I have to say this is one of the better "Bob and Elisa" fan views. As someone who has joked Eliza is awful, I've never really thought so. Just two flawed people who ended up in a bad place that they can't move on from. Realistic, sad, and fairly common.
Eliza has gotten it in her head that she needs to be the perfect little housewife, but she's not meant to be a housewife. She's meant to be the boss at work that everyone hates cause she's s b**h, but everyone also respects her because she gets s**t done, i think she knows she's bi in this continuity and is ashamed of it, and she's making herself miserable and is taking it out on bob, I honestly think their son is the only reason why they haven't divorced, I think they both care about their son and want him to have a semi normal childhood
I'd like to think that bob went to cullinary school and eliza went to... idk like business management or something like that. she also gives me used-to-be-a-horse-girl so maybe animal husbandry in a specialty school. when you're in hs it's easier to do things because your parents are on your back so bob's slob-ness wasn't as apparent. in college living alone your worst traits come out :' ). the long distance and time away from each other triggered their differences to become more noticeable. it just spiraled from there. its neither's fault tho
In my head pancakes didn't make sense because they are young adults, married unhappily, live in a huge house and have a toddler. So I made them the couple who got pregnant in hs and are now stuck together, and Elisa's grand plans of money and career success went down the drain as she is from a conservative family where she is expected to be a stay-at-home mom. Of course the man's role of being a breadwinner landed on Bob who just wanted to be young and dumb in peace, and he has to provide for the fam by working in a fast fod restaurant (and maybe trying to get a culinary degree to get to a better restaurant). They live in an basement "apartment" under Elisa's parents' home, and Eliza dreams of Bob earning more money to get them their own home, Bob proposing to her, Bob giving her a daughter that she can live her failed dreams through.
In my game, I decided Bob was gay -- he came out, moved out and got his own place. Eliza is raising Iggy alone. Iggy is probably the most stable of the three, but everyone seems happier now.
@@AstronomicalJelly Actually, I didn't have a good lot open, and large enough, where Iggy could move in with his Dad. Bob ended up moving into a literal trailer. i didn't break up the family, The Sims 4 did! 🙂One thing I will never stop growling at The Sims 4 over is how *small* the so-called "worlds" are -- you're lucky if you start with four empty lots in a new "world". Worlds? They're not even neighborhoods! Be well!
I always thought that what ruined the Pancakes' marriage was the death of a child. Bob moved into the child's old bedroom which didn't help with his mental health and Eliza coped by renovating the house.
I don't even think they had Iggy to save the relationship. I always felt like Iggy was a "happy" accident that only keeps Bob and Eliza together because now they have a kid. Eliza knows she can't take care of Iggy by herself, and Bob, despite loving Iggy, probably wants to be the Good Dad (Bob 100% had a single mom and - in my mind - has siblings) that he never had. Probably thinks that Eliza would actually try to take all his money and he can't take proper care of his son if he's busy taking care of Eliza's wants and "needs", Iggy's wants and needs, and battle homelessness/over priced apartment that is a literal shit hole. EA created the updated family. If you want him in your game you have to add him from the gallery. I never have, because I think them having a kid doesn't make sense and is a terrible idea
My main issue with how the community approaches their relationship is that it tends to be that people infantilize Bob & make Eliza the problem which feels a little misogynistic to me. Like, Bob knew who she was when he married her, just like she knew who he was when she married him. There's no way Eliza is just a neurotic nag who never lets him be. He's also a gloomy, loner slob. They both have character flaws & they both need to do some inner work before their relationship can ever be repaired.
My husband and I are the complete opposite and been together for 11 years strong. Opposites do attracts but I find it's rare, but when it works it works.

this is how i feel, though with a much less period of time. we've been together for almost 2 years and are very different, but we have the same values and are both committed to the relationship and one another. he loves learning about philosophy, homesteading & farming, and construction, whereas i'm into books & comics, music and movies. it's also wonderful being able to share bits & pieces of our interests with one another and get excited when the other is excited about their interest just for the sake of it. not to mention he's quite stoic and i'm chatty and energetic! it's just such a beautiful thing, to feel like the opposites fit together like puzzle pieces and create a whole thing.❤️
My headcanon is that their marital problems began when they bought the house to try and renovate it. Eliza pushing for expensive stuff while Bob can barely keep up with the bills.

