Assalamualaikum brother. I have an honest question regarding a story about Nabi Muhammad(saw) that I used to read long time ago. The story has what made me love Rasulullah more and what bring me to learn about my religion-Islam even more. But when I started to get more knowledge and a proper way to consume knowledge on islam, I started to remember about this story back. What bothers me is I am not sure where is the sahih source of this story. The story is about when our beloved Nabi Muhammad(saw) soul/life was about to be taken by Izrail on his death bed, Rasulullah asked Izrail that he wanted to take all his beloved people's(ummah) sakaratulmaut(pain of death) as our Rasulullah knew how painful the experience was. As nowadays so many enemies of islam trying to ask complicated questions to muslim, I just wanted to know my legitimate sources before I making any claims or arguments. So, for the sake to strengthen my iman and gain love for this deen, I would like to know where is this story originated from? Is it in Quran or hadith? I believe this is a personal/spiritual experience that our Nabi had as same as his journey meeting Allah in Israq Mikraj, but I do wish to know the actual source for this story. Salam brother. Allah is perfect and He clearly says there will be a judgement day where everyone will get the reward they deserve. If people are punished in the grave then there is no need for judgement day. Also people who die from fire or drowned, how do they get punished in the grave. There is also Hadith that says people will be receiving waiting for 50000 years long days waiting eagerly for the judgement where even the mother will not recognize their children and saying ya nafsi.
