He says he doesn’t remember caring about the balondor when he was younger but he knows now because of its heightened significance due to Messi and Ronaldo
Even now who cares actually about it other than Edgy fans? who brag about "X player was better, because he won 3-4 Ballon dors" everyone knows its a shait trophy based on journalists.
@@oscarrosales2015 @flawedgenius Nope & nope, Rodri won 2 trophies & lost 3 games in which he played (Community Shield, FA cup Final & UCL QF against real madrid at ethiad), Vini only lost 1 game in which he played (Copa del Rey against Atletico) and won 3 trophies. Stats for nerds asides, vini is the best player in the world this year, this whole rodri hype for ballon d'or is just city & epl fans in general coping hard trying to cling on the fact that he won the euro lmfao as if he contributed to them winning, he was on the bench when the game actually started in 2nd half + there were 6 other spanish players who were better than rodri at the euro according to sofascore. He didn't even deserve getting euro player of the tournament award, but it is what it is, that's all he's gonna win, this is compensation for Haaland getting robbed last year by Messi winning the ballon d'or (:
Lautaro: - 43 g/a - serie a best player, serie a golden boot, serie a winner - copa america winner, copa america golden boot, copa america 2nd best player, winner in the final - + the italian supercup Why doesn't he have a shout? Pretty much the same resume as Rodri this season in terms of trophies and influence.
cause individual level has to be taken in consideration: - lautaro is among the bests strikers right now. - rodri has reached the highest lvl of football a 6 has ever play.
It doesn’t help that he plays in Italy and got ko in R16. I personally think he should win if we are being consistent with the previous winners. But it’s all about who had the better narrative trough out the season. It’s been like that for decades sadly.
How ‘s Jude winning it considered unacceptable he was better than vini in the league and internationally and he was better than Rodri on the club level so how ‘s it a robbery
rodri has been pretty objectively the best itw for the past year, no one else has been as good in their position as he is in his. that being said, a DM will never win
What are you talking about, when man city played Real Madrid in the ucl, Rodri wasn’t even top 5 player in that tie. He didn’t even take a penalty in the shootout. IPhiil foden was voted best epl player nobody thinks hRodri should have won that trophy. I can make the case he wasn’t the best midfielder on the Spain team.

I genuinely dont get most of you in these comments, if Jude scores he's a tap in merchant, if he plays in the role he played before he came to madrid he's trash or he cant do this or that🤦🏾♂️. Like bro litterally carried Madrid when Vini was out an then went back to his natural play pattern when Vini came back😂. Im mot here saying Rodri isnt a good shout but to just throw Jude out of the race is crazy. Bro has 3 trophies n lost 3 games this whole season, while having 13 assists and 25 goals(all comps) woth 16 MOTM, la liga player of the season. Put some respect on his name
Ballon d'or is really uninteresting but if you think Beckham deserves a ballon d'or you need a long and hard look in the mirror. The most Brexit opinion ever.
Rodri deserves to win it, he’s been unbelievable for the last 2 seasons, scoring title winning goals, making loads of assists, he barely ever loses a game, he’s sensational
The messi slander in this video. He most definitely was the best footballer in the world last year, if we’re just gonna judge it on pure footballing abilities. However, if that were to be the case this year, and not about achievements, then it would be between vini, Rodri and mbappe. Despite a rough season, Mbappe still shines as one of, if not the best footballer around
@mikerotchburns2568 First of all how did you get two likes, you have no clue what your on about, Rodri played one season at Athletico madrid with Partey, the 18/19 Season where he made more appearances and played 700+ minutes more than Partey, and rodri was 22 years old, Partey was 25, Second of all why would that even matter, In 2024 rodri has broken the record for the most games unbeaten set back in 93 so even in your imaginary world where rodri didn't play over 700 mins more how dose that matter
@joseramos-wt9sr 😂 First off, he won the Euros, not just the prem, and secondly, i thought this award was for the best player, not the player with the most trophies. Rodri broke Maldini's unbeaten record this year and has a G/A of 23 from CDM, Carvajal has won a lot but he has been in no way the best player in any of the teams he won it, Rodri is one off and Arguably the best City player and won the player of the tordement for Spain, I didn't hear any of the players pushing Carvajal only rodri for the balondor
Either Vini or Rodri, but Vini deserves it by a landslide, he's much closer to Carvajal than he is to VIni Vini did exceptional and won just as much. Rodri shouldn't have won Euros POTT.
