You try to move up to 6-9 to try and grab Zeev Buium (my personal top D). If you cant move up and its between Parekh > Yakemchuk at 11 for sure. Parekh has the higher ceiling with equal bust potential, Yakemchuk has several red flags the biggest being his very questionable hockey IQ. If Yakemchuk is the only the top 6 D left take a forward like Iginla/Catton/Senneke/Eiserman. Yakemchuk will not be the BPA at 11
I like the Sennecke pick. We'd have two Selke types with him and Celebrini. It would allow Warsofsky to create a shut down forward group or split them up to keep a solid two-way forward on each of the top two lines. Sennecke was my #1 choice at 14, but I didn't expect him to be there. At 11, I think the only D Man left is Yakemchuk. So, you can choose him or a forward. There should be much better forwards (relative to their position) than Defense at 11.
I think this is the first time I’ve disagreed with your pound the table pick. Tbh, I think Zeev is going to fall to around 8, and GMMG is going to try to move up. I think trading for 11 made trading for 8 much easier. I think plan B would be to get either Eiserman, Parekh, or Yak at 11.
I feel like Sennecke takes a bigger leap of faith than Eiserman. Amazing stick handler in juniors, but every clip I’ve seen of him his arms are moving more than his legs. He has quite a bit of work to do on his skating. He’s not going to dangle anyone in the NHL if he’s skating in slow motion.
Honestly I feel like Grier is not done yet. I have a feeling we get another trade in the morning or during the draft. 11 is decent, but Grier wants to get a top 10 or even top 5. I could see Ferraro, the 11th and maybe a 2nd pick for the 8th or 7th pick. I feel like Utah may also be in play to trade their pick to get a roster player this season. They have plenty of future studs already.
Don’t forget Haltunen, so excited for this team… I’d say push in all the cards for a top D-man, without trading one of our recent prospects… I think Dickinson is going at 6th (Utah) or 7th (Zeev) so hard to know which guy is better such diff players… I think Yakemchuck has a bit of Petro (Alex Pierangelo) vibe to him…
I think Eiserman or Yakemchuk. Grabbing Eiserman, you have your potential top 6 future fanchise forwards (obviously if they all develop and everything {slim odds} goes right. But get Yak and you potentially solidify a good fwd core and a good def core.
Listen, I like Sennecke well enough, but if we selected him over Catton, or any of the 6 defensemen, it would be disappointing. I do not see Sennecke in the same light as musty.
If the Sharks pick Eiserman at 11, that's trolling. Not even BPA at that spot if Grier wants to pick BPA. Assuming Sennecke is not in play and you want a forward, Catton > Eiserman. If the BPA is a Dman, you take one of Parekh or Yakemchuk at 11 (Buium, Levshuvnov, Dickenson, and Silayev may be gone by 11) and get a bluechip that can be a potential top pair D. Eiserman is nice but is what you'd swing for if we still stayed at 14
I hope Sharks fans won't be too disappointed when they inevitably end up picking Cole Eiserman. He's a former teammate of Celebrini and is attending Boston University next season 👀
