Who do *you* think the greatest Minecraft player of all time is? Also, apologies for any poorly enunciated phrases or garbled-sounding words in this recording. Just got a new set of braces and I'm still getting used to them, so they've made my little lisp-sounding thing a bit more pronounced at times. I'm told it has to get worse before it gets better, though. Subtitles are there if you need them.
i saw a video a couple years back about this topic and my opinion was that bdubs and technoblade were the best at that time that i knew off and back then people were saying etho i think EDIT: i predicted this video! i told friends of mine that soon people will start to agree that bdubs is the best player, i knew it all along but his newest season is just too great to ignore it. also this will start a HUGE DRAMA between me and frostbyte freeman because kendrick lamar just always says he is the best, in fact that was his labels marketing for him since 2016 when he was on noisey and all that when in reality even 50 cent is a better rapper lets be real here, kendrik is notoriously overrated and has never "set the bar", he has never innovated, thats just fan talk, while bdubs is underrated, i think regardless the comparison isnt fitting because as you said bdubs tries different things kendy always plays it save with all his productions, kendirck is the type of guy that would make a machine to burn diorite because its "so ugly", he is the mainstream guy
Surely he has to be tho right. He was an OG pvp legend, an OG redstone pioneer, knew the ins and outs of the game, a key figure in the beginning of minecraft content, and his building skills are pretty decent. (Obviously the one flaw compared to bdubs is building tho)
I’ve heard that before I’m petty sure. I think it was about Jimi Hendrix. “If hes not your favorite guitarist he’s your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist
And in that very same episode, he exemplified the three primary categories of greatness I enumerated here- flawless PVE prowess against the monsters spawning in the cave of his own creation, brilliant redstone farm design, and impeccable building. Those pillars were NUTS. I made the claim, and he just proved it for me. Couldn't have asked for more impeccable timing if I tried.
Bdubs is mathematically by far the best MCC player since he is the only player to have a 200% canon winrate. Since underdogs was a "half canon" event but wins counted for full
@evanguillory5046 but you forget that Shane only has a 19% winrate (2/10.5). Bdubs is literally 10 times better than him. I think it's safe to say that, after the dust has settled, Bdubs was the real lynchpin of that team (/j)
Wait a minute I have a counter argument Feinberg won his first event on an underpowered and got second individual giving him the highest average in the MCC roster on top of a 100% win rate and Bdubs has only won one less competitive event
I love how it's not so much that he builds, but that he paints. Everything he does is considerate. I sincerely think he's currently revolutionizing building in Minecraft. And if not, then he revolutionized the way I played
Well said! I completely agree... even if his techniques are solely composed of synthesis, they've still revolutionized the way I view building, if nothing else.
Great video. My greatest Minecraft player is Etho, There are plenty of facts and "objective" reasons I could list, but the real reason, for me, is that he's always been there throughout my childhood and into my young adult life, and that he's consistently been Etho.
Etho's a really good one, for sure. Probably fits better within the ostensibly "objective" criteria this video outlines, but Bdubs is my guy, and I felt like burying the entire premise of the video behind an impenetrable veil of irony would make the earnest sincerity of the conclusion hit that much harder. nHo for life. 🤘
I've been watching Bdubs for almost 13 years. I've probably seen 75% of his uploads, and always come back for them. The thing that keeps me so engaged after I've left most other MCtubers in the past is he looks at this game differently from other players, like he is an artist and this game is his canvas, and every single block and function is something that can add to his creations. Thank you for giving this man the recognition he deserves.
I knew it was coming - inevitable really - but the scene from the Ivy Rose memorial cathedral still made me tear up. Talk about using Minecraft as a platform to role model being a good human being... Bdubs has really taken us through life with him and given us his wisdom along the way. He's like Mr. Rogers in being a mentor or even a father figure to us all.
