Japan looking area.. Chinese may not take it as compliments since Japanese copy this style from China during Tang Dynasty. It likes saying a mother is as beautiful as her baby daughter. It looks weird to me...
@@marcduchamp5512 , don't be stupid, China was the origin of the civilization of the east, just like Greece was the origin of Europe, only China dominated the region in the most of time in history
Marc Duchamp your high school history teacher didn't teach you?the history of asian?oh maybe you didn't graduate from high school. or you May not know your culture only have 200 years history
@Pizza Killer LOL You can ask what the Japanese think, and I see your words just want to laugh. Do you really understand the impact of the Cultural Revolution, or do you think you are just watching some videos?
It is a pity that the Japanese do not even understand their own historical records. We can understand that our culture for thousands of years is so rich. Even if we lose 20% of traditional culture, it is much more than your history, or you I don't know that each of us must learn classical Chinese(文言文). The history of ancient Chinese languages, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Vietnam, etc. is recorded in this language. :D
Too young too simple sometimes naive,这个锅它甩不掉。 这个教训告诉我们,中国从来不缺少极左的势力,中国要一万年慎防极左。 2、得罪了世界仅有的两大强权,被全面封锁,除了非洲国家谁都不和我们玩。 朝鲜越南把美国得罪死,不同意与苏联合并又得罪了苏联。最终的结果被全球所有工业国家完全抵制,等于再次被闭关锁国。 但这不是共产党的错,是保持独立拥有核武需要付出的必须代价。
@Pizza Killer Don't be ridiculous. Plenty of traditional Chinese culture exists in China, nevermind their preservation in non-communist/ overseas Chinese communities. The truth is very simple: how can you claim that China has lost its culture when Chinese culture is everywhere?
If China didn't get invaded by the British and French in the 1800's, there would be so many more historical beautiful "Japan looking" palaces and temples. After the foreign invasions and destructions, the Chinese blamed their traditional culture for their backwardness, as a result they didn't preserve their historical buildings in the 20th century. Whatever "Japan-looking" buildings remain today are just a glimpse of a traditional architecture China used to have everywhere. It is quite sad for the Chinese, and you should understand the Chinese nationalism against foreign meddling of their country.
alanOHALAN Actually, even if many historical sites were ruined during invasions, civil wars&urbanization constructions, there are still a huge number of historical heritages remain today.China is still one of the countries with the largest number of World Heritages.Japan used to be the gateway for western tourists to know about East Asia because of their excellent service industry&culture exporting, which China is really short of today.
Most Chinese places have never been wrapped up and advertised to Westerners. That's why Japan looks so amazing compared to China, but actually China has much more beautiful places than Japan does.
Well if you learn history you will presumably know that Japan's culture is heavily influenced by ancient China especially the Tang dynasty in terms of their architecture, clothing, characters, among others. But to some extent they may remain more original features of them coz China has incorporated variegated cultural elements during then next 1000-year historical evolution.
China has been demonized by the West for 600 years, while Japan was given preferential treatment by the West, so of course everything good about China is left silent. Even Chinese people are nicer and more genuine than Japanese. It is disgusting how we treat Chinese. They are the foundation stone that the builders rejected. Used yet looked at as trash.
@Pizza Killer the problem is the msm in the west would never point the camera to those place. Even though they are popularly known by every Chinese, the msm only interest on the politics stuff about China, but there is so many things other than politics
I stayed in Tom's hostel a little over a year ago, this video made me feel so nostalgic! He drove me around on his scooter with his little white (pregnant haha) dog and showed me around the entire city. Enjoy Yunnan!!
Japan learned almost everything from China in the Tang dynasty, including architectures, clothes, music, food... and even sakura. Sakura originally grows in Yunnan.
@Pizza Killer I respect your opinion. Are you here to enjoy the video? Or trying to PROVE something that is not right in the video according to your mind?
My friend, Japan, the barbaric country of east Asia imported civilization from China in Tang dynasty period. That's WHY Japanese architecture looks like old Chinese architectures.
