So much hate. Must be the whole Ford, Chevy, GMC "Fanboy" thing crossing over to bikes. I think it's still amusing that they are still benchmarking the new bikes to bikes that were last made 12 years ago and haven't changed in 20. Keep hatin' em, we'll just keep ridin' em.

Rode A Kx 500 for the 1st time in my life. i shit my pants. lmao but got right back on it was a continuous cycle. but it's a 2 stroke just love em.but that 500. IS A FUCKING BEAST if your used to 4 strokes. i suggest you stay away O_o

Two strokes 4 life!!! I like the 450f bikes,but they are SOOO damned expensive to fix,and just dont have the "pucker factor" of a two stroke. Ive just recently bought a 1987 KX 500,and cant wait till its delivered!!

I'm sorry, did they compare a 500cc two stroke with a 450cc four stroke? Besides chassis the 450 won't do better anywhere else. And even with the chassis, KX is much lighter and aftermarket parts are no problem.

Well that KX450f puts out around 45hp stock, while a new Rotax 125 2-stroke engine puts out 32hp stock! The KX500 engine isn't as efficient as that, but it should put out around 65-70hp at least.

i just blew the motor in my 86 kx500 im rebuilding it now but i wanted one sise i was a kid and now i think big bore 2 strokes are what ima stick with the rest of my life.

The funny thing is that 500 2s need about 6500 rpm to produce around 25 NM and fucking 10 hp more than a 450 produces at 12000 rpm...

They're nowhere close. A 2013 250F is a 240lb bike with 39hp. A 1989 YZ250 makes more horsepower and weighs 20lbs less. To find a 250 two-stroke that is close to a 2013 250F in terms of power to weight ratio, you'd have to go back to the twin shock era, honestly.

Smalltimr, you are right about the 250 four strokes getting closer. BUT they do it at the cost of low hours per rebuild. And a rebuild on a four stroke is EXPENSIVE. Four strokes taking over MX have priced lots of riders out of the sport. Sport is shrinking instead of growing. Bring back the braap!

It has more displacement and it's a 2 stroke. You can computerize crap; make it look all nice and shiny; but the simple fact is that the 500 will always rule; and if direct injection ever comes aorund to bikes the 4 stroke will be nothing more than a heavy hunk of farting metal.

I love both 2 and 4 strokes but because they are both Kawasaki, they are equal. And it kinda seems like a 2 stroke is twice it's size if it were a 4 stroke. For example: a KX 125 seems like it would be a 250 4 stroke. But thats just me :D GO GREEN !!!

4 stroke guys always complain that 2 strokes don't have enough torque and then they never get on it enough to even reach the power band. They just make up excuses as to why they won't ride a big bore 2 stroke.

Peter Melton gave me his lunch when I was a kid at a MX School that he did back in 85.. He was friends with my Dads apprentice (where the school was held ) That was when he was sponsored by Gaythorne Yamaha... I've been a fan ever since... He was so f'n fast , it was a sight to be seen !!! RIP Peter Melton

There's no doubt about it on a track the four-stroke hooks up, kx500 seems a little loose, more of a desert off road machine. Love your soil, looks like growing season excellent video

well then, 2 strokes are heavier since you have to add oil to the fuel, but the are atmosphericly lubricated so they cut through the air faster. every one knows it

cr500ridr On an open race course, or place desert/long distance places, but a track would be hard to beat a 450 at. 500s are great bikes, but they aren't the best on tracks

not even close...lol they were cool bikes but it wont touch the kx. outdated. shitty ergonomics. horrible brakes, suspension, air cooled and they like to get hot. I did have the pleasure of riding one long ago and I can say it was quite fun to ride though! good power for a bike of its time and can scare you at the right moment

I have ridden a 500 & a four stroke 450.........The 500 2 stroke is a way more brutal machine to ride than the 4 stroke......I never got arm pump on the 450

lol that's about the easiest and best way to put that comparison...I owned both at one time...2004 kx500 and a 02 crf450 this was years ago...but yes that 500 is a downright brutal machine and I still kick myself in the nuts for selling that bike especially since it was mint condition and last year made for them I should have held onto it for sure!!

There's a big difference in a Stock 450 compared to what the Pro's are riding, I mean, $100,000 dollars ? it adds up, stock for stock, the 2 Smoker will dominate every time, if you can hang on to it...