There wasn't really another way this video could conclude, in my mind. The Mr. Rogers analogy is a good one, but I've always been partial to Bob Ross, for reasons I feel I didn't adequately enumerate in the course of the essay itself- much like Bob, he isn't the greatest or most noteworthy painter of all time, especially not in his own opinion, but despite that his skill has still managed to democratize the form and served as the starting point and inspiration to so many. And for me, that's why he's the GOAT.
this did feel like more of an argument as to why Bdubs best *exemplifies* minecraft, not so much as to why he's "the best" but interesting ideas regardless =)
i think we have an opinion who is the best and later we find the reasons why, bdubs is the best, given that, what are the reasons for that? conventionally people made these categories of the game to see who was the best, and this video is building upon that argument imo
@@FrostbyteFreeman It's not indefensible whatsoever. You completely redefined the common view of what it means to be good at things so they specifically fit bdubs, and then told us that bdubs fit those aspects the best. Yes of course you could argue for bdubs being the best minecraft player then... in the same way that i could say that i am the best F1 driver on the planet if i redefined what it meant to be good at driving F1 entirely. Keep in mind i don't even know how to drive. You continuously made this logically fallacious progression of thought and used it as an argument throughout the video for multiple different things too... and it slightly annoyed me. I feel the need to say however, i don't care who the best minecraft player is. It might be bdubs, he seemed pretty good to be honest. I am just an autist nerd who is very peculiar about correct and proper logical debating. Sorry :p
This video is a Bdubs glazer's dream come true. You spoke so many of my gushing thoughts into existence. Bdubs is a fine wine, only gets better with time.
I really just wanted a chance to share some appreciation for my other favorite Hermits. This video is dedicated to Bdubs, sure, but every chance I got, I wanted to put the rest of the crew over to make sure they got their flowers.
Bdubs might not have been the first Minecrafter I've ever watched, but ever since discovering him, I have never looked back. You have articulated EXACTLY the same feelings I have about the man and how much he has influenced not only my build style but in HOW I play the game. He's one of the reasons why I started my own RU-vid channel. Him inspiring me is exactly the reason why IM GONNA BE BETTER THAN HIM!! jk ofc but seriously playing in a world with him and just learning even more would be a dream come true. Banger video
There it is, there's the comment I've been looking for. Who's the greatest, not so and so, or them; no, it's going to be me. No point aspiring to be him, he already fills that niche, you need to go beyond! Props; and good luck w/ it! Made me think of a part out of the film Willow. The wizard holding his hand up and asking the aspirants, in which finger does the magic reside; though he doubted himself, when asked afterwards he said his first answer was his own finger; which was the right answer!
Therr is one moving up this ladder and it was mentioned in the video. PEARL. She started to get into redstone and had made a working Wordle game as one of her first projects. She is somebody that is always joyful and enjoy he4 work.
I so agree! Pearl just keeps getting better and better at every facet of the game, and her creativity fused with her capability and intellectual curiosity when it comes to every component of Minecraft makes her a force to be reckoned with!
I firmly believe Bdubs is the top builder in the game. but when it comes to the overall most well rounded player, there's a good argument to be made for Etho
Goddammit, I'm crying in a video about Bdubs 😂 I watched his first episode of Hermitcraft Season 10 this year and immediately recognized that he was doing something really special. The transitions and general editing, the 'timelapse' builds that are perfectly framed, the comedy... While other people are making videos, Bdubs is making ART every single episode. And not just with his builds, the ENTIRE experience is meticulously crafted. So glad someone else noticed. He deserves so much praise this season. Just don't let him hear it 😂😂😂
His combat prowess (as he would say) is incredible. If you haven’t seen his old modded battle royale series you absolutely need to. I’ve never been so on the edge of my seat for a Minecraft series. If you think his new stuff is amazing you have to check out his old stuff! Attack of the B-team series is also incredible.
one extra thing that i adore with bdubs - even with the egotistical, eccentric persona, he's honestly very wise and considerate, in almost everything he does. he's a jokester for sure, he's a creature, he's a force of mild chaos - but he's always so genuinely kind. he cares so deeply about everything he does. he runs around the servers he's on and offhandedly compliments other people and their efforts, as easy as breathing. in building with bdubs, he's so...calm. there's humor, yeah. but it's relaxed and you get to see him without the show makeup. he's a wonderful person, as well as a wonderful minecraft player. there's a reason he's such a joy be in the presence of.
