Odd to say, my BEST surprise was during the Circuit Breaker, when i told my friend that I was going to Fairprice for grocery shopping. Although he did not live nearby, he suddenly appeared with his homemade bubble tea cause he knew how much I missed it. After subsequent interactions, he then became my bf today. The BEST surprise I've ever received from my friend was a handmade resin alphabet keychain "Y" that my dear friend handmade it from scratch. I personally love to handmake gifts for my loved ones and friends but naturally I don't make them for myself nor expect to receive something handmade by my friends. So on one fine day, this lovely friend of mine sent me a package and when I opened it, I saw the letter "Y" pink florals and sparkly design keychain. A very pleasant surprise to receive and that one thing that made me happy was that it was handmade from scratch from pouring resin to embedding the florals. Handmade gifts have that added special touch and you could definitely feel it from the gift. 🥰🥰 #YGWx987fm
Bunch of my closest friends threw me a divorce party the day my divorce was finalised. It was both a great end to what was a draining chapter of my life and an amazing start to celebrate the newfound freedom. They even designed t shirts to commemorate the moment. It’s been 8 years since then but occasionally I think back fondly and thank god I’ve got such strong emotional support to tide me through sad moments. #ygwx987fm
It was a night walk in school. I was the last pair to walk the night walk. The entire camp group scared the hell out of me by telling me the ghostly and creepy encounters. Apparently some even screamed in a distance (for sound effect?). One forced me to run with her. When we stopped to catch our breath, some of them entered with a cake and sang me a birthday song. #YGWx987fm The best surprise I've ever received was when my friends gathered at my uni just to give me a birthday surprise, with my favourite cheesecake, a balloon 🎈 and a handmade scrapbook with all my unglam photos! 🎂 🙈 I was hella stressed back then as it was the period of final exams, and it was a pleasant surprise that cheered me up amid the stressful period! 🥰❤ Thankful for this bunch!!!
the BEST surpise will be that during my birthday my friends organised an amazing race for me and I had to collect clues to reach the next destination. At the end, there were more friends who joined and we celebrated together! Its amazing how much effort they put in and i was really touched
#ygwx987fm A little background: my sister and I are really close but like most singaporean siblings we show our love by calling the other names and ,on occasion, treating each other to bubble tea (but always screwing with the other’s order). My 21st was during the peak of circuit breaker when there was still the restrictions on group size and I never was a big party person so I was just expecting a small celebration with the family. The days leading up to my birthday my sister was really distant. Not responding to my “hey poo poo” greetings or entertaining any of my lame jokes. I was really worried that I had taken it too far and hurt her feelings but she refused to explain why she was giving me the cold shoulder. Turns out she was just busy coordinating with my various groups of friends to make sure they could come down to surprise me without violating the restrictions. It was the sweetest thing and I’m so grateful for her.
I guess the BEST surprise my friends actually gave me was to actually come and visit me when I was hospitalised for a period of time in the past, and did not expect that they would still come and visit me after school despite their busy schedule. #ygwx987fm the best surprise is by far the most recent surprise i had 2 weeks ago! was supposed to meet my friend a few blocks away to collect some items from her at 10.20pm. at around 10pm, she texted me saying that she was reaching so i said i’ll head down now. wanted to bring my dog along and while i was getting his leash ready, my mom helped to open the door and she screamed in shock. i asked her what happened and she said nothing much. when i stepped out of my house, i screamed in shock as well as my friend was standing there with a birthday cake (it was my birthday in a few days!!!). we clearly didn’t expect anyone to stand right outside our house… in summary: double surprise in less than 20 seconds 😂
#YGWx987fm The best surprise I had is a birthday celebration held by my classmates for me. They all chipped in to pool fund 🤜🤛 for my one birthday gift 🎁although we are all still schooling. It is one of those birthday gifts that I will keep close to my heart as it comes from all of them collectively. It isn’t the number of gifts one receives on birthday but the underlying intangible value that warms my heart ❤️. Some of them even add on to get me English classic literature books 📚 as they know I like reading them. It is really heartwarming to know on that day that my friends remember and are prepared to celebrate my birthday with and for me. 🤗