You and Jordan have such an nice friendship that is enjoyable to watch your interaction together, you get along so well, its a double bonus to watch the two of you in your new travel encounters. Its almost like a good sitcom.
Poppy, I love how open minded you are, and the respect you showing towards different cultures, it just shows what a nice person you are! Always enjoys your video.
Puppy , Cherry Blossom is actually orginated from China to Japan , as well as the building styles are highly influenced by TANG Dynasty China. as well as Kimono and so on . BTW I have heard Shangri La is nearby there . one of the most beautiful places though I never been to YUNNAN
HEY POPPY AND JORDAN, I SO ENJOY WATCHING THE TWO OF YOU PLAY OFF OF EACH OTHER. YOU ARE HAVING SO MUCH FUN AND THE PEOPLE THAT YOU MEET CAN FEEL THE ENJOYMENT IN YOU AND PLAY OFF OF THAT. IT IS SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH. I WILL LOOK INTO YOUR VIDEO THAT YOU MENTIONED.
Hey, it's quite interesting what your doing with your content as in not just filling it with loads of sceneries and visual spectacles but also maxing out on the information about the do's and don'ts for the same. It's really helpful to others to see how you pursue your travel life. Keep up the good work. Cheers
Lol. “Japan looking area”. If she referred to the cherry trees, I think cherry trees were brought from China to Japan originally. Traditional Japanese architecture was strongly influenced (if I refrain from using ‘copy’) by Tang Dynasty architecture. But to be honest, Japan did an awesome job preserving the traditional look of their cities.
Shouldn’t be calling it stealing or copying, our ancestors allowed the ancient Japanese to learn from us and bring our culture to them. I hoped they didn’t forget the history though.
Li Jiang is very close to Shangri-La, which is one of the best places to visit in China's Southwest region as well. Enjoying the video very much! Thank you Poppy!
Looking back on history, China was Japanese teacher over thousands years, Chinese cultures influence Japan in every aspects including how to make porcelain and paper, gunpowder , compass, Food, Nado, Clothing like Kimono, Silk Making, Architecture, Printing, Calligraphy, Musical instrument Shamisen , Garden, Bonsai, Sado, Geta……,EVEN THEIR LANGUAGE KANJI COMES FROM CHINA. China's influence over Japan revolutionized Japanese culture in all fields.
Studying Cantonese gives you access to Japanese and 70% of Vietnamese. Cantonese is the evidence we have that China influenced all of her neighbors on a major scale.
@TonySparkles Are you saying the images of china as shown here aren't beautiful? You're so deeply stuck on shithole impressions from the cultural revolution.
Oops! Missed the opportunity to meet you guys again. Last time was Poppy traveled in New Zealand and I was busy with my assignment so didn’t have time for watching RU-vid videos and this time I got a two-week break holiday for going back to Kunming but didn’t prepare for the VPN until now I’ve been back to NZ again and just realized that you guys were traveling around my home town. 😂
Good job great video. Some comments here I agree because it buildings style is from the Tang Dynasty it’s better that sometimes we learn the facts before putting them into our videos. Other than that, good job!
China is huge. It will take at least one decade to explore every nook and cranny of China. It's geographically more diverse than the second largest country in the world, Canada.
So beautiful! I'll admit I originally pictured China to be smoggy and polluted, and Shanghai and Beijing are definitely crowded. Now after watching all your videos, I definitely need to put my 10-year visa to use and see all these off the beaten path places!
