I totally can imagine some scientists were probably tripping on the same drugs they injected the bloatfly with getting blitzed one night and saying "hey let's take a horse-fly and inject with enough steroids, PCP and microfusion induced plasma to turn it into a flying plasma turret with with a super durability to out match robots made of Saturnite"
the giant robo-scorpion was actually added by Obsidian as a reference to the same enemy in the classic RPG “Wasteland”, which also inspired the Fallout series as a whole, sorry if you weren’t even referring to the giant robo-scorpion, i haven’t played any FF games yet so i wouldn’t know.
@@the_ghost_orchid there actually is already a giant robot scorpion in final fantasy also more specifically, a metal tarantula called the Guardian, which has been around since 1993
@Gematria Tim Cain has stated the giant robo-scorpion specifically was inspired by Wasteland’s, Wasteland 1 released in 1988, please, since i took the time to look up the Guardian, have the same courtesy. I’m really not trying to be rude, but a tarantula is a far stretch from a scorpion, if you search “Wasteland 1 Scorpitron”, you will see the uncanny resemblance between the Wasteland and NV models, even better, in Wasteland 2, which released 3 years after New Vegas, included a newer giant robo-scorpion that is almost EXACTLY like NV’s model, just without the bright colors, you can literally find an image of this just by searching “Wasteland 2, main menu”.
@@benjaminoechsli1941 I dunno, i tool down the bloat fly abusing the compliance regulator second try. Frank Horrigan i used every drug, ultra stim and missile i had but couldn't do it without both the turrets and the 3 other soldiers you can convince. (Had no companions)
That robo-scorpion took so long. I didn't even know you could turn on turrets and shit so I Cheese'd the HELL out of it, took me like 30 minutes and every round of Ammo I had 😂😂😂😂
If you shoot their wings it's kinda a walk in the park, but on harder difficulties they pack a serious punch so can be difficult. I don't think I've ever even seen the legendary bloatfly, even though I've 100% the game multiple times, so either it's a rare spawn or I have killed it n just didn't notice or don't remember. Probably don't remember, considering I've been playing this game since 2010, when I was just 10 years old
We all know the deadliest enemy in the entire game... IS I! DOCTOR MOOOOOOBIUS! ATACKING! WITH A CAPITOL G! GO MY MINION! STING THEM IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS MOBIUS! Wait... what was my raison for being here again?
@@Davidofthelost according to what i heard it was apparently part if a quest with the wacky wasteland perk where u hunt down weird monsters leading you to him
@@apocalypticpyromaniac7518This is true. It was cut from Wacky Wasteland because they felt they didn't have enough time to implement it good enough. It was supposed to be at the Fire Gecko Nest Edit: The fire gecko nest near the hidden deathclaw island
I couldn't agree more. I've never been stung by anything [knock on wood], but I fear nothing- save scorpions and bumblebees... and math homework... still haunts my childhood.
Rawr was a pain in the ass to kill but his claw makes for a great weapon. Bloatfly one just insta killed me the first time I saw it and I actually didn't realise it killed me I thought maybe the game bugged out.
I recently stumbled into the legendary botflys cave and was surprised when my lvl 38 character was dying in two hits from it. Luckily i had Annabel on me
The thing is that they can be circumvented. Pulse slugs make it much easier or the emp gun from vault 34 straight up destroys them. Doesn’t even need high energy weapons for it.
My first playthrough i didn’t consider to ally with the brotherhood to stealthily blow them up, so i collected a fuck ton of turbo and ran through the entire place with a hunting shotgun
That bloatfly I will never forget, definitely gave me a hard time. The other 2 not so much, mainly because I had a tactical advantage due to the area I fought them in. But that damn bloatfly, took a while but ended up defeating it.
Don't let the legendary bloatfly's accuracy fool you. You take so much as a tip toe into it's sightline, it will fire and fire and fire until you turn to a green stew
My newest playthrough, ive managed to get all of the "kill (specific character) with (weapon type)" challenges aside from the one for killing Benny with Maria, and that was purely because i wanted to kill him in his sleep after sleeping with him.
You forgot to include one enemy… One absolute beast of the wasteland capable of destroying citys and settlements if strong enough.. And has come back from the dead seeking vengeance, he forgot to include The Courier himself
I still remember when I stumbled upon the legendary bloatfly. If your curious how my first encounter ended up, you can watch the rabbit scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I like how this video overlooked cazadors. In packs, they can easily take you out especially when you're not prepared with antivenom and enough armor with special weapons. Also, they're a more common deadly enemy in this game. Nostalgia!
The legendary bloatfly has both the single highest melee damage AND single highest ranged damage, in (i believe) the entire fucking franchise! It may not be the tankiest creature ever, but is by far the most likely to turn your body into soup, thats for damn sure!
This is why I love fall out, the random events that happens that will make you want to tell the legends of your adventures of the experience of things making you feel helpless but in a funny way, but then later on you become the nightmare of the waste land as you slowly build yourself up, like in Fall Out 4, if you take half a enemy NPC's helth with one hit, it will run like you did when you met your first horrific nemesis like the Death Claw or that three leged robot that I refuse to say it's name because I scream to the hills every time
Who would win? A creature researched secretely for years, evolving to be a killing machine, now being free in the wasteland, being the nightmares of everyone (deathclaw) Or a funny fly that glows green? (Legendary bloatfly)
Man I still remember the sheer panic after finding the legendary bloatfly, I was woefully underprepared to take it on but still somehow managed to walk out of the cave alive. After like 15 loads lol.
It’s the player, my guy came back from the dead , killed too many mutants to count, and can take crazy blows just to freeze time entirely for medical aid, all while the enemy didn’t even know how they healed.
The deadliest organism in the mojave is the courier with their time in the wasteland all the radiation they have been exposed to made them an anomoly with the ability to teleport and control time itself.
Forgot the Big Bloater existed, walked into his cave “Oh shit bloatflies, Big mountains full of mean shit and this is what I get in here, pathetic” turned a corner and was melted. My melee gal had no fucking chance.
I remember getting stuck in old world blues with that giant scorpion and having to hide in a corner and use everything down to mines to get out of there
That bloatfly was the best jumpscare in the game. Me: sneaking through the cave. Sees bug... Shoots bug... Realizes. Wastes every stim and drug i have. Still died. The bloatfly: you gonna cry?
Story time: so I'm playing Lonesome road on series x for the first time in years and I notice there's a cave near a waterfall that's got made by the ruins. I save in case anything happens and I'm over encumbered at the time, I walk into the cave, dark as fuck, can't see shit, the cave entrance gets a bolder collapse and I notice the something with horns moving in the shadows. I turn on my pip boy light clenching my buttcheeks to the point they can mold diamonds, the damn thing is in front of me, it startles me so bad I jump up and fall off my bed as I'm about to use vats for a saving grace, this thing ends up tearing me apart regardless before I can get back on to my bed and see what I'm doing. It was genuinely one of the funniest experiences I had and I didn't even remember Rawr was a thing in Lonesome road, almost 20 years on and this game is still showing me how fun it can be.
Just another reason to eliminate ALL Scorpions?? Bro I remember being a kid and just getting out of good springs and mistakenly heading for NV and deathclaws maul me, this thing right here is another reason to STAY in goodsprings and drink to what could have been, at the local pub
I met the bloatfly yesterday for the first time. Kinda surprising but easy to cheese with quicksaves and hiding because it's in a cave and it won't really follow you.