((also, just one very small heads up! the music behind your speaking was a little loud at some parts! not too bad, but it was difficult to tell what you were saying. captions exist ofc, but figured i'd let you know! great video!!!!))
Absolutely! That was something I really wanted to underscore with this video, although I don't think I put it quite as nicely as you did- thanks for the comment!
Sorry about that! Been a while since I've done this, and my actual delivery was a bit off too. Which parts did you think had the worst leveling issues? I'll try to get that sorted next time around.
@@FrostbyteFreeman Of course!!! And no need to apologize, great video overall!!!!!! I think your delivery was pretty dang good. :)) Just scrubbed through the video again and, on a second listen/watch, I think one of the only bits that still sticks out to me as a bit difficult is the jazzy section around 16:40! It might not even be that it's too loud, but just a little bit too busy to go behind active talking? Works well in the lapses in voice though!!! One other bit that seems a little loud, still, on a second watch is the Kendrick section starting around 27:00. Not as hard to understand, but it does kinda fight for your attention against what you're saying! Again, great vid overall, really enjoyed it :)))
These are the kind of incomprehensibly nonsensical parallels that only my uniquely deranged mind could conjure. Glad to hear you appreciated that unconventional pairing, though!
@@FrostbyteFreeman yep, I was very impressed as well. If you haven’t thought about it, and I think you likely have, consider doing MC documentaries similar to this one. Ultimately, I think you have the chops to go into other areas that are interesting to you, too. I would watch any of this type of content from you no matter the subject matter.
YAAAA ANOTHER VIDEO FROM THE GOAT!!! I must say, when you were first talking about someone being a master of all the different elements of minecraft - building, pvp, redstone, etc. - Etho was def the first person to pop into my mind. I think at various points over his career he's been an icon in each of them. But you make a good case for Bdoubleo... and now I really want to go watch some building with Bdubs lol
Etho is brilliant. But I like Bdubs! He's my guy. He's the perfect encapsulation of what I value most about the game of Minecraft, anyways. And thank you for the kind words- hopefully you enjoyed the video regardless.
Holy crap, I just finished the combat section. I really think you hit the nail on the head with this. I've come to learn some of the stuff you said on my own, but you really brought it together in a way I've never thought about before. Amazing video.
If you or a loved one has suffered from mesoshreeplioma, or any other nonsensical Bdubs-isms, call the toll-free number on your screen. You may be entitled to financial compensation.
I remember being introduced to HermitCraft bc of Grian and his first episode of Season 6 with having watched his building videos prior, Bdubs would introduce himself and Keralis in the latter half of the season. So Bdubs wasn't on as long that season but there was definitely a different level of building going on with the little time there was left to that season; and he's the main reason I found out that gradients and texturing exist in minecraft then as there is now. He just keeps evolving his skill in his own way with the help of references and techniques that are either passed around the building community or a simple Google search. Ultimately it is his impact that stands out, that personality of his is very unique but something that I wish I could see more of in content creators today who merely try to copy others instead of being themselves, and to compare his art form and personality to that of the late Bob Ross is no understatement. AND HE BUILDS THE BACKS OF BUILDINGS UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE WHO ARE COWARDS THAT HIDE IT IN A MOUNTAIN! (jk G).
I mean... in the latest Building with Bdubs he posted today, he *almost* built the back of something, so surely that counts, right? Glad you appreciated this video, and that it resonated with your own feelings for Bdubs!
I've known about him for a long time, but Never really watched his videos. So this was my first time seeing his real face... With a voice like that, how is he so good looking 👀
This might be one of my favorite videos on this platform. It states some ive been thinking for a while that Minecraft is not a very good game but it is a incredible art medium whether that be exercise your freedom over the block palette or redstone tec or even over other people in pvp. Everything is art and i think bdubs is a great artist and story teller. Sorry for this its probably un readable lol
Not at all! Thank you for the comment- I sincerely appreciated getting to read your perspective, and I agree that at its best Minecraft is capable of becoming an art form in of itself.
