I don't think Capsakid's unpopularity is related to it's newness. Smoliv, Annihilape, Clodsire and Tinkaton won over tons of fans, like Wooloo did last gen, and Mimikyu did before that.
i hate how capsakid is only grass type, no fire whatsoever until it evolves, it lost me a pokedoku game so i’m salty i liked it somewhat before that and scovillain is a chiller tho also just sayin i didn’t vote in this video’s ranking, so i couldn’t have changed the votes
You always gotta wonder if Vaporeon really woulda been that popular, or are people just voting for the memes? Back in the day, everyone I knew viewed it as the most lame of the original 3 eeveelutions.
@@ShaedowX in the 90s, a water mermaid looking thing was incredibly lame. meanwhile fire and electricity were just cool innately, not to mention the designs were cool.
@@jmporkbob yes and no. I get that water is not seen as cool as fire or electricity. But tbh flareon could also be just a fluffy animal - the fire aspect is not that visible I would say. So in my eyes that would be more boring - because it's the most 'realistic' one.
Yeah I rarely saw anyone saying vaporeon was their fav eeveelution, jolteon or umbreon were usually the most popular ones, I'm surprised jolteon didnt manage to get in the top 20
When I saw Vaporeon being high on the list I was like “I don’t think the design is the reason for the popularity, I think it’s because of a certain copypasta…”
I'd actually be kinda cool if we could see in the list how many matchups a Pokémon won vs how many it lost. The amount of votes is actually kinda low compared to the amount of possible matchups. 1,608,153 looks like a lot of votes (because it is) but there are 1,050,625 possible matchups, meaning there are matchups that didn't even show up twice. So I'm kinda curious how much of a bias was introduced through that, how big the margin of error is.
Cascoon, and Basculin being so low kinda surprises me, Cascoon does more interesting things than Silcoon imo, and Basculin stands very well as an equal to Magicarp, especially with Basculegion. Gen 9 tried too much to push the ugly cute baby Pokémon, I think Capsakid and Flittle both fall into that. I think the eeveelutions being ranked so high isn't particularly surprising. They aren't particularly hateable, they are pretty simple and cute. Umbreon just has that edge to push it to the top.
It's too bad that Poliwhirl, the objectively coolest Pokémon mascot, got ranked 235. My other favorite, Pinsir, faired much worse, at 722. Oh well, at least I tried make them as relevant as possible.
Glad Dialga, Ceruledge and Luxray are all in the top 100. They are my #1, #3 and #6 favourite Pokémon, respectively. [6:26] This _thing_ nearly became my least favourite Pokémon after it stole my Lucky Egg in Black 2. I did get it back, though. [6:49] *_What?! No!_* Enamorus is easily in my top 100!
That’s only part of the pun. Capsakid is also a pun on Kappa which he really does look like a baby Kappa. I was very upset when he evolved and lost that entirely
When I was at school, I saw the poll, my friend looked over my shoulder and said “POKEMON SMASH OR PASS??!” Which resulted in my friends and I using the website for smash or pass over another, and some very judgy freshman judging us.
I'm not sure what I'm happier about: my favorite Pokémon of all time, Decidueye, firmly cementing it's place in the top 25 out of every Pokémon in existence, my second favorite Pokémon, Iron Valiant, proving itself cooler than every Paradox Pokémon but Miraidon, or the fact that pretty much all of my other favorites placed much higher than I expected them to(Lilligant placing above Koraidon, for example, I had no idea Lilligant is that popular).
I like how the top 20 contains a grass starter, a fire starter, and a water starter. You could make a "popular pokemon only" mini-region. It would have a lot of ghosts.
This was a very fun site to vote through Thomas. I made it to surprisingly about halfways through before I gave it a rest to do it later which then I forgot about it. Loved the design though of the site, very fun to look at and super fun to click on. :)
Honestly really curious to see how the next video turns out, gen 7 has gotten a bit of a turnaround in opinion as of late (used to be quite hated), and gen 9 is not as disliked as it was 2 years ago so It'll be interesting to see where those two end up.