The worst surprise I received was when my friend casually mentioned to me that I should exercise more and he will be buying me sports shoes for Christmas, I told him I already had sports shoes and not to do that. Come Christmas Day, he arrived with a bag from a sports brand and I started feeling worried. As I unwrapped it, it revealed a shoe box. I moaned and said he shouldn’t have done that. I opened it and it revealed a pair of sports shoes and I wanted to facepalm myself. I tried to backpedal and thank him so as to not sound ungrateful when I realised he was smirking. Suddenly, I noticed they were mens shoes, and a ribbon was poking out from the shoe. My real gift was inside the shoe, he had went the extra mile to prank me on Christmas 😜😜😜 #YGWx987FM
Having been on a hiking trip in the Indonesian rainforest, my friend came home and gave me a piece of souvenir he learnt from his tour guide - "if you ever come across a tiger in the wild, don't run away or do anything drastic as it will likely chase or attack you. The best thing to do is to pee on the spot as it finds human urine repulsive." Whether its a myth or fact beats me - I don't have the adventure spirit like him anyway and don't foresee myself ending up in a jungle. One night, I was trapped in a series of nightmare where I was in a kampong village on top of green hills and a tiger entered my home and was directly in front of me. I was so terrified! Luckily I remembered my friend's advice and took a long pee to shoo it away. True to that, it backed off and prowled another way. I was safe at last! All of a sudden, I woke up and found my bed wet. Never has this happened in my 😮😯😧adulthood. Definitely not a good surprise
The best surprise I’ve received was having a close group of friends ‘kidnap’ me by blindfolding me and putting me in the car and the next moment I know, I was at the Singapore customs, on the way to Kuala Lumpur to celebrate my birthday while my dissertation submission was due (which I submitted late but still did pretty good!) My Worst Surprise is when My Friends Actually Hide a Necklace within the cake. And that was my 21st birthday and I was made to use my mouth to take it out. And I had to sink my mouth within the cake with all the cream all Over my mouth. And that's not All, I was being Pushed to the swimming pool and Splash splash splash, boy, I couldn't swim and struggled a little before one of my friends Jumped in to help me. [#YGWx987fm] The best surprise I had was for my anniversary last year, when my girlfriend hid the gift somewhere in the house & made me play riddles/all sorts of games just to get clues on its location. When I found it eventually, it was a brand new iPhone13 & I was extremely touched because not only did she secretly asked all my friends to chip in (voluntarily, of course), she knew that my old iPhone8 was starting to give me problems as well. I am a rather frugal person so getting a new phone wasn't exactly something I was in a huge hurry to get, taking into consideration the price as well. It was a really sweet gesture and easily the best surprise I've gotten so far!

My BEST surprise received from my friends was during my 24th Birthday Party, when I was given a set of presents, which included the props that I had to wear and dance to a designated KPOP song. The KPOP song that was chosen for me was none other than "Expectation" by Girl's Day, which was 1 of my favorite KPOP song back then, & it was a song known for using the suspenders worn as part of their choreography. After putting on the "long hair" prop & wearing the suspender, my friends played the dance version of the Music Video for me to dance the entire song which honestly is both a SURPRISE and a NIGHTMARE to me till today. The best surprise that I received from my friends were actually during one of my birthday. My poly friends has actually made a plan to surprise me at my house BUT they collaborated with my best friend (ps. They don’t even know one another)!! My poly friends pretended that they are not going to do anything special for my birthday but guess what?! They appeared at my house with my bestie and I was so shocked because I totally did not expect it at all. I remember crying because I was leaving that school and also probably not going to be close to my friends anymore. I cried so badly that time then suddenly one of my friends came to me and gave me a huge very pretty wrapping box and asked me to open it. I was honestly very shocked and happy as I didn't expect a surprise. That gift really made me happy and so I started unwrapping the wrappers. It became very weird after I unwrap the first layer than the second than the third and more until from big it became small... Thinking it was the last layer of the wrapping, I faster unwrap it and guess what... It was a mini box. So I thought it was a jewelry... And when I open the box, it was EMPTY!!!....I remember that day I was so shocked and so upset and I was so mad at my friends😔😭(hope that no one goes through this...)Even though people might think that this is probably the worst surprise, but to me even though it made me kinda upset, I would say this was my BEST surprise and it really made me shocked!
#YGWx987fm Not the best surprise but definitely unforgettable. It was my birthday and my friends gathered for a celebration. I received a call 15 minutes before the meeting time from a close friend asking if I was reaching. I remember I was very confused because I was at home enjoying a lazy birthday. The friend then told me that most of our friends already reached. That left me even more confused because my plan for the day was to do nothing. In the end, I found out that the friend planned a birthday lunch but forgot to invite me and check if I already made plans (which I had). So I showed up 30 minutes late to my own birthday lunch and a bunch of apologetic faces. Funny thing was the same shenanigan happened 2 or 3 years after that incident but with a different group of friends. I left work and was on my way home when I received a call from an anxious friend asking me where I was. I said I was on my way to the bus stop to catch my straight bus home. The friend became even more anxious and tried to find excuses to make me u-turn to my office building (3 friends from the group interned at the same company with me while caller friend and another friend interned in the vicinity). It didn't make sense to me because I had no reason to u-turn when I had to be back there 15 hours later. Eventually, the friend had to tell me their plan so it wasn't a surprise anymore. Nonetheless, I spent a unique and memorable birthday at an ice bar with beer tower that we couldn't finish. Thank you for remembering the ice bar that I casually brought up once in our conversation. P.S. The best surprise I had was a prank by a classmate who pranked us that she was transferring school. As she was a friend of mine I was very sad and wrote a card for her and the class even planned a farewell for her. Only on the day of 'farewell' we then knew we got pranked as she brought a box of cupcake with each cupcake a letter each summing up to 'YOU GOT PRANK!' It was actually a plan to end the year with a prank yet I think the biggest gift for her and the class is being able to see how much the classmates cherish one another and our class bond #ygwx987fm

We have known each other since secondary school and we have seen each other do our Os, As Unis and first jobs.