Rodri has to win it. He’s by far the best at doing what he does. Played as well as you can for a DM, many wingers have had better seasons than Vini in the past. Unfortunately attacking players get favoured. Rodri should have been the one against Messi last year not Haaland
Played as well as he can, yet isn’t even top 3 Spanish players at the Euros. Also, why wasn’t he in the UCL midfielder of the year contention if he was that good? Why didn’t he make the UCL team of the year? Why didn’t City fans push him as a City POTY or PL POTY?
Vini is the best at what he does. Best pure winger and dribbler in football. Jude is the best at what he does. He was the best number 10 in the world. Best player in La Liga period. Integral to the success of Madrid and England. Carvajal is the best at what he does. He was the best RB in the world. 1v1 defending. Crossing. Perfect touch. Leadership. Clutch ability.
@@AK-bj6fk no I haven’t watched Mathaus, Kante played a completely different role & busquets didn’t have to be as influential because of the players around him so hard to judge but Rodri stands out at City, most the games they lose are because he isn’t playing
In terms of being decisive, I think Vini Jr. knicks it! Plus he's an attacker, which helps a lot! Won La liga and The Champions League, scoring in the final!
Id give it to Cardvihal. We over hype attackers for ballondor and now we have a shot to give it to someone who dosent shine too much on the field. He an amazing player who makes a big difference on the 2 teams where he plays. The goal in the final and we see how Kyle Walker being responsible for the 2 spain goals how important the position can be
Anyone who says Rodri should win, doesn't know ball. Vini was at his best when it mattered, Rodri was at his worst when it mattered. It's not "who is most influential for their team", it's "which footballer had the best year and performed the best". That's Vinicius. Rodri is only in the conversation because of a Euros were he wasn't even a top 5 player for his team
How can a person who lost 1 game whole season got his worst, and let me remind you that Vini was injured and even CL group stage he wasn't there, Foden even have goals than Vini, is his ending in the season in the CL got him a shout, in Laliga it was Jude, Vini won CL player of the season and Rodri Euros player of the season and Euros have heavy weight than CL, if you think Rodri doesn't deserve it then no one deserves it either.
Was Vini the best player for Madrid or Brazil then for your logic it should be between Foden or Bellingham. Because Foden was City best player and PL player of the season and Jude was Madrid best player and Laliga player of the season. But both was not impressive at the Euros, is international competition year so definitely international performance and trophy will carry heavy weight as Messi uses world cup to win it over Haaland who did everything in football that year but to people Messi has won world cup and has to win it. So why can't Rodri win as Euros best player and no one argues that Rodri is not a good player. He is the best player at his position right now and doesn't have a competitor
No Lewa would be second.Ribery 3rd followed by the 2010 ballon dor which Messi won.Messi is the goat(miles ahead of Cristiano imo, but let's be honest there were other phenomenal players who missed out that year. Then followed by Ronaldo 2018.
No, the biggest upset is Haaland scoring 53 goals winning the treble, and Messi winning it whilst playing for Inter Miami how do you score 53 goals in a treble season and not win it that's crazyy
Henry is the most overrated player in the world. Raul was way better, he was leading his team to multiple Champions Leagues & he never won it, Henry was never the best player in the world at any point.

