago. How all of sudden, agriculture started to come about, how cities started to be built, how people started or I should say rebuilt civilization. It's just incredible that nowadays we are able to start piecing back the history of human kind. Incredible really. And the similarities between Odin / Wotan / Kukulcan / Osiris and Jesus is pretty astounding. What are the chances that they are coincidences? At some point, similarities that keep adding up can't be coincidence any longer - and this is wonderful to start seeing a puzzle reveal its picture. What an amazing video really - so much to take it. I'll have to watch it a few times. And these were the fastest 12 min ever! It was such good info, that I couldn't believe it had ended already!

The picture you paint of Odin is how he appears in the latest sources. Where he had been turned into an amalgamation of different cultural aspects. Some from other germanic gods, heroes, and archetypes, and a significant abrahamic portion. By the time people wrote the havamal, this Odin had become such an amalgamation of foreign influence that i genuinly doubt whether we can still refer to that enitiy with the name "Odin". Odin is at the core very frightning god like many of his names sugest. He is called the "inciter", the "evildoer", and the "terrible one" Which fits with the etymological origin of his actual name, which comes from "Wuod", which means something like "Ecstatic rage". The Berserkers, the men who are dedicated to this god specifically, were hated people. They were warriors who killed indiscriminantly, and for pleasure. This lust for blood and battle was incited in them by Odin. A more subjective confirmation is the recent resurgence of men reconnecting with the primal roots of this frightening god; The result is exactly what his names sugests: Ecstatic rage, which, when not controled properly, is dangerous. This ecstatic rage is incited in men through repetitive rithms, movement, and sugestion, and a focus on this god. from what i have experienced, it is allready overwhelmingly powerful, and drugs has not even been implemented yet; specifically because that would be too dangerous. Odin is a god that manipulates every situation for the worst. He incites wars, conflict, and division, to reap the benefits of that. Most of what we know of this god comes from a time where he has allready become an amalgamation. Where other non-Odinic elements have been apllied to the name Odin, or "the high one". Some from other germanic gods, heroes, and archetypes, and a lot from abrahamic influence, which could explain the connection to egyptian aspects. Odin gathers wisdom and knowledge, but for his own gain. The germanic world also has stories of a man arriving here and teaching people and creating civilization, but that is not Odinic. Heimdal, or Rig plays a part in that, and other stories mention a child washing up in a boat who grew up and taught civilization to the germanic people; which is even more interesting, because there is an indian tribe that has a story about a boy from a pale, blue-eyed people from the east across the sea, that they captured. That boy pale, blue-eyed boy from across the sea started to teach them how to build boats and hunt, etc, before he built a boat for himself and escaped. long story short: the motifs of a wise god that gently teaches civilization to peopels across the world is not Odinic in origin; it has been atributed to Odin in a very late state, possibly by abrahamic culture, which would explain the connections to gods of Egypt, and the middle east. Would like to hear people thoughts on this.

yeah odin was a trickster god. always scheming for power. Der ring des Nibelungen has him being ultimately responsible for ragnarok or götterdammerung, for vowing on the runes and failing to uphold. Loki is his sworn brother, who betrays him to have baldur slain. Wotan locks Loki up dripping snake venom into his eyes for eternity, until he can escape, and set his wolf son Fenrir on Wotan to eat him and everything else. this is Wagners adaptation of the old myths. the Wotan of the distant past much wilder and wilier like you say, I think. he was the stranger who would cause the slaughter of a whole village if one of them turned him from their door. he was always after the souls of brave warriors, to grow his army in val halla, to fight Loki at the end. therefore he pitted men against one another to weed out the weak and hasten the departure of the valiant ones. interesting comment you left, just my interpretation of what you said based on a bit of what I know. as for abrahamic and other religions altering the character-god, that's just the way it goes. there's probably always been a bit of that going on, taken from even older mythology that has been lost...

@Sakro Sawel thanks for your comments below. You gave some good references and explanations around the topics this video is covering when there is so much confusion. It makes sense to be like that since there is so little evidence but I think there is a -pattern that repeats till nowadays (like light -persecutions -distortion - mainstream religion) which people can find behind spiritual figures' teachings and lives. And is not just about uncovering history like that but taking an active role inside this pattern nowadays. Looking forward to the next videos!

O∂inn means the raging/roaring breath. He is therefore the Vedic god Rudra, later becoming Shiva. Rudra means 'roar'. When brahman manifests, it does so with a roaring, deafening first breath (read: Big Bang). So one can say that O∂inn/Rudra/Shiva is the first manifestation, the first breath, and also all knowledge accumulated. The first yogi - showing us the union between physical and metaphysical.

Having 64 generations of documented Norse bloodline going all the way back to my eldest known relative Njord of the Vanier. As you may already know that after the war between the Asier and the Vanier, Njord and his family along with others families from both clans were traded to each side to help bring peace between two rival clans. Njord later married Skadi the giantess who’s father was slain by Odin. According to records, Njord died around 20BC thus giving a bit more specific timeframe to when Odin was alive. I’ve been researching the origins and migration of the Norse people and their Mythology for quite a long time and find you come close in some respects but are not quite there. Not only have I figured out the origins of Norse Mythology but I believe I have figured out where the fabled Asgard and Vanaheim were/are located as well as who Odin was. Odin was of Middle Eastern/Asian decent known as a world traveler but had fled his homeland due to Roman aggression and ended up settling with his followers in Sweden. Odin’s first son Yngvi was made first king of Sweden thus beginning the Yngling Dynasty, the oldest known Scandinavian Dynasty to which I am a direct descendant of. My research still continues and I leave you with a clue as to who I believe Odin really was. The clue I offer took me all the way back to the Old Testament where he is mentioned by another name and is only mentioned in a few verses and then is never mentioned in the book again. My research of Odin has lead to the discovery of his ancestry which goes all the way back to the Phoenicians ( a sea fairing people) and the ancient times of Babylonia. I have so many findings to reveal such as the origins of the Elder Futhark Runic alphabet, Icelandic Vegvisirs and the true meaning of Midgard ( the realm of humans ) but I am considering writing a book based on everything I have discovered, but out of respect I am struggling with divulging the origins of the Norse people and their Mythology for they are the origins of many great stories and legends. And to think that my research started because a very good friend of mine who is of a religion that doesn’t celebrate our holidays due to their Pagan origins and thought that if I could find the point of convergence/divergence of Paganism and Christianity that they would be able to celebrate the holidays once again.