I thought the combat section was going to be a joke but then you turned it into a brillant and convincing argument proving that I am indeed stupid and small minded. Extremely well done
This is THE greatest Minecraft video essay i’ve ever seen, the comparison with Kendrick Lamar’s lyrics and Kendrick himself, Barry Lyndon and its beautiful scenes, the message it gives of getting better, overcoming yourself and just the overall vibe of the essay is just magnificent, plus the Intro song at the end, wich is just the perfect Minecraft song for this video, it just adds points to this masterpiece. Thank you for taking the time of meticulously putting together all those details, it kind of reminds me of a Bdubs build.
Woah! That's extremely high praise- thank you so much for the kind words and compliments! I'm glad you appreciated all the comparisons I made and parallels I drew!
I mean stampy built the lovey word, had the redstone to build time machines and rockets, and is a pvp god and if you don't believe that check the enchanted island survival games. He was the childhood of millions with his impact.
only saw the thumbnail and youre so right. so pleased with my decision of watching bdubs since 2012. he has always been the person to push the boundaries of what you can build in the game and create new techniques
Bdubsis hands down my favorite builder. And a huge part of that is that every single hermit is like "My base is fine. But I kinda saw what Bdubs is doing so I'm gonna try that!" and the fact that he seems to just do things so effortlessly, almost just like winging it.
I think the effortless beauty of his art perhaps belies the hours upon hours he's spent studying, practicing, and preparing for every build. He's worked to get to this point, and that's what I respect about him.
11:45 I don't need to imagine. I play Minecraft Alpha where you can't see anything at night and the bed was not introduced yet, so every 10 minutes it's night. AND I'm terrible at fighting. Creepers are actually scary when you can't run.
The line ''bed was not introduced yet'' in this particular context is very funny, considering Bdubs, the person he's discussing, is the most compulsive sleeper in Minecraft.
this was an amazing video that i thought was js gonna be a funny thing when i saw the thumbnail, each section was beautiful and you really did convince me, bdubs is the goat. 10/10 video imo.
I hope it was still a little funny, though! That was the hope, anyways- to fuse sarcasm with sincerity in a way befitting of Bdubs himself. Glad you enjoyed it though! Thank you for the kind words.
this is so well stated! You really put into words what has made me love bdubs for all these years. Its not about how good at the game he is, its how he plays minecraft in a fun and very humble/human manner. I may see a pro pvp player fight and feel not event 1% of the joy that comes from watching bdubs flail around just like i would. and of course is builds are always a true inspiration each and every time there is some new technique to marvel at.
My thoughts exactly! Bdubs shield camping and Scar death looping are infinitely more endearing to me than hardcore, hardwired PVP combat content ever could be because those flounderings are more accurate to my own experience with the game. That's why their ability to build beautifully in spite of those constraints makes their work that much more aspirational, too!
My favorite RU-vidr is also from Hermitcraft, and its Scar. That man was put on this earth to bring joy and good times to every single person he interacts with. Despite so many struggles, he is one of the most altruistic, kind, and wholesome people. And, to top it off, he's an incredibly prolific builder that seems to have an endless source of inspiration. But, I love Bdubs too. We're so lucky to be able to witness a server like Hermitcraft with so many incredible and diverse talkents!
Bdubs has been my favorite youtuber since season 7 of Hermitcraft. He's entertaining, hilarious, and is the only minecrafter to build something that brought tears to my eyes, really.
i often times find it so hard to open minecraft because it is so intimidating to me, but he inspires me so so much. To just try. I cant tell you how many hours ive spent silently at my computer, just looking at the game, since ive started watching his videos. How his building styles makes me want to make the stories i make for dnd into something real. Something that isnt just words, but a painting someone can walk through. But i cant do it. I try and i give up, but every time i see his videos it just makes me want to try again. To see him make his own dnd world and have his friends walk through it, experience it in ways only he could make. I just love his builds so much and youre right, theres something about his relentless desire that makes someone like me. Someone who gives up, someone who views things as hopeless and feel this pressing weight of tiredness and depression. Actually want to continue. The inspiration to keep going, not just at this game of blocks, but in my writing. In my life. To see things in color, to experience the humanity of life. To live as more than a depressed robot that only sees value in what other people see as productive.