They won La Liga with their highest ever points total and won the CL whilst everyone kept counting them out and they did it with one of the most injury filled squads I've ever seen. If it's just "goals and assists!!" just give it to Haaland every year
It's Rodri. Should have been him last year and still is a year later. There is no one who has performed and achieved at his level over the last 3 years on the bounce.
i think it’s only between Rodri or Vini, Rodri has been better in my opinion i can’t remember him playing badly once and i watched most city games, vini went missing in a few games but if madrid win u wouldn’t realise, if city don’t win it’s normally cus rodri had a bad game or wasn’t playing

There’s only one right answer…. Vini was injured for the first half of the season didn’t do anything besides the last few games in the CL and didn’t do it for his country. Jude had a great start to his season and was on track to win the ballon dor. But the second half of the season he just became average and then was rubbish for England. And Carvajal wasn’t even in the team of tournament for the euros. And wasn’t even the best RB in his league the girona guy was the best.
Because of Euros Foden has got criticized and not mentioned but truth to be told he had a better performance than both Vini and Bellingham for club side, Vini got injured miss most games from the start for almost 3 months, Jude who was there from the start didn't end well, but Foden from super cup, club world cup, CL and PL he was City best player from the start along side with Rodri. CL group stage I remember when City was 2 nil down against Leipzig it was Foden that won City the game, his goal against Madrid he was soo good but after CL exit then the hype around him started coming down and I felt soo bad how he got treated at the Euros if not and he had a good performance I think it could have changed this a little but I will still be happy to see him at top 5 and I know he is a good player so he has more chances ahead.
As a Spanish Madridista, this is who should win it. 1) Rodri 2) Very close second, Vinicius 3) Bellingham/Carvajal. If you think having Carvajal in this list is a joke, you either don't know football or you haven't actually seen Carvajal play
You're not a madridista, what are you waffling about? Real Madrid lost only 2 games, Rodri was shit compared to Vini, Bellingham, Valverde, Tchouameni, Rudiger & even Carvajal this season. The fact that he says that's mental when Carvajal's name came up is the reason why ballon d'or is shit and he doesn't even know it himself. But don't say anything when other names come up
There's only one obvious answer and it's Rodri. It would be a daylight robbery if anyone else manages to win it. The only player that played great consistently, across all competitions. People suggesting other names are either biased, uninformed or simply idiotic.
Hi! I guess I'm either biased, uninformed or simply idiotic according to you. If anyone must win it from the spanish side then non deserves it more than Carvajal. Rodri wasn't even the best player in that Spanish side.
@@footballcheck7308 To start off I actually agree Rodri wasn't the best player on the Spanish side, I think it was clearly Fabian Ruiz. I'm most definitely NOT of the opinion that someone from the Spainish team should necessarily win. However an international tournament is obviously (together with champions league) the biggest stage to show your qualities. On the international tournaments Rodri comfortably performed better than all of his main contenders (Jude, Vinicius). As for Carvajal, I think it's to simplistic and actually unfair to give him the ballon d'or because he won the UCL and the Euros. I think influence on winning the trophies is highly relevant. He wasn't nearly as important to his club and his national team as Rodri has been. I think I can quite easily back this up by looking at his team's performances in games when he didn't play. Carvajal missed 16 official games last season. In these games his team only lost once. If you compare this to Rodri. He missed 10 official games last season and his team lost 4 times. This shows his influence on his team's performances, which is really what being a player is all about; making your team play better. I would say this as an argument against Vinicius and Jude aswell. Nobody is as vital to a top tier team as Rodri is..... Then there is the other main point that I brought up in my original comment. The consistency across the entire season. First of all, Vinicius was literally out injured for 2-3 months of this season. I know that's not his fault, but that obviously plays a part aswell. Not to mention, he dropped an absolutely disasterclass at the Copa America. Where he only played one good game and absolutely awfull besides that. As for Jude, he underperformed in the UCL KO stage and in my opinion also had disappointing overall performances for England (besides some big moments). The fact he was never even in contention for being in the TEAM of the tournament, while Rodri won PLAYER of the tournament.. speaks volumes. Rodri has not been poor for any part of the season. He was one of the best player in the premier league. I think this is backed by him being in the team of the season and most people being shocked he wasn't atleast nominated for player of the season. As stated before, he was great at the Euros. If not the best, definitely top 5 performers at the entire tournament. In the ucl, he was actually good to from an individual point of view. He is the highest rated player of the entire ucl last season. On top of that, he was the best player on the pitch over the two legs against Madrid (when City got knocked out). To add to all of that. Rodri has 27 G/A as a defensive midfielder last season across all competitions. He was like "Gundogan is gone? No problem, let me just add that to my game aswell." Just casually doing three players' jobs compared to the treble season before (considering Stones, who played next to him before, was injured aswell).
