Just recently bought a Koken 2726Z-3/8 (L160) for myself, its a specialty ratchet so its not really an every day use tool. But Tool Truck Charlie my Snap-on guy let me compare a Snap-on FCF72 to it. Both very cool tools but maybe this will help you get an idea which one is suited best for you.

crazy that snapon is the budget option. koken usa markup the price because they know people will still buy them cause they are just so good

Not if you go Amazon Japan... Much cheaper

Yeah koken used to be even MORE cheaper before the new 72t stuff and then koken USA just stuck their dick in it all and the prices are literally higher than snap on now.

I love my old SK flex head 1/4 body 3/8 anvil. So smooth. That koken looks sweet though.

Holding the ratches by the head in the air would be a better test for back drag. The koken's rubber handle was not a fair matchup.

I own both and both are great ratchets. The Koken is unbelievable in blind and extra tight situations.

they made the anvil purposely to break before the teeth get shredded

Koken sockets absolutely for the win. Ratchets, personal choice any brand

I got the one with the anvil with a grove on it. I thought that was weird. Better to buy the 1/4 stubby and do the 3/8 swap.

If I remember correctly why they did that was because too many of these wrenches are breaking. But I don’t know really that’s the first time I’ve seen the anvil machined out thinner like that too? I will tell you thou that both the snap on are not going to take a ton of torque before they let go and need a rebuilt. Here’s why. Notice how the backplate screws down from the anvil side on both snap ons and if you see most of the ratchets made by snap on today the bolts go thru the front to the back and secures the backplate in place. Just look at for example the digital 3/8 torque wrench for instance. That new design of the bolts tightening from the top is a far more superior design versus the kind seen here in your video. So what’s the point of all this ? Why did I mention it? Because the secret hack is too get one of the flex head 1/4 heavy duty ratchets where the bolts go in from the top and then you gut the internals out and drop in the 3/8 anvil using the rebuilt kit then you can really step on that ratchet without it breaking. And the reason I did this was because I wanted to ensure the longerivity of the tool since I converted my extra extra long 1/4 body flex head ratchet soft girl with the 3/8 upgrade so I can have high leverage in tight hard to reach spaces 😃

I just don’t get why I would need a 3/8 head on a 1/4 ratchet. 1/4 drive sockets go up to 9/16”, so I just use the quarter inch drive set

Prices in each. I realize they’re both pricey and people buying these with warranties are buying their preference regardless of price

I think you covered the basics pretty good. I made a similar video about Snap-on vs Koken but I looked at their Roto-head ratchets. Have a look if you want to see that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_VlLwOgYAwQ.htmlsi=GTPRUQhWb_nwLeFF I also did a little demo on the back-drag issue, but I was working with a spark plug on my motorcycle. Same results. Take care.

The Koken has the back of the main gear exposed. That lets me put a finger on it to keep the socket from turning backwards. With that light backdrag one finger is enough.
