Madrid has 2 problems: first, CB depth, and second, losing Kroos. Rudiger is the best CB in the world, but after him are huge question marks. Militao has not been playing well after injury, Alaba is out injured until mid season. Nacho is gone. And they refuse to buy a new player. So an academy player will have to step up and Tchouameni will have to play CB. Losing Kroos also hurts a lot. Hes the only great passer they had in midfield unless Guler is moved centrally.

Who’s stopping this team?? Themselves… their own egos will inhibit their success. Having players like Modric, Kroos, with healthy egos who let their football do the talking. That’s a blessing, and I think Kroos’s absence will be felt and I predict a turbulent season for Madrid. Moments of magic, signs of them being great, but other games where egos clash you’ll see unexpected results and them not performing as well as the ‘on paper’ metric would suggest they will.

This situation is much different because Madrid just won the league and the champions league and now added arguably the best player in the sport. This is similar to when Golden State won a championship then singed Durant and became invincible with him . "Super teams" have always been successful if the team was already successful before adding more superstar players just like golden State. PSG was just buying superstar players because the mission for them was to become a big brand around the world more than actually competing with the big clubs in Europe. I've Read a bunch of articles that broke down PSG plan to become a global brand and that's why they didn't care to buy Neymar at whatever price and it worked. They have PSG stores on 5th avenue in New York City which is something you don't see any other team doing.