@@Jordy4610 Saying Carvajal isn't influential just using numbers is just funny to me. Maybe you haven't really watched him. Trying to make a case with for Rodri using some intangibles and stats like "his team lost 4 when he didn't play" since when did we start using that as a criteria. Even tho I'm not arguing for Vini here I think Vini has been more crucial for Real wining the double than Rodri has been for ManCity this season, but that's a silly argument. You could do that with any player, like Jude had to play in a team w/out a striker bla bla. I could talk about Carvajal scoring crucial goals for Real in La liga and UCL final etc. I just find it funny that a 7 game tournament all of a sudden is worth more than a whole season. Just like how I thought it was silly and unfair to give it to messi after all Haaland did. Hey I guess that's why I think the Balon D'or after the 2 aliens is gonna be fun.

When Zubimendi started, they won. When he played the entire 2nd half against England. He played great a they my won. Cause who stepped up when Vini was hurt, not only Vini but also Courtois, Militao, and Alaba. Right after we lost Benzema. It was Jude. Scoring game winner after game winner. Goal after assist. Was La Liga’a best player. And the sole reason why England made the Euro Final to begin with and was the only one who showed any fight in the Final. Foden was objectively the best player for Man City in both the prem and CL. People will be quick to point out Haaland for “ghosting” in the CL but what did Rodri do? He couldn’t break Madrid’s low block or even get a shot off. KDB and Doku come in and immediately make an instant impact. Rodri is predictable af. Where’s on the flip side Jude and Vini can literally only see 10% of the ball and make magic happen. That’s the rendition of ballon dor for me. Magic. Clutch moments. And consistency. Rodri may have the edge on consistency but he doesn’t have the other two.
It has to be someone who plays for Madrid because they’re the best team in the world by far. Do you give it to Jude who was horrible in the Euros but amazing for club especially the first half. Or Carvajal who won damn near everything and contributed, Rodri who feels so undeserving this year and maybe should’ve won it last year, or Vini who’s by far the most deserving and is the best player in the world but was injured for half the season. I think you have to give it to the best player in the world and that’s Vini. Now does this mean Vini is gonna win 10 consecutive Ballon d’Ors off the fact that nobody is near him in terms of skills and accomplishments? Maybe, but someone has to prove their worth to even merit a shout against him and right now? Nobody does.
sijnaider xavi iniesta gerrard lampard kross benzem and lewandoski all of this legends were robbed next one to be robbed is rodri. I bet they will give it to messi even if he is not in the list
Who robbed Gerrard and Lampard ffs. Ribery was robbed in 2013 when fifa extended the deadline to make sure ronaldo won it. Doesn’t suit your agenda does it
Madrid Beat City, Madrid won UCL. Spain won Euros, but England made the final and it was tight. Vinicius didn’t even make the Copa Final. It’s between Rodri and Bellingham realistically. I think Bellingham had the best year overall.
@@jesuscruz7033 Im talking abou outside of the Ronaldo Messi era. Rivaldo won it over Beckham in 99. "Gavi" won the goldenboy over Musiala. The rankings this season has players like "Guler and Endrick" who shouldn't even be in the top 10. But hey twist words because you started watching football this decade.
@@tevildo45 yes he was. he was one of if not the most important player in winning THE historic treble. rivaldo just won the copa and league. you have no idea what you're talking about 🤣
* 4 Player of the Tournament as DM * CL Goal of the tournament and winner * Treble * 1 Loss in 86 games and counting since February 2023 playing as a DM for club and country in every competition
