AFAIK Duarte from DriftHQ speaks Portuguese so he has help if needed. Edit, he definitely does, he did translations for Adam when they went to drift in Brasil.
I think the best thing about this video is seeing how a group of people that compete hard against one another can be good friends and leave what happens on the race weekend at the track and still be friends. Well done!

100%, he went through several timing systems before he got it sorted so I'm sure he (or his track manager) knows exactly what Adam needs. Would be sick to line up an Adam visit with a test day at BMP so Adam can send a real drag car down the strip. McFlurry has a turbo 400 now so it's easy enough to drive but I guarantee he will be hooked and dust off that Datsun
You need a simple IR beacon based timer. There is an IR beacon on a tripod by the track with a small IR receiver mounted on the car, probably on the outside of the windshield or corner of the hood that has line of sight to the beacon. Then there will be a display box inside the car to show times, reset the system etc. We used them in karting all the time. AIM made them but I think they have gone to only GPS based. There are others still available.
I was thinking the same when he mentioned GPS signal being trash. Longacre Hot Lap was the go to lap timer about 15 years ago and used that type of set up. Probably could pick one of those up for nothing now.
Anyone else think it's time for a full teardown and rebuild of the little legend car??? Seems everyone loves that thing. I'd love to see it all built out and liveried up...

For the timing system there are 2 main systems I’ve seen. The Autocross system which uses lasers and the traditional racing style wire in concrete transponder loops. For Autocross we use Farmtek but you can also reach out to pronto timing systems for help setting something up.
Seeing some of the all time BEST drifters do this made my day! Some of my favorite drifters in the world enjoying a Honda and being scared all at once. I’m a fellow Honda boy nerd & I love drifting, so this is Epic!!!
So funny, these guys drive high hp dreamcars, 1000 hp driftcars and they get the biggest smile and the most fun racing a 90's CRX and a Legend car😂. Having fun with your homies is priceless. Great video ❤👍🙏
In the R/C world some drivers use a system called 'Lap Monitor' for when they're by themselves doing practice at the track. It's a simple transponder system, however you would need a 6V power source to power the transponder if you're putting it on a full sized car.
I’m literally just here for the low horsepower Grip driving. Drifting is sick. But EVERYONE is putting out drift footage. This is refreshing! Thank you Adam!
Also, laser lap timing might be the best option. But as many others have said, definitely ask Cleetus what he thinks. He has the best experience and he's tested a couple different systems I think.
The best option for lap timing will be a break beam system like that used in autoX. No transponders, no loops etc, and could all be done off battery no problem. Looks like they're about $1k, but would make the compound lap times pretty legit moving forward

Around 2010-2014 i used an action camera called contour for racing short course offroad. It had gps built in and would give you lap times and map out where youve been. Then you could see your speed at different spots on the track. Was pretty cool and im glad it had the gps cause the footage was always useless cause id get mud on the lense.

Imagine driving 1000hp+ cars for a living and shaking after a 180hp honda, that must've been a rush. Hondas do this to people, everyone hates them until they really drive them
I had a smile from cheek to cheek seeing everyone just absolutely shred, so dope you let your friends come in and enjoy the compound as much as you do.. fucking sick
I would definitely recommend what is known as a "Light Curtain" or (Laser Curtain) at the start/finish line. In factory work they are used to make sure there is no limbs or foreign objects in the heavy machinery while running. Once the light curtain is broken it immediately stops the machine, I feel confident in saying that would be your best option for getting pin-point accurate times on your laps! If they didn't have an immediate response then they wouldn't be OSHA approved 😅 So go with that official OSHA approved stopwatch haha! Just an idea
I LOVE these long episodes. I just sit back and enjoy all the driving videos while I'm eating dinner or whatever, big vibes. 😎 Especially while I have a broken car currently, and can't enjoy driving myself. It's nice to witness you and your friends with some fun car activities. Seeing all of these drifters hop inside the Honda CRX, and put their foot to the floor around this little course is sweet. 😂 They all did so good. Anddd the Honda sounds damn good. Always loved a nice clean Honda. The 06 Civic Si, the 2000 Civic Si, EG coupe or hatch, and just any Honda that sounds hot when it cracks VTEC. When built right, they are too good. 😎
There needs to be more of this. Someone needs to make a tv show or something. Rad seeing all of the drivers goofing around and doing little challenges. Gives me Tuerckd vibes. More of these plz.

I love the crx! I used to have a black 91 SI and it was easily the funnest car I've ever owned. It was the first car I bought and I taught myself to drive stick in. I have the crx hoodie off your website! I love wearing it for the memories.
