Totally unrelated to this video but while watching this video I just got a call from the hospital they found a kidney for me!!! Holy crap! I just had to say something to someone! So excited!!
“Do you like me with straight hair or curly hair?” I loved that loose french braid from the beginning of the video. Anybody else think she should do more of that?
Dyson converted their factory in the UK 🇬🇧 and is making ventilators for the hospitals ❤️ any company stepping up at this moment in time is being etched in my mind!!! I will support Dyson in the future. Do not feel bad for supporting a luxury company that is doing their part in helping save lives, you have the means to afford it. Thanks for making videos, you help brighten my day. Right now any happy moments mean the world 🗺
Dyson moved its head office to Singapore in 2019, and manufacturing is done in Malaysia for some time already. I don’t think there is any Dyson manufacturing currently done in UK even though some of the design is done in UK. Also, these ventilators they are supposedly making have not got Public Health England approval and thus cannot be used whereas smaller manufacturers without links to the Conservative party who are already producing appropriate ventilators have not been asked by the UK government. Dyson also supported the Brexit campaign and while it is stated that his move to Singapore has nothing to do with Brexit it is still questionable as the economic impact is going to be quite something. And yes, I do have Dyson products (airwrap and vacuum and cooling tower) and like them but I do struggle in light of their political associations because I was forced to apply to continue living at my own home in London. So I personally am torn. Just thought it worth adding another perspective although I liked Tati’s review and each person will make their own decisions based on the facts that they take on. Fortunately or unfortunately my hair is so straight that straightening is unnecessary. Curling, now that is another matter entirely. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
My horrible flat iron story is sitting on it and burning a V into my arse. Somewhat luckily it was my initial so that did make me chuckle that it could have been worse
Hold up... so u mean to tell me you went into a salon. Told the women u wanted a Olsen twin bob. And then she sits u down and starts bleaching your hair and you didn’t say anything?!
As an ex hairdresser, I've definitely witnessed consultations where communication between a client and hairdresser sucks and they don't stop or clarify their requests. I've seen someone come in with a photo of auburn hair, talking about the cut, walking out with a colour and no cut and say NOTHING
why does this look like it was filmed in 2014 like i literally paused the video and checked the date, i mean she looks cute as always But it kind of looks like her in the old days
😂😂 yea, leave the review to women with curly, kinky hair. Because her hair IS straight...there is no curl or unruliness at all to it. A $25 target flat iron could work for her no problem.
I'm the same and not that I'm complaining but it's very frustrating cause I can never curl my hair .... no matter what I do it will never curl and even if it did the curls will just hold for 5 minutes at best
Straightening her already straight hair. I couldn’t see a difference. And those with curly or wavy hair, need much more than 30 mins. Wouldn’t spend $500 on this. I have my $30 straighter that has lasted me 5 years and still going strong
I have a $15 curling iron and it works pretty well I don’t know why you would spend hundreds of dollars on a flat iron or straightener sure the cords is kind of a mess but for me it’s worth it
Conair straightener for the win! And I have wickedly curly hair. Like in the dry prairies my hair will not stay straight after straightening no matter what tools are used.
Who else was low key panicking when she was brushing her hair and it looked like it was gonna catch on her hoops??😂😂 no? Just me?... okay lol I was stressing
it literally takes HOURS to straighten my hair and it usually doesn’t even turn out that straight i would need WAY MORE than just 30 minutes of battery life
Check out brad mondo's video on this iron. He has a lot of good info on how well it worked on 4b/c hair, and how the battery lasted longer than they said.
As someone who has actually academically studied the engineering of electrical tools like this, here's some thought on the tech without having done any Dyson-specific research: The weight of the device is not necessarily a deliberate choice. I'm sure Dyson did their best to minimize the weight of this product. But batteries are HEAVY, and they need some BEEFY batteries to power a heating implement for any length of time. It's not like Dyson was like "Hey you know what people need? Stronger shoulders." On the topic of temperature monitoring 100x/s... Firstly, as far as refresh rates/data collection rates are concerned, that's not even super fast for a simple process. Secondly: To heat quickly, more energy is used than needed to maintain the heat, so energy usage needs to be actively regulated during intial warmup. Also, as you use the iron it will cool as heat goes into hair/air/moisture/whatever. To keep every part of the iron the same temperature during each whole pass, this requires frequent updates. ALSO, heating implements sometimes "fail hot" and it can happen very fast. So it is maybe a safety feature as well. General comments on price: powerful AND long lasting batteries, human-safe heating elements, and powerful motors are all relatively costly parts, especially if you need them to be long-lasting since they cannot be easily replaced (such as in compact consumer products like Dyson's straightener, dryer, etc). It would be wrong to assume it's all branding and markup. Any additions/critiques of these thoughts?