There are a lot of beautiful places in China with amazing history. Try to visit Zhangjiaje, Tianmen Mountain and Fujian Tulou also. I love watching your videos, they’re so cool! Take care on your travels :)
“japan looking area”?no offence but logically, China taught Japan to build gardens and buildings.Although east Asian architectural culture has many similar characteristics, please try not to mention other countries, maybe it is not a big deal in your eyes but it is a really disrespect describe in east asia
@Pizza Killer Do you know what "大化の改新" is? Japan send team to China, for at the same time learn from China's architecture/medical/technical/culture, take a large number of Chinese books a year, Tang dynasty even send monks craftsman to Japan to teach, under the condition of the voluntary to study in Japan, the Mongol invasion of the han nationality area, and the han nationality region has never been an invaded of Japan, read books
@Pizza Killer Ps: Mongolian traditional residential buildings are called yurts, which are round and easy to move due to the need to transfer pasture for grazing. Mongolian people built their capital city in Beijing using traditional architectural techniques of the han nationality, just like europeans who learned from the Roman Columns in Italy could not claim that the Roman Columns were invented by themselves
@Pizza Killer Back to the Beijing Palace Museum, first of all the current Beijing Palace Museum was built in the Ming dynasty, the yuan dynasty palace was burned down by the first emperor of the Ming dynasty, the current Beijing Palace Museum was built on the it, many yuan dynasty foundation is still left below. If you think I'm just bragging about China's construction skills, then I recommend a documentary on the history of the architecture before yuan dynasty(or mongolians)called“daming palace” which is avalable on youtube. Secondly there is tons of buildings before yuan dynasty in China for you to visit
@Pizza Killer The Japanese have not been able to build and increase the roof height, so the interior structure of most Japanese buildings needs to be closed up because the cabin structure is closed up, the Japanese architecture is like your child from the time of the six years of age to stop school to stop school and grow up to today, the building level of the Chinese and Japanese buildings has a gap of about 1000 years, otherwise the Japanese will not take the risk of the wreck to come to China to study, and the following example is for you
You and Jordan make China beautiful !! You 2 are the best thing that happened to China, the way y’all work together is amazing. I hope one day soon you 2 are hired by a network and do travel related 30 minutes shows all over the world. Thank y’all for sharing your professionalism, ciao bellissime
@@WheresPoppy Yes, he is very nice, he has a great talent and a great imagination, it is good that you added it to video, I'm so excited to see the next video :)
*In the past, the pool itself has sometimes been dry, spoiling the famous view. In 2010, however, the park was declared a water conservation area by the local government. As of 2014, the pool stands full of water, its former beauty restored.*
Li Jiang is beautiful they keep the traditional Chinese style of architecture…lots of Artists 👩🎨 live there from western:) People are so kind and very friendly. I like the stairs to the bed🎀
Poppy, you are fresh air with your enthusiasm. I like the way you point out nice places and things. It gives me ideas of where I may go one day for yet another excursion to some interesting corner of China. And hi Jordan!
Hi Poppy! I’ve been watching your videos since I come to the US, this is my First time to leave a comment in your channel. I am going back to Shanghai next week, hope to see you there.
Thanks for the video. The Chinese woman was asking Poppy to look at her eyes when dancing. She was trying to teach Poppy how to dance the local style. However, as Poppy explained, she herself would like to try some freestyle dancing and was not prepared to learn dancing the local style. I guess, due to the language barrier, it was a small misunderstanding. But, no matter, you all had fun during your time in that Cafe. Lastly, i would really like to suggest you to learn some Chinese. It is totally different from English but much easier. PS. i am a Chinese and live in German. I enjoy watching your videos.
Hello Poppy, I just came back from LiJiang, Yun Nan province of China. I encourage you two to explore more over there. There are a lot to see and show to the world. Try to climb the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and visit the LuGu Lake, meet the mysterious MuSu people there, etc.
those places are not hidden at all. They are considered too touristy for the well travelled Chinese, but lovely places nevertheless. If you can speak Chinese and dig deeper into the country, there are way more beautiful hidden places waiting to be discovered. I highly recommend a boutique hotel chain called "Songstam" built by a Tibaten artist and architecturer called Bai Ma. It's not cheap, it's the same price as you would get in Europe but it's totally worth it (around 200-250 euro for full board, which is normal price in Western Europe).
*I would love to see you visit Henan. The Shaolin Temple and Longmen Grottos. It is a province rich in culture and delicacies. especially Luoyang, Zhengzhou, and Kaifeng!*
10:27. I guess he was saying. "This is true flower", but what he actually meant was "This is (a) real flower" or "These flowers are real". In Chinese, the difference between true and real is too subtle. Sometimes people just overlook it and make translation error.