Thank you so much for commenting. I'm glad you find Bdubs and his talents to be creatively inspiring, too- if it's any consolation there, he didn't get to where he is overnight. He practiced relentlessly, and beat himself up, and read, and studied to master his command of painting concepts and their translation into the three-dimensional form. You have that same burning desire in you, and I hope you're able to paint a blocky picture you can be proud of someday. Something you can walk through and feel immersed in, something that captures the setting for your campaigns that you've always seen in your mind's eye.
Thanks for making a video that's able to capture how so many of us feel about BDubs. I found BDubs soon after my second daughter was born. The girls are now 15 and 12. He's sort of "been around" their whole lives. One of my proudest and happiest moments (it's so silly) was becoming a moderator for his streams. Anyway, you did an amazing thing here. Thanks, it's real poggers
No, thank you for sharing your story with me though this comment! It’s so cool to see how Bdubs has been a constant for two different generations, as well as the way he’s brought you and your daughters together and given you yet another thing to bond over! And it’s even cooler you actually got the chance to moderate for him- glad this video really resonated with you in such a strong way! It’s comments and stories like these that make this worthwhile.
Let this man cook! This video is bizarre in some ways, but in the end I couldn't help but love it. Thanks for making it :) My personal GOAT would be Etho for always pushing the limits of what's possible to do in survival minecraft whether its building a tamagochi, a storage system with a search function, or even way back when he invented things like the EATS road. For a player of a sandbox game, few have had such a massive impact on so many parts of the game, and so many people too.
Thank you! I’m glad you appreciated this video anyways, even in spite of its eccentricities… I’d like to think they’re a feature of my singular style and not a bug, haha
I’ve been watching Bdubs for many many years. He’s so good I watched him for years without ever playing Minecraft once. Just enjoyed watching him build and be himself.
i’ve been watching bdubs since season 1 of building with bdoubleo, and i think it’s fantastic that he has an entire video essay like this dedicated to him, because it’s so deserved
You're 100% right. Bdubs makes me want to be a better builder. I've actively tried new techniques and block combinations that I never would have before, because he showed me how they can allow for cohesion on a larger scale
That's not a half-bad idea! It's even one I considered myself, but the superlative bait-and-switch in the title loses potency after just once, and videos this long and exhaustive are super trying to make.
Bdubs is the best builder. Others have more skill in some aspects, but none have the insight for creative buildings that he has. Also, he is one of the best YTers because of his hilarious personality.
There are three or four names that come to mind for me. Bdubs, for all the reasons listed. Grian, for a number of the reasons listed, plus his loving chaos and the fact that honestly he's kinda revolutionizing the very idea of what multiplayer Minecraft could be, and finally captainsparklez for his actual lack of true consistency, as he, to me, exemplifies what it means, at least within this sphere of the internet and communities, to be unapologetically yourself. Especially sparklez, to be honest, as he is the only reason I stayed interested in Minecraft for a long while, and that interest is what led me to mumbo, who led me to hermitcraft, and between sparklez and half of hermitcraft, they are what maintain my interest in not just Minecraft, but a big part of why I still care about consuming creator content in general to this very day
I think you summed it all up when you said "Bdubs is the Bob Ross of this art form". In general, and overall agree with this, and it is even more on the nose this season (S10).
Absolutely! Much like Bdubs, Bob Ross never thought his paintings were good enough to be displayed in a museum. There are a lot of truly insane builders out there, and as students of the art, neither would ever truly call themselves the best, but to my mind, they'll forever be immortalized for making their respective mediums more accessible to the layman. This season of Hermitcraft, Bdubs has really peeled the layers back to give us a glimpse into his process, and it's been sorely appreciated.