THANK YOU - like dah the weight is obviously the battery, why does she have to film these reviews so fast before engaging her brain and common sense and reading more?!? She doesn't have to be first, her audience would prefer if she wasn't a moron.
@@sarahwithstars sorry, but that's really harsh. I don't think anyone is saying that Dyson does not have these cool new technologies. No one is saying that these technologies are not expensive and that Dyson doesn't work hard on it's products. But what everyone is conflicted about it whether these things are actually even NEEDED in flat irons or not! And that's exactly what Tati's saying. Like, yes, it's expensive and it's for a good reason, but is that even needed?
Oh! As an edit: I really like Tatis honest consumer opinion. Sometimes when designing a product we get lost in "can?" and lose track of "should?". It just sounded like she had some questions about design choices and I like to speculate answers! I'm sure we will continue to hear more about this product from her and others so that future generations of this technology address common issues like weight and cost. The Model T of this tech hasn't happened yet but maybe it will!
"I put my hair in a braid so it would have waves." *takes out braid *hair is straight 😂 😂 😂 Looks cool, but definitely not for my hair texture. I need more than 30 min for sure
When my hair was down to my waist, definitely took more than 30 minutes for my thick, wavy, textured hair. Can't imagine why my hair was usually in a bun till I cut it.
I just bought this and I was blew away. My girls have curly hair very thick her hair was bone straight in one pass. My hair tools ones from 20years ago were £180 they lasted me 18years so I was due a pair. Hope these last just as long and don’t end up in the dyson hospital lol
@@unSTOPPABLExFLAME I have the Dyson cordless in pink got it for about £250 in Scotland, it's amazing! We have really thick carpets so need to use it on max mode and off a full charge you only get about 20 mins on max. On normal mode you get about 40 mins which is good for thin carpets or floors 😄
@@unSTOPPABLExFLAME I have one of their lower models which is only around 250$ when on sale and its pretty worth it!! Not sure about those 800$ ones tho LOL
It still amazes me how people don’t understand that you can literally curl your hair with any flat iron in the world. A ten dollar flat iron can curl your hair. You can also do beach waves/crimp it with any flat iron. I think I’d wait for the next release of their flat iron. That one is as bulky as a brick. I’d be money that the next release will be thinner and hold a charge way longer. 30 minutes is wack. You definitely couldn’t use that in a salon.
same. I always try to go for the second or third generation of a brands product. they always improve on the tech and design, especially with hair products like this. I'm confident Dyson will only improve on this given the current issues on this model.
I know it seems so obvious that you could curl your hair with a flat iron. I don't even remember the last time I used a curling warn because I just use my flat iron.
My hair dresser told me that my flat iron actually can’t make curls the way hers can because the plates are rounded on the sides if you know what I mean. Don’t know how to explain it haha I tried doing curls with mine and I thought I must be stupid cause it didn’t worked but she and her co workers confirmed that it just doesn’t work with every flat iron
I didn’t understand the point. Your hair was already straight and you were straightening it. Would’ve been helpful to see it after your hair was curly or something
People with straight hair want to know how well straighteners work too. They don't just crush curls into straight hair, they get rid of flyaway hairs and make hair look smooth and shiny. I want to see that as someone with straight hair. But I agree it also would've been good if she curled it and then straightened it or something, just to also see it's ability to curl and then flatten again.
My hair is straight/wavy and this video shows me how the Dyson would work for my hair type so is helpful. I’m sure somebody with curlier hair has reviewed this product!
I’d say a better way to see how far it will take you is with someone who has hair with some texture on it and they flat iron their hair at least once a week, and have it down to a science. Skill is just as importantly the tool, and I feel like Dyson hair appliances are definitely more geared towards people who do their hair every time they wash it rather than people who just do it occasionally because they always have time saving as a selling point.
