The That Man joke is the funniest thing death battle ever heard.

In preparation for the next battle. Chuck Norris once threw a grenade with killed a dozen men. Then the grenade exploded.

The "Nobody Knows" is a pretty funny bit for Blazblue. It is not like no one knows, we do know, there are a LOT of games in the series and there is answers for pretty much every question, the problem is just that its really convoluted and complicated and would make this video probably about 5 minutes longer for everytime they would have to explain it.

A little tidbit on Sol's naming conventions. It all revolves around Freddy Mercury, the lead singer from Queen. Not only does Frederick tie to Freddy like you'd expect, but "Mr. Badguy" was one one Freddy Mercury's nicknames. Daisuke Ishiwatari, The man responsible for the concept and most of the production of the Guilty Gear series, most notably the story, music, and voicing Sol himself, is a *HUGE* fan of western music and that influence is something he proudly displays throughout the game.

Blazblue's story is complicated but somehow it's not AS complicated as they make it seem. There's a lot of key details they skip.

We need to know his favorite band because everything in Guilty Gear is based on rock music.

Blazblue currency is Platinum Dollars. Also the story does make sense but only after you've basically got the equivalent of a degree in advanced temporal mechanics and then play through all the games a few times.

A common trope in anime style media is Too Many Belts. Why? Cause if one belt looks cool then obviously adding more belts makes the character cooler. There are literally characters that only wear belts as their clothing.

To explain all of the 'no one knows' (based on what I can understand of it, at least): 1. Ragna, Jin, and Saya were born from a Boundary Interface Unit. Basically an artificial cyborg girl created to explore the Boundary, a realm of infinite knowledge where God lives. 2. Saya just had a frail body. 3. Terumi set the whole thing up. He gave Saya the sword Yukianesa to give to Jin. It manipulates his memories to send him into a murderous frenzy every time Ragna is close by. There's also a bit of Jin knowing that Ragna is doomed to become the Black Beast and wanting to mercy kill him before he gets to that point mixed in there. 4. Jubei was hunting Terumi. The guy is responsible for about half of the bad stuff that happened in the Blazblue world, including the murder of Jubei's wife and brother. 5. Platinum Dollars. 6. Blazblue time travel operates on a spiral principle. The first timeline is completely different from all of the others, and going back in time just creates a brand new timeline rather than changing the one that already exists.

The newest (upcoming) Guilty Gear, by the name of Guilty Gear Strive, currently has an open beta going on PS4 and PS5. If you want to jump in and try the series, I think now is a good opportunity.

Okay, so I decided to rewatch this because it's one of my favorite DBs, and this in turn caused me to want to check something from the later games that they didn't cover in this fight(either because the games weren't released yet or it wasn't important to the fight) to help me understand something. See, I remembered seeing another GG character named Jack-O' frequently with Sol in fan art and I was wondering what their relationship is and I wanted to share my findings. So, here's what I figured out: When Aria died, That Man used her to create that weird looking robot thing. That thing is a Gear named Justice and it had half of Aria's soul in it. However, Justice didn't have all of Aria's memories, so it forgot who it was, went crazy, and declared war on humanity. In order to restore her, That Man created a series of "Valentines" in order to try to fix and complete Justice. One of these "Valentines" is GG character named Elphelt Valentine, who is a clone of Aria. Justice was supposed to fuse with Elphelt to turn human, but then decided that it didn't want to be human and wanted to remain crazy, and that's when Jack-O' comes in. Jack-O' was created as "the final physical patch" for Justice. Jack-O' was 100% compatible with Justice. Jack-O' as the "final patch" contained all of Aria's other memories, and by extension, basically had the other half of Aria's soul. So, in order to save Elphelt, Jack-O' forcefully fused with Justice, causing the two of them to become one, keeping the body of Jack-O' as she was able to overpower Justice. With the two of them combined, Aria lived again, though her memories are still buried under the Jack-O' personality, so Jack-O' doesn't actually know who she's supposed to be, but I guess Sol is aware of who she is, and so they started dating again. All of this is what I gleamed from the Wiki pages of Aria, Justice, and Jack-O', so I've probably got a few details wrong or I've missed some key ones entirely. Any GG fans, feel free to correct me to clarify this.

I'd love to see you play through the story modes of cross tag battle.

This came out before the most recent Blazblue game which actually answered a lot of those no one knows moments.

hey, duck did you know that BlazBlue made a crossover with RWBY, Persona 4, and Under Night In-Birth. and it's called BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle and it's a great fighting game to play so try it out sometime.

Also, I feel pretty certain that Sol Badguy is still the only Guilty Gear character that Death Battle has covered.

I would really like to see Death Battle try to tackle BlazBlue again.

Blazblue kind of started as a spiritual successor to Guilty gear by the same company until it evolved into it's own thing so the two series often get compared. I'm actually the only person I know who likes Blazblue but not Guilty gear but I know plenty of people who like both or only like Guilty gear.

The fact that you referenced Chowder almost made up for all the stuff you don't know.

At first, I thought Ragna would've won since what he did in Chrono Phantasma and Central Fiction But after getting some Guilty Gear Lore in my head, it made sense Sol is a tad bit stronger

I would recommend you Blazblue abridged by REVEL HOUSE but those got deleted due to bullshit reasons. Ragna the Bloodedge is from Blazblue Sol Badguy is from Guilty Gear.

Guilty Gear Strive is coming out before too long so perfect timing. Maybe you can get into it and know the smell of the game.

The reason these two faced off was not because they were both monster swordsmen, but because their universes are just so confusing and complicated.

for the record both of these characters were made by two different teams from the same company arc system works and they make fucking ART 7:07 yeah. the story of blazblue is incredibly dumb and makes no sense at all but that's not why people play it. also on the sol badguy side of things, guilty gear lore is nutty and filled to the brim with music references (the creator of guilty gear is a huge fan of freddie mercury) if you want to check out what the guilty gear story more or less is, i would recommend checking out guilty gear lore by woolieversus. it doesn't cover every detail but its still a solid source 16:03 yeah they didn't really go into much detail on explaining the research they did in this video and they also gloss over a fair bit that they do cover. idk anything about blazblue myself but, even taking into account when this video was made, sol was close to 200 years old in his story and had been killing gears the size of skyscrapers for decades, also the part about justice (the robot thing with the "blue robo penis") they didn't even mention that she singlehandedly turned the entirety of japan into a crater in the story and sol defeated her, albeit with some help.

99% of their fights suck, babies vs gods. like this one there was no way for Sol to lose.

The black beast should be impossible for Sol to beat on his own. it took an army of people wielding weapons specially made to hurt the black beast to kill it. it's essentially like Cthulhu, it ignores common sense.

why do japanese love doing english titles, where the name is pronounced differently to what you would expect it to be when said in english. Blazblue=blaze blue. hunter x hunter=hunter hunter. what next prune juice, but spelled like pron J?

These guys have an unwarranted hatred and misunderstanding of the Blazblue series and Ragna in particular. Ragna got the worst pre battle description in Death Battle, featured in one of the worst DBX episodes and the worst One Minute Melee episode. And don't get me started on when they did top 10 / top 5 videos. Those were infuriating.