I feel like Pat and Jen might hold that place up there for me. In the current and past landscape of Minecraft, I almost felt a pressure to have a ton of friends to play with or hop on public servers because playing alone kind of meant you were a "loser". To this day, playing on any sort of public server in a game feels like I'm back at my first day of high school. I'm not all that interested, and I'd be fine if I had pursued education alone (lockdown was what solidified this feeling for me). Even though they're gone now, I'd say it was comforting knowing that people could still enjoy a very isolating game with just each other and people wouldn't really judge you for that.
That's an awesome perspective! I can definitely see why you'd feel that way, since I come from a similar place. Glad to hear Pat and Jen were able to help you feel more comfortable with the way you played the game!
Thank you! Glad you liked it... this video definitely had some of my favorite comedic editing beats I've ever done, so I'm happy to hear you appreciated them!
i do not have a specific greatest player, instead this community is my greatest player. the collection of efforts and collaboration within occasionally conflicting playstyles is so inspiring to me, seeing the redstone community being cared for and caring for the rest of the community within the latest snapshots is one such example. despite our differences, despite our fighting we still care, respect and inspire each other to push this community to greater and greater heights
Rekrap has basically mastered everything in the game, redstone, building, speedrunning, pvp, parkour, commands, he's well-rounded in all of it. But there are some hidden gems who aren't quite famous so they don't count. Skill probably beats experience.
True, also people seem to forget there's more than just the english community. The spanish community for example has a ton of extremely good and talented players. A good example would be ElRichMC, the first person ever to get bedrock in vanilla survival singleplayer, which is a very talented technical MC player, being good at building, commands, redstone, technical MC in general, mapmaking, commands, PVE, PVP though he kinda rusty nowdays ngl, etc. and has one of the most impressive and remarkable survival worlds ever made, hands down. That being said, I only know of the english community and spanish community because those are the languages I understand, so there could easily be players that are as good or better in other communities such as the Chinese community which is massive for example, there's the portuguese community too, italian, french, german, russian, etc. The world is big, there's no way to know who trully is the best player in general.
ive gone from discovering bdubs in season 7 because his building style resonated with me, to the only hermitcraft videos i watch being his. hes been such an essential part of me growing up, shaping my building style, my understanding of the game, my OUTLOOK on how this game is supposed to be played, and my sense of humour... he really has got it all. we love him to death and THANK YOU! for giving him this praise, he deserves it so much.
For me there are a couple candidates. Minemanner: One of the, if not the greatest pvper of all time, great at movement, and was part of Grian's old build team, becoming very good at the creative side of the game. One area he might be lacking in is the technical side of the game. Etho: Pretty much the exact opposite of Minemanner, pioneer in redstone, amazing builder, and with his recent mcci training arc, he has gotten some decent pvp and moevement. He is also an expert at a lot of niche areas of the game like noteblocks.
Really good choices here- definitely agree that Etho's note block arrangement skills are severely underrated. The 1812 Overture he did last season with Zed and the Frogger theme from this season both had me grinning like an absolute idiot the whole way through.
If buying merch from any content creator is a form of statistic, then Bdubs is my favourite Minecraft player of All Time, though he's the only content creator I've ever bought merch from, which in itself is quite telling. BdoubleO100 is in my so humble opinion, the greatest of them all (closely followed by EthosLab). His legacy of the Paw Patrol videos extend far beyond just great art, but on a more human and emotional level, they're fantastic. After a devastating family tragedy, Bdubs pulls himself out of the gutter and delievers a masterpiece.
That definitely is telling, to be sure. And that's an absolutely fascinating way to contextualize the real purpose of those Paw Patrol adventure maps- totally recontextualizes them for me! Thanks so much for commenting.
I used to not like watching Minecraft building videos, but BDubs can actually make the pixelated world looking magical. I agree, every single block looks perfect.
my goat is paul soares jr. Ive watched him since I was a little kid, 10 years ago. IMO, he plays survival Minecraft the right way. I always try to emulate his playstyle, while also going down my own path.