I feel like people are judging tati pretty harshly for straightening her straight hair. I can see a lot of difference from her u straightend to her straighted hair, because my hair is the same way as her. It is just about how the hair falls and the look of the hair afterwards. Granted it is not a chocking amount of difference, but it does make the hair look more sleek. I am not saying the straightner is worth the money, just saying people are being a bit too pissy imo
I agree. I have stick straight hair and use a flat iron all the time to give volume at the top, tame flyaways, and blend layers together. It just looks more pulled together.
@@Narconia because everyone gets flyaway hairs/bits that just won't be tamed no matter how you squish it. Also straightening straight hair makes it look smoother and shinier.
Right! I love my Dyson vacuum. $500 is way too steep for me, but I support their vacuums. When mine dies I’ll buy another, I won’t go with any other brand!
YvesSaintAngela right. They're actually life changing when you have 4 dogs that shed all the time. But for a hair straightener...? It's literally more than *twice* the price of majority high end flat irons.
Exactly, you must have a lot of money on your hands if you're willing to pay $500 for a flat iron. Mine was like $80 back in the day and it still works like a charm. Remington for the win.
4 years ago i spent $20 for a reminington flat iron for a 2nd flat iron to bring with me on vacations. it's finally died and I'm struggling to find a good flat iron to replace it
Ugh can we take a moment to look at how beautiful her make up is especially her eyes. She always has the most beautiful make up looks…totally fangirling ...
@@amandachristina7328 lol I know how you feel. Even after I blow dry mine it's still poofy lol I have to run a straightener through it multiple times just so it would look that straight lol
Bailey Sadler that I did extensive research for months within my area to find a place that was affordable and fit my budget? Yeah, it is nice to reap the benefits off of my work
stacey rios the temperature consistency and control is better than a normal flat iron. You can take much larger sections with the dyson because of the flexible plates.
Why do people keep making this comment? People with straight hair still have to flat iron their hair. My bf claimed he couldn't tell a difference until I sent side-by-side photos to him. One was straight hair, but curled up at the ends, and very puffy looking. The other was bone straight and very sleek.
@@carol127v No most of the people havw some frizz, and there are people that are wash hair 3times per week. Or 2. Most of the people with straight hair do not have perfect straight hair they want.
My bad hair straightener experience is my own fault, I used to do my hair naked. Hear me out..to get ready I would take a shower, do my make up, do my hair, AND THEN get dressed. Well one day I was straightening my hair, I lost my hold of it, and THE IRON BRUSHED AGAINST MY NIPPLE. That’s right, I burned my nipple. This was 6 years ago and I still have the scar. Lesson learned.
I'm the same way. One day I was curling my hair with one of those bubble wands, it slipped out of my hand, and for some reason I tried to catch it, caught it between my left arm and breast. Had 3 burns on my boob (one being on my areola) and one on my arm. Still have the scars. 😩😬
This product was made for people with more money than average people, not even my T3 cost this much and it's wonderful. What a waste of money, unless it comes with a stylist to do my hair for me daily it's a no from me.
Southern Beauty The only benefit I could see is it being cordless. I could see hair stylists loving that feature... but it’s nothing to write home about
@@TheItGirlQ it’s not premium for brands your paying premium for a premium product. just like buying an apple iphone. if you don’t got the money for it and you don’t care abt the little things then don’t get it. but it’s better in almost every aspect than other irons
The fact that your hair was already straight when u started and it didn't look much different after you used the 500 dollar straightener proves that it's not worth it.
Ashley Gomes irk this wasn’t thought through lol i have frizzy hair and it gets so curly after it dries naturally. My ghd’s even struggle. I have to do 2 or 3 passes. Her hair is already perfect so cant see how good it is! If she curled it lol and then it worked super easy i would be impressed
Ashley Gomes sorry to say but uhm it’s TOTALLY worth the money! It is pricey but it’s also QUALITY. And if you did not see a difference in her hair you don’t need a hair straightener but glasses 🤓
coen849 no one said it didn’t look different. Just not 500 dollars different... many straightners would do this to her hair plus it helps she started with hair that’s in excellent condition....not that it’s her fault or anything. But I would be more interested to see this on someone who has frizzy hair or even better, curly hair. Someone who has the opposite of straight or mostly straight hair. Then we can see what this thing can really do.
