The Morrigan is also thought of as the goddess of fate and battle. She rides in a blood red carriage pulled by a red horse with one leg, and appears to warriors as a washerwoman washing THEIR OWN garments soaked in blood as a harbinger of their death. Great video, I haven't heard of the Donn and Bile so that was cool to learn about!

Another interesting video. Great job, you're so good at finding art for these. There seems to be a number of triple deities in celtic myth. Lugus (Lugh) in gaul was sometimes portrayed with 3 faces, too. I've seen a source or two speculate that Rhiannon/Epona might be a triple goddess as well. A sort of marriage/fertility/hunting-and-horses link. Can't say I buy into it much myself. Im busy with the Brigid/Sirona connection lol.

There's no "th" sound in Irish. _Tuatha_ is pronounced, "too-AH-ha". The second _T_ is silent, the _H_ is not.

Could you do a video on the Triple Goddess motif of Celtic mythology. It's a very popular concept but I've never actually found were people get it from. the Morrigan is described as either 1 regular goddess or the Morrigan isn't a goddess but is the title for a band of sister war goddess and prophetess of fate similar to the fates of Greek myth or its a metaphor for the different aspects of nature or more literally the different forms the Morrigan takes as a goddess well known for the power of transformation. but I haven't come across source for the idea of the triple goddess as 3 separate goddess with 1 mind like the weird sisters. The only one I could sort of find is in the tale of Cú Chulainn when the Morrigan takes the form of 3 old crones to offer the hero dog meat which he cant refuse breaking his Geis ensuring his death but I'm not sure if that's the real story since many versions its just 1 normal human old lady and not The Morrigan that offers him dog meat.

Very interesting. I cant remember where I read about it but sometimes the god Donn is actually the goddess Danu. Danu is only briefly mentioned in the book of invasions and is more of a reconstructed character that exists from the name of the gods, Tuatha Dé Danann (Children of the goddess Danu) so although Irish Danu doesn't seem to have survived she shares alot of indo European roots and maye even Pie roots, and theres also a Danu in Hindu mythology, mother of the Danavas and Vitra the world serpent/dragon. Donn is sometimes said to be female and their role as an underworld god or goddess waiting in the hall of Tech Duinn for their descendants to gather and a have a final meal before venturing to the underworld/afterlife coincides with Danus role as a primordial ancestral figure. don't quote me on it but I think that there's a welsh Danu that's also a underworld goddess that ties to Donn and Danu being the same deity.

Yes but it is only one interpretation that Tuatha dé danann means children of the goddess danu

@@cainebarrettduggan5337 Well its a bit complicated, Tuatha Dé Danann direct translated in old Irish. Tuath = tribe, people, folk etc Dé = Dia, God or Day and Danann = the possessive form of Danu, Anu, Dana implying they belong or come from her. So The Tribe or People Of The Goddess Danu is usually the most common interpretation. Children contextually makes more sense if their gods from the goddess Danu the primordial all mother goddess.

Is there anywhere which names the descendants of Donn? Or Eber Donn son of Milesius. There is also a theory that Donn and Dagda are one in the same