I’ll admit that unfortunately I’ve never seen his stuff before, but thank you so much for sharing! It’s so cool to see how deeply his work has affected you throughout your life and shaped your sensibilities when it comes to playing the game!
I’ve watched 7 hermits since season 6, time to make it 8. Phenomenal video by the way the music selection during the first building segments was stellar.
Thank you! I didn't do my due diligence and that lone track got the video copyright striked, but I'll be damned if I'm changing it now. Was really pleased with the way it turned out in the edit- glad you enjoyed it, too!
I discovered bdoubs probably 8 years ago when he appeared on crewcraft season 1 and I've watched every video except the paw patrol ones since lol. He's the only minecraft youtuber I watch on a regular basis. He's clearly got a good business brain and cares about his product, the fact that he makes his ads are worth watching entertainment wise is huge Hes just so lovable and connectable, his humour has a bit of norm macdonald in it, its almost shocking hes not canadian
That one time when he started telling a shaggy dog story on the Life series, I could have sworn I was seeing shades of the Moth Joke. Two very funny guys, right there.
the magic of a Bdubs build, is that in one second, you blink, or your eyes slightly lose focus, and for a split second, that build he made just turned into an actual photograph. something primal in your brain tells you, without a shadow of a doubt "That is a REAL tree right there. this is a real place" and then you wake up from that split second and realise that a MINECRACT BUILD just made your own mind question the distinction of reality. he's THAT good.
I think the waterfall in the forest exemplifies this best of all- if you really squint, it's staggering just how well he's managed to capture non-blocky natural curvature and angles. Thanks for sharing your perspective with me, I really appreciated reading this comment :)
Bdubs is probably the greatest Minecraft builder, and is probably one of the top 5 greatest Minecraft players of all time due to his influence and a lot of his 'all around' skills, no one has yet to excel in all aspects of Minecraft. However I will say from an objective standpoint Etho is the greatest Minecraft player of all time as Etho is the closest to excel in all aspects, building, redstone, PvP (even if he is now washed up), but beyond that there is the one undeniable factor, Etho is a legend. The fact that so many of the Minecraft content creators are Etho fans and were influenced by him says a lot, how many times have we heard people say "I started out by watching Etho" and the reaction Etho got from other players on his first MCC just said it all. He's not my personal favourite content creator, I actually enjoy watching him more when he's in other people's videos and streams, but the fact that he's my favourite content creators' favourite Minecrafter is enough for me to recognise Etho as the GOAT.
That’s definitely a very compelling argument, and I can totally see where you’re coming from! I’d be careful throwing the word objective around, though- who says those criteria you’ve outlined are the universally accepted ones to decide greatness in a sandbox game?
@@FrostbyteFreeman I was using it in a way that I was being 'objective' - using the criteria that I then laid out, rather that just listing my personal favourite Yes others will have their own criteria, and using those they may arrive at a different answer, but for me, I can't put a round peg in an Etho shaped hole, and that is what I meant there.
