He's lucky that his story ended before Avacyn went insane. I think he was spared a lot of suffering. Imagine losing Avacyn in the worst way, then facing an Eldrazi invasion, then getting invaded by the Phyrexians.
Oh man I remember him his story was cool despite its abrupt end I mean his death was trying to help a fellow planswalker with his affliction just that blue vs green black with a head start. Plus man Innistrahd no wonder we got so many planswalkers here so many sparks ignite so often. Also another sad reminder of what happened to Avacyn and her original kindness
It's a shame that most esper associated/styled characters end up consumed by the pursuit of perfection in artifice. Vronos seemed pretty moderate all things considered, hope we get a spiritual successor one day.
Thank you for this. Teferi invited me to magic, Vronos showed me around. I played the mtg 201and he was a character I was inspired to study more into blue magic. I loved this dude for his fashion but never knew who he was until 8 years later. Always wanted his mask after his fate with Garruk. Miss him honestly.
I wonder if Wizards will use any of the other avatars from the Duel of the Planeswalker games as future Planeswalker cards. In the 2012 game, they had Ral and Kiora, who didn't have Planeswalker cards until later in the future. The 2013 game had more original avatars in it, I would love to see some of those avatars turned into actual characters and cards.
i played the hell out of duels of the planes walkers(original), and 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. I trophy whore'd them all. the original was nostalgic with the ability to only modify decks by adding cards to the original decks (no subtraction over 60 card decks). 2012 was my favorite. it introduced the archenemy format.allowing a player to play semibalanced 1 v3 matches. 2013 had a plethora of decks to play . it introduced planeschase but i wasnt super fond of it. 2014 was my 2nd favorite allowing you to play eldrazi ramp and enchatress . It even had a limited play mode with packs. 2015 was also a very very good game. It allowed more of a loose deck construction that set the blue prints to MTGA (imo). my favorite deck was a warp world combo deck . wild
@@matheuscomparini1663 Are you daft? If you have two scenarios, what's better - Scenario 1) You have Atraxa out and three (not including Vronos) walkers against opponent(s) with a decent board presence. He swings, you block one thing/token. Your 2-3 walkers dies. Scenario 2) You have Atraxa and 3 Walkers (including Vronos), your opponent has good board presence - you phase two out, have a Vronos which demands an answer, and an Atraxa to defend it. Mate, do you know how Atraxa superfriends works?
@@Medusala I was saying that the commender does not have synergy with Vronos because the end step trigger does nothing if your walkers are phased out, if youre just concerned with protecting them and do not care about atraxa’s ability, just dont cast the commander and wipe the board. Your scenarios dont solve the synergy issue, and if youre just protecting your PW just wipe the board your PW are not dying if your opponents have no creatures
@@matheuscomparini1663 But they can work. Vronos' Phasing ability triggers on the next end step. Yours most of the time. And end step triggers can be stacked however you like. That means you can have Atraxa's proliferate ability go off first, add counters to your planeswalkers, then have Vronos' ability trigger, phasing out your walkers. They totally work together like chocolate and peanut butter.
Never knew his name but ah I do miss playing Duel of the Planeswalkers. I mostly used Corrupted Centaur as my avatar in those days (looks familiar these days). I miss old MTG 🥲
Cool, Cool, Now where is Ramaz? The guy who tricked Chandra into collecting the Dragon Scroll and causing Jace to chase her down? The guy who basically set off the chain of events leading to Rise of the Eldrazi?
I like the char but I will admit I am not a fan of superfriend decks and never a fan of them getting more support>.> Yet to fight a superfreinds deck that does not suck the fun out of the game by the nature of the deck requiring so much control, bounce and wipes>
I have purchased a vronos and put it in my planeswalker deck. Holy hell he sucks. He's the worst card in the deck by far. But I have such a deep care for the character that he's in the deck anyway
Mono blue doesn't get enough Planeswalker love. Any non-Jace blue Planeswalker card makes me happy. As an Inquisitor, he sought knowledge to best his target. His dedication tempered by learning. He became better at fighting evil by studying about Esper artifice. I feel blue is a good choice for him though I want a W/U card representing his faith more.
Love that we finally got a card for Vronos. I didn't have a game store when I first got into MTG so I played the Xbox game a lot. And he happens to be from my favorite plane Innistrad. I'm actually building a D&D game with him in it.
Can you possibly the discuss the fact that since the omen paths now exist slivers from all over the multiverse can now link together and the high possibility that the hive mind can finally be one ?
Man Vronos got done dirty by the lore. Imagine having such a crappy childhood then finally getting your stuff together and going out to serve your angel only to get glomped by Captain Beefcake. RIP.
I feel so disrespected at the fact this is there first time we got a card of him, like how could he not have gotten a single card in either Masters sets or anything until now. If we never see him again I'm going to cry. He better be in the next Horizons set, imagine if he was the 3rd 2 mana planeswalker 😮
In mtg Duals of the Planeswalkers 2013 I used them as my avatar. Was said to see them die in the following game. Also decently likely using that alt on my chain veil.
These abilities just....don't feel like they mesh well at all. Then again, it's U, it doesn't have to make 100% sense, it just has to hit all the proper utility buttons.
I’m a little disappointed that vronos is dead. I wish he was still alive because he seems awesome an inquisitor ranger from innistrad turned inquisitor ranger artificer lol that’s so cool
So in lore, the tech that "enhances" his capabilities failed him, as he would had sensed Garruk and ignored the shadow. The planeswalker card is disappointing as usual, the third ability is the only one that makes sense. With what his lore is, he should had been Blue/Black. At no time did he do something to protect someone else, he was a hunter, a mercenary for Avacyn. Bouncing things from play? If anything, this lore i'm just now finding out about, says Garruk is the one who destroyed the hellvault. i was sure Nihiri destroyed the Hellvault. And this must be before Sorin "exiled" avacyn.
I started playing MTG in 2007 when I was 9. Duels of the Planeswalkers was my first digital experience of the game where I didn't have to play with my dad (the only other player I knew back then). Vronos became one of my best friends, and I'm so excited he finally has his own card!
That rando that Garruk killed in the Magic 2015 trailer is just now getting a card lol, reminds me of Dack being killed in the War of the Spark trailer
Mtg dev team are such... clowns. Playing off/on since 96, they once said Phasing would never come back, too complicated. So they bring it back heavy... but dont want anything to do with Regeneration still because its "too complicated" for new players 😂😂
then they made the "shield" mechanic which functionally was just as complex. I think it was an excuse to not use the keyword bury(destroy and can't be regenerated like in "Wrath of God").