I actually thought the same thing , probably would have made sure they were in properly before videoing 🥰 but I think her hair is beautiful anyways ❤️❤️
This new setup makes me feel a little nostalgic, like when I was watching Tati back in the day. 💕💕💕 The quality of the video is still perfect but it makes me think of RU-vid before it got too glamorous 😌
I believe it's heavy, because of the battery. To achieve that heat for 30 min it does need lot of battery (chemical substance thingy) to store the electricity
My air dries looking like I straightened it. A hairstylist 5old me once that if you have layers it's good to use one to blend them. The only reason I have a flat iron because I can actually curl my hair faster with it than with a curling iron or wand.
My hair gets really wavy and kinky and actually looks really unkempt if I don’t straighten it but my hairs really fine so even if I lay on it funny it’ll get dents in it lol! Even though my hairs “straight” I’ve still gotta straighten it out lol
I have really fine hair but a lot of it so sometimes the flyaways get out of control or it gets really crinkly from having clips in it or laying on it. I use a flat iron to get it back under control
The only way I would be interested in that thing is if it’s given to me lol. The price is absurd. It’s just a flat iron. I could’ve done that with my $30 Remington. It’s not cordless but it has a long cord and it swivels. You can curl with any flat iron. The reason it’s not problematic in the ways you described is because it’s brand new. If you’ve got the money and you want to treat yourself...have at it but really...I couldn’t part with that much money to straighten my hair.
Nicole Tambasco I agree you can straighten your hair with something cheaper. However the damage is less with a more expensive flat iron like a paul mitchel. Nonetheless, they all cause damage, just at different rates. Just from experience 🤦🏼♀️
Tati you should watch Brad Mondos hair straightening tutorial. You don't need to pass the flat iron more than once. Just do it slower, less heat on your hair
.... on the she dyed my hair blond when i just wanted a cut... im confused as to how that happened. could you not tell she was dying your hair or was you to shy and being to polite to say anything lol.
Idk I definitely let stylists do things I didn’t ask for a few times when I was young and nervous that I didn’t know what I wanted. I just see how she could have seen that they were starting to bleach her hair and not say anything.
I have extremely thick long and wavy hair and it never takes me more than 15 minutes, I literally cannot understand how it would ever take anyone more than half and hour and I’m a hairdresser too so I’ve seen every hair type going!!
Dude you can make your hair straight with the product and tech these days. Hair is like a canvas curly or straight it can be shaped beautifully if done right. Curly hair has great potential. Some people would kill to have curly hair
I have super straight hair, but I use a flat iron after washing and drying because I have tons of a hair and all the short pieces frizz out. I have to use a flat iron to get all these little pieces to lay down nicely.
I was thinking the same, but maybe she was too embarrassed to say something or the hairdresser already mixed the bleach. I wouldn't say anything either at that point :(
When I got my hair done my bf was waiting for me and watching and he was like wtf you bleached your hair? And I was like yeah what else would the foils be for? And he was like idk I thought it was a fancy way to cut hair. Some people are just naive 😂
I was literally so confused about that. If you ask for a hair cut and the person reaches for anything other than scissors, wouldn't you pause and say something? Maybe that's just me.
Can’t say I enjoyed this review! Sorry Tati! Your hair was straight to begin with! Would have been nicer to see you with bed hair and then straighten it, or just a full head of curls with the iron!
My horrifying experience with a flat iron.... I was getting ready for school one morning and I used to use my Hot Tools iron on 425... I am dumb for that I know. Well the cord would always hang down and catch knobs on the drawers in my bathroom. That happened as I was pulling the straightener up to use it. It started to fall and while I was half asleep I reflexively went to catch it.... I did... right on a 425 degree hot plate. It took a week for the blisters to form because I burnt my hand so bad. I relate Tati lol
Mine always catches on my bathroom cabinet knobs too. Never dropped it yet but if I do, I'll try to remember not to catch it lol. Thanks for the warning!
Ok honestly, as a woman with textured ridiculously thick hair, I find it amazing that anyone can straighten their hair in 30 minutes or less. If I even bother to straighten my hair it takes an hour or more.
Shay yes, she’s been there for about 6 weeks. She got caught there when the things about the virus exploded. That’s why she’s not in her normal beauty room.
I’m definitely willing to drop money on tools and makeup but I can’t imagine dropping $500 on a straightener! My little chi from tjmaxx is still hanging in there lol. Tati thank you for giving us content in these weird times. It’s so nice to have you as a normal part of my day.