1:15 good subtle pun foreshadowing Edit: I didn't realise that this was intentional, now I know after watching the video, seeing your humor and attention to details of what makes him good, seeing the glass full in how he plays the game, yanno so many thoughts and yet when it comes to saying it out I have .. well I don't wanna type a paragraph nor express the origin of the thought specifically to give more perspective, perhaps why even Bdubs left a joke instead of his thoughts. My favourite build of his, jaw dropping level, is when I first saw the nether brick gunpowder shop, I never expressed it even in his comments, such an artist's way of looking at building.. such a bold stroke and I'm bow down to such efforts, and I really see the validity of your point in his way of enjoying the process of Minecraft.. his way of seeing things evokes play style. The way of looking at minecraft builds seeping into his play style. I cry inside sometimes knowing the peers he has.. everybody... and I mean everybody expands upon what they've previously built up to, and I just wish he had more peers who are improving in his specific direction and to that extent, that distance. I mean there are young minds now, considering how long Bdubs had to improve his craft, they're just starting out.. but they have the likes of Bdubs shoulders to stand on.. point being I wish he right now had someone of his likes as a coworker to inspire, work together and push the boundaries of content creation and creativity. He is truly special, his personality is only unique and complementary to his craftsmanship. Thank you for putting together the time to edit, (funny and I appreciate the way you speak and think) and I hope Bdubs sees my, this appreciation comment for I have never expressed it elsewhere, cause just like you, appreciating specifics would lead to a 40 min video. I really love this season's way of editing, really giving off premium subscription vibes.. the quality is so good that I want to throw money at my screen. Even more thoughts than I can fit in a comment section so ima stop Edit: seeing the abundant choices of good creators, and ever changing which mind I like to observe.. I couldn't put one over the other.. but I realised I never appreciated or said it aloud ... So I felt obliged .. to Bdoubleo100 with love
Thank you! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the video, and that it summed up some of your thoughts on Bdubs. Like I said in the video, I still think he has plenty of peers- Scar especially, since they both bond over their shared love of Minecraft building techniques- but he's still got Etho, Doc, Beef, Cleo, Gem, and the rest of the gang to lean on. And if you feel this strongly about his work and the impact it's had on you, please, by all means, let him know that too! As much as I appreciated it (and I definitely did), I'm sure he'll appreciate it even more.
Thanks for the kind words, but I think it was definitely short sighted on my behalf. It was perhaps carried over emotion from a perspective from the past that had me sad over the loneliness in thought patterns when you're at the top with such a unique stroke. I've changed my stance on that after understanding every great mind that imagines in a creative way builds on what's existing, borrowing from many things, subtle inspirations over a lifetime that shape a taste. Borrowing from the contemporary, the past, mechanics, nature, etc as far as the mind seeks, so it's not anymore about the pressure of a unique taste but the joy of collaborative new heights. That idea of a unique taste yanno like something given at birth like a house from Harry Potter, like Slytherin, has changed to everybody's a bit of something from everything. From 'how dare you copy in the excuse of inspiration' to 'yeah that's a valid new way of portraying that', every bit is valid for invalidating that would invalidate one's own personality. It's a new world I'm experiencing being honest and enjoying the thought patterns that inspire creativity, it's a relief that everyday I find people who enjoy the exposition behind an intent, and a world I want to be in when I seek the common over the differences.
40 minutes of video about the greatest Minecraft player of all time and not a word about his urge to ingest the game in it's most basic form by riding a horse. Anyways, I agree. Bdubs is the greatest. I didn't realize it back when I started watching Hermitcraft videos years ago but over time it became more and more clear, especially with the new evolution of his videos at the very start of season 10, that no matter how much joy I find in watching other players, nobody matches Bdubs. Certainly not when it comes to Minecraft players who are also content creator I'm following and watching. Bdubs makes every single aspect of the game enjoyable for me (to watch). His building is plain art, his redstone with Bdubs is entertaining yet educational, his interactions with fellow server members are more often than not absolutely hilarious while maintaining an innocent pureness. What he lacks in skill in some regards he makes more than up in his strive to improve and mastery of others. Bdubs brings me joy, I look forward to his videos and when watching I am able to leave my pain and sorrows behind, he sometimes even manages to make me laugh out loud when watching him even though I hardly ever laugh loud, ever. While I can't speak about the person, John, simply because I do not know him, I'm very grateful what for what he gives me almost every week for years and I love Bdubs.
GOD DAMNIT YOU'RE RIGHT I SHOULD HAVE MADE SECTION FOUR JUST TITLED HORSE, I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THAT Thank you so much for commenting, though, even if it only served to remind me of my own painful inadequacies! I completely agree with the way you articulated his philosophy towards the game, and it's why I find him so endearing too.
LMAOOOOOO you know what you're absolutely right! What an incredibly succinct and insightful explanation, never thought of it that way before! Thank you for commenting!
That's incredibly high praise! Glad this video resonated so deeply with you, and that it managed to evoke such powerful emotions even though this is only your first-ever exposure to Bdubs!