In one of my saves, I had a new move-in couple become neighbors and subsequently best friends with Eliza and Bob after both couples had had a kid of their own. Between my sim's wife being a wine lover and total snooty gossip and her cookie-cutter husband hitting it off with Bob, their kids got along GREAT and it all together sort of saved their relationship since they had more 'alone time' with very like people instead of constantly butting heads with their personalities. Iirc, the wives had a cute little "book club" together too. I wish Sims 4 was more open like TS3 so I could have been playing in more open houses at the same time, but it is what it is.
I've never played any of the pre-made households because I like to do my own thing, but now I kind of want to try this family just to see how it goes. And maybe try to play with autonomy on to see what wrenches that throws into the works. I've never actually had Sims get divorced before.
This is VERY close to my head cannon. My take: high school sweethearts, Bob was a football star, Eliza was a studious popular girl. In college, Bob got drafted into Profootball. He and Eliza married and bought their house. Before Bob got to play the pros, he blew out his knee. That explains the gym equipment in the house i's part of the physical therapy and cooking was part of his mental therapy. I mean, his dream of playing pro football was shattered along with is knee. While being a chef is his aspiration now, it is a long distant second but it is something. He is going his best to live up to his promises to Eliza on how their lives would be, but he is now a shadow of the young man who had a promising career ahead of him. Disillusioned by life and circumstance, he still loves Eliza but it is hard when every moment feels like you are crawling up hill by your nails. Eliza loves Bob, always have. He promised her the moon and stars, allowing her a life where she could follow her passions and hobbies while living in a higher tax bracket than her modest middle class up bringing. Her day dreams were of being Mrs. Bob Pancakes, living in a large house surrounded by enough children to have their own soccer team. There was no hesitation when Bob asked her to marry in college, he was drafted into the pros, his and Eliza's dreams are coming true. They bought Eliza's dream house, filled with love and hope and the promises of teenage dreams fulfilled. She decorated it with abandon, Bob encouraging her to bring her vision to life, indulging her since his career was about to take off. Then Bob blew out his knee. Everyday, Eliza was by his side, that is what you do when you love someone. Slowly, as Bob's recovery dragged on and it became apparent that his football career was over before it ever had a chance to start, the light in his eye and zest for life began to fade. Still she held on, the house and it's adornments and even the pitter patter of little feet put on a shelf as Eliza did her best the help Bob recover physically and mentally. She didn't guilt him when he needed to start sleeping in another bed as he healed, but he never came back to their marital bed. Gradually, her dreams began to get shrouded in dust as the years ticked by and her and Bob settled into a routine. That is the gist of it. Two flawed people that love each other trying to make their marriage work on the ashes of burnt dreams.
I had one game where they became happy. By changing drastically. I allowed Eliza to get a job, mostly because she did prepare for divorce, with that some of her tense moods got better. But Bob's slob trait still was a big problem. So, it was Valentine's Day, and to get the satisfaction points I decided Bob would try to be romantic for once. And it worked, their relationship got better. Now I made him start cleaning, really forced him to, and after a few days I was asked if I want to replace the slob trait, and clicked YES. After that Bob quit his job, saving money on nanny and maid, and bam they became a really happy couple. I also gave them a daughter with high maintenance trait cause having her first years in a toxic household was probably not that helpful. She struggles, but Bob meditates with both of them and that helps lol

personally think they are two ppl that got into a relationship and everything went so fast that they just fell out of love. They take out their frustrations on each other and tried hard to make it work bc they got married but it’s no one’s/both faults

I am not usually a person who watches build videos, I love yours. I actually do watch your builds while listening to you rant and it makes me want to build better. BTW, my current middle age Bob and Eliza have three kids (including teen Izzy who I added from the gallery). Eliza also has an affair baby Bob has raised. Its clear they are together in my game JUST for the four kids. 😂😂

The actual story is more screwed up. So bob wanted to be a famous football and was an all star in high school he got a knee injury once he went pro and that career ended ! Eliza was the hs sweetheart that knew her bf was gonna be big and stuck along to the ride .

A few years ago EA released an updated Pancakes family onto the gallery, showing that they now had a toddler. You have to get them from the gallery if you want him in your game

I think maybe they were the couple that were “opposites attracted” but then in the long term since they appreciated the differences, they didn’t try to develop common ground, and therefore grew apart even more. And maybe they’re still attracted to each other and love each other, but basically live separate lives in the same house so they are also getting in each other’s way.