My uncle is a high-end hairstylist, and he gave me a professional-grade Chi when I was younger. Even with one of the best flat-irons on the market, it takes over 3 hours to straighten my hair
I’m really envious of your hair, Tati. I’ve been really really sick for about 10 years now. Because of my illness and the medication/treatment I’ve been on, a lot of my hair has fallen out. It’s gotten so thin and sparse, and my hairline has receded alarmingly. I’m choking up a bit typing this, because I really miss my thick, long beautiful dark hair. Love what you’ve got, Tati- I would love to have hair like yours ☹️
I would need to see this done on someone with really kinky or typed curled hair. Otherwise no flat iron is worth $500. Even if it is cordless. And purple.
Tony Wesley it was pretty meh and he didn’t think it was worth the money unless you were a professional stylist. It left some weird kinks in the hair and it had to be turned all the way up to get a result even close to decent. It certainly wasn’t bad, and it did work, but not any better than a $50 flat iron from the drug store.
@@alexzandraenger613 I could certainly understand that. I've been a stylist or 27 years. And I've used $10 flat irons and I've used $100 flat irons and have not noticed a major difference to be honest with you. Heat is heat. Of course some to get a lot hotter then others but it's all and just how many times you have to go over the hair
Best way to see if it’s worth the money...using heat protectant before styling...do one side with your normal flat iron and the other side with the Dyson for a month straight...see how much damage is done comparing both sides!
tiffany adams My husband bought me the dyson blowdryer this past Christmas, it’s hard telling if I notice much of a difference in the dry time but the wire on my Moroccan Oil blowdryer was striped after having it for three years so I really have not seen much of a difference and I don’t take the time to round brush my hair!
I'm the actual same with being bored while doing my hair. I can spend over an hour on a make-up look, but when it gets to hair, loner than 15 minutes has never happened to me. When people ask me to do their makeup, they automatically assume I also like doing hair, which is kind of annoying
Estela Martinez my hair is ridiculously curly and thick. I also have so much hair and it’s heat resistant. It takes stylist at salons just as much time.
Honestly, with my natural curly hair, I take up to 2 hours to straighten it sometimes 😒 so I’ve given up comply on straightening. I will just put my hair it braids and idgaf
Which is why I don't say I need to "straighten" my hair. I say "flat iron". There is a huge difference if I don't do it, esp when my hair is short. It's very puffy, slightly frizzy, and the ends are curled up on one side b/c I can't blow dry with both hands. When I flat iron my hair, it's very sleek and soft, and bone straight. I cannot live without my flat iron. My hair looks ridiculous.
That one track sticking out had me like what the heck 😂😂😂 still looking absolutely beautiful in quarantine Tati! love this new setup in Seattle and I’m glad you guys are doing well and staying safe!
Defective battery - twice! I purchased my Corrale in March 2020 and it stopped working in 2021. Dyson indicated the battery issue was not repairable and they sent a a refurbished unit as a replacement. The replacement had the same battery issue and died in March 2023. Spent $500 on a device that didn’t even last 3 full years.
Serious safety question. If it's cordless, what stops it from accidentally turning on? Like a phone in your pocket... If it's in your suitcase and the button gets pressed... What actually stops it from turning on and starting a fire?
@@obviousbutitsnot yeah, I think is was the baking soda for me too! I haven't been able to pull the trigger on Lume yet. So expensive for deodorant! 😆😆
I can't use ones with baking soda in them either. I don't know where you guys are but here in Australia I live Woohoo deodorant. They might ship international?
every time I see tati buy a dyson beauty tool, I always start off thinking that's crazy! that's too expensive.... this lasts until the end of the video with me thinking, yep I need that
Some flat irons are super designed so they’re really flat (?idk how to really describe it) but I personally can’t actually curl my hair with my straightener. Still wouldn’t spend $500 on a straightener tho
It’s because she’s not taking consistent sections and untangling it while gliding evenly through. You could hear the breakage almost. If I had money to buy this I would REALLY want to do a proper tutorial!
Melanie Rodriguez nah brad mondo did a review on this iron and it does leave indents. I do the same thing she does with a significantly cheaper straightener and it doesn’t do that. So it’s not her fault
I”m going to purchase this flat iron! Let me put it this way, I purchased my first Dyson vacuum cleaner in 2006 and we just purchased a new Dyson vacuum cleaner. Their technology is just top notch! Thank you for this video!