If you ever redo this video if there are like 3 4 or 5 new generations, I would do the regional variant as their own entry if I were you, not only are regional very different than most form changes but 90% of regional variants are more popular than the original versions
i found out abt the poll literally like 30 minutes b4 it closed and for all those 30 minutes i was voting lmao, and then it closed and i was disappointed i couldnt more
1 sec in My guess: Lucario Runner up: Gardevoir... Edit: Hmmm.... Not the results I was expecting. The evidence was colossal... about 35k pieces to be exact
Squawkabilly really needed a boss type evolution to rival Honchcrow. Also doesnt help that their design doesn't push away from generic enough. Though I'm guessing most sour notes were from it not being able to reach the same heights as Corviknight as the designated fly pokemon.
Seeing the very first choice in the video being between Altaria (My favorite Pokémon) and Furfrou with the cursor picking Furfrou ripped my soul in two.
Silvally fans rise up! I’m pretty surprised at the least popular spot I mean Rellors not great or anything but wow I didn’t expect him to be at the very bottom Umbreon makes sense lol I freaking love Umbreon
Huh this is surprising since last time we had a pokemon popularity contest, greninja won, and in this survey it dropped quite a lot, all the way down to 39th
Anyone-else remember when Chandelure was really disliked? As someone who's always liked inanimate object Pokémon, I'm glad to see the fandom's warmed up to some of them over the years
It looks cool, creepy and cute. I think it's also a bit about execution, something like Cinderace ruins my suspension of disbelief way more than most object Pokémon. A humanoid Pokémon that's also a rabbit that plays soccer and happens to look like it's wearing clothes.
I always though Vullaby was wearing a human skull as a diaper, considering the color, shape, and even a nose hole. But i guess an eggshell is less morbid.
I definitely agree with the top result. My second favourite Pokemon especially in its shiny form. Pikachu is however my overall favourite because I’m basic 😂
Let me guess before I have seen the video, Gardevoir (Lucario is also a good option since the furry community exists and Lucario is essentially a furry design already)
@@人生は痛み I was only off by 20 which is decent, also in case other people are curious the other evolutions are Ralts at 164, Kirlia at 263 and Gallade is at 77, I have always loved Gardevoir so I knew that Gardevoir would be high but Gallade being 77 is odd to me since the whole design is just (imo) bad and I have some "bad design" that I like for example Mimikyu have an objectively bad design if you do not know the backstory but with the backstory it is great Druddigon is just another dino, Poliwrath is a roided out tadpole, Seismitoad is another roided out animal( toad in this case) and Conkeldurr is a beast but they can all be useful in a battle but Gallade just feel off to me, maybe it is just that I am a bad player but I have never manage to use Gallade effectively
It's interesting to see how people's tastes vary. Only 2 of the top 20 make my top 100 or so. (Luxray and Espeon.) But Basculin also does. Cyndaquil is also by far my least favourite of its evolution line, while Quilava makes my top 10. My favourite Pokemon ended up at 862, lol. Leafeon and Umbreon are my least favourite Eeveelutions, and my favourite, Glaceon, didn't even make the top 20.
What I learned from this was that people are more biased towards the first 4 Gens, with Gen 1 having 6 Pokemon make it into the Top 20, Gen 2 has 4 and Gens 3 and 4 have 3 each; meanwhile Gens 5 and 6 only have 1 each, Gen 7 has 2 and Gems 8 and 9 have none. So much for the argument that the Pokemon of the first Gens aren't overrated.
"gReNiNjA iS tHe MoSt OvErRaTeD pOkÉmOn EvEr" *Meanwhile, Greninja proceeds get kicked out of an ENTIRE generation, and then some. *As soon as it gets invited back in, it gets nerfed to the ground! *Ash-Greninja literally gets deleted. *Greninja isn't anywhere CLOSE to the top-20s on the popularity polls. *Despite this, nobody will ever shut up about how "overrated" it is, and if everyone and their mom has to call it overrated, it by definition isn't. Mhmm, you were saying?
While I think the current methodology perfectly fulfills what the video set out to do, I'd be curious to see how much the data changes if you try to account for (reverse) recency bias.
No Glaceon in the top 20 and my boy Groudon being shafted in favor of Kyogre? You lot disappoint me. But seriously, I liked seeing the top 20, and I'm seriously thankful that Greninja isn't on it.
Fun Fact: when you announced Eevee as #4 on the list I grabbed the Eevee wearing a St. Louis Cardinals hat and jersey I made at the Build A Bear Workshop in Busch Stadium and gave it a hug.
