Part of what made ajanba seem so untouchable was he would be extremely trolly one second and turn it on the next. He did this multiple times: Jstris Cup (vs Wumbo), TF Finale (vs whip), the aforementioned GGC (vs rideru) and a few i dont remember off the top of my head (i think Tetrio Cup 5 losers run). it really felt like he could just press the win button and there was nothing his opponent could do.
Dude, I've been searching for something like this ever since I started playing modern Tetris! I pretty much had to just skim reddit for random people's thoughts up until now. Great video as expected, Kez
I want to mention akashirobo, the one that plays kazu not long ago and overwhelmed him Also talking about the capped tetris, the best players would shift to different people I think, like I never imagined diao getting sweep by kazu in that one tetris effect tournament, I thought the difference wouldn't be that far
and overwhelmed him (in ppt2), because imo kazu is still the best in tec (cant wait for SQ1 to find out) japanese players themselves already talking about the new top2 era (akashirobo/daichan) instead of top6 era (new top2 + old top2 kazu flare + uyeshota + amemiya) for several months. but clearly this video is from western pov, so doesnt consider TOP (ajanba dominated and later diao), PPT (all japanese players play it) etc.
as a TEC player I missed that perspective in this video. Do you know where I can see the past tournament results with akashirobo and kazu? where can I rewatch the games?
@@Klauskunze99 I dont know if they have ever fight in a tournament matches, and I remember one the games of them when kazu was just playing in ppt ranked and randomly meets akashirobo, them kazu invites him to play some sets. It's quite random but there are some matches in kazu's latest livestream that starts around 6:00 (livestream march 17)
I love your videos, both informative and interesting. Undoubtedly, you must've put a lot of effort in this video. You are the best Tetris RU-vidr. Thanks for giving us so much content❤
Excellent video, really enjoyed this one. Love learning more about Tetris History. Maybe covering the classic scene could be an idea for a future video? Maybe guide line only Tetris would be nice to see also (PPT, TE:C, T99, etc)
I love the bits of humor in the video. Documentary types of videos tend to get boring after like 5 minutes for me, but this one kept me thoroughly entertained.
Kinda missing players like Amemiya (longest winning streak Edit: I mean his unbeaten streak of high level matches, not his on stream vs viewer streak) Kazu (Reaching to new levels) Furea/Flare (Skim T-spin vision like no other, also can't remember her losing in ppt long matches) Kazu and Furea are also top in other games than ppt.
@@johannes-diederik2538 Tetris Effect is modern Tetris and Guideline. You mean fast vs slow Tetris. Different category split. Modern Tetris is about 7 bag, SRS, T-spin bonus, vs mode rules.
talking about ppt, amemiya was the best but not because his 1000+ streak, it's because he was unbeaten for 2-3 years before 2019. the winning streak project is just for streaming, he didnt challenge other top players, but waited for his followers (who were also great but far from the best) to challenge him. then kazu/flare era, and i believe for several months only kazu no.1 and now it's akashirobo/daichan era. for tec i think kazu is always the best from its release to today.
@@flore_Z I was referencing the 2-3 years unbeaten as his winning streak. I actually didn't count his winning streak of what you mean or even knew it as something special given he didn't clash against strong players. Which also had a whole controversy surrounding it
Good video! I just wish that other slow tetris games were touched on more considering this was about all of modern tetris. If we included these games im sure kazu would give the throne of best player of all time some contention.
@@brilatas Exactly, which is kinda why i wish this was titled differently lol Perhaps it was simplified to best modern player for a more appealing title
@@ChronicalV In that case the video is miss-titled like i said above lol, you can't just disregard a game cause your region isn't winning. Anyways I understand why he wouldn't want to talk about the game or TE:C (he doesn't play either game to my knowledge) but at least change the title to modern fast tetris games like I said earlier
@@sawgiie When did he say that? I know that cz said it during 2020-2021 ish when cz was becoming the best player, but I don't think that it applies right now.
@@intermitttence2022 Cz said somewhere in a RU-vid comment in 2022 on how him and firestorm are even even though he has more wins against him, there’s also tetrio cup 12
@@sawgiie CZ has a habit of underestimating himself and hyping up other players, which is good for the community but it can be misleading. Anyways, that Tetrio Cup 12 was one of CZ’s worst performances in a while, but Cz managed to recover and beat Blaarg in the finals. More recently, in Tetrio Cup 14, Firestorm got extremely close to Promo and Vince, which I think better reflects his current skill level. If Firestorm is close to cz, then it stands that pretty much every other top 5-10 player is also close.
i don't think anyone ever really pointed it out but the subtitles for the first 5 ish minutes of the script was all put into 0:01 - 0:05 and idk if that was intentional or not
could you link your spreadsheet for hall of fame i get kind of nostalgic thinking back on the tetris friend days and want to see who you put on it as i recognized a lot of names
There are people in the chinese community that wanted to be able to view my guide in their language. A subtitle editor reached out to me to make chinese subtitles for that series so that's why it's like that. I have no idea how to make subtitles in different languages work on youtube so for now it is what it is and hopefully english speaking viewers don't find the subtitles that annoying. Sorree :(
