i always love watching you guys react to seventeen. not only relatable but your excitement and interest always feels genuine rather than coming up with content for the sake of a reaction.
They performed this live during their Follow Again concert in Seoul 2 days before its official release along with their new unit songs. The outfit, the choreography, their voices and the crazy dance step is so amazing on stage!
Can we just talk about the concept for a second ??? The way seventeen is to combine a classical music and futuristic aesthetics is so cool and innovative. And props for special effects artists and everyone else involved in production, because this music video is a wonder to look !!! The visuals ?? Dude, this MV is everything they ate so much (I'm not complaining) !!!! Seventeen is the real conductor. Minghao's iconic line, the high grade, Jeelghan's smile, Cheol's rap and Dino, the vocals of Woozi, the footworks. Cheol and Chan hitting together ?? !! Iconic return this is a new spectacular era. Seventeen an iconic work of art .. !! 🥰👏 Thank you for this magnificent reaction.
If you look at the lyrics they actually describe the song as it's going on. It's describing what is happening or going to happen, like they are building the song as it goes. The lyrics are basically 90% that. That's what makes it genius. Like Wonwoo for eaxmple, saying he's switching up the rhythm as he's doing as exactly that and then saying he's adding in techno when that's again what was happening. The story is them creating the song. Nah genius man.
Another fun fact, Seventeen rebelling against Al taking over the music industry, by switching up unpredictable beats and mixing genres seamlessly in one song. I think this is them challenging ai by showing that ai is nothing compared to/ without humans, who still have all the control and are in charge (the real maestro), they one to tell that we humans are the real maestro. And about the mv, theyre trying to tell that instead of the robots taking over, SVT fought against it and in the end, they have control over the robots, where it follow them. Ps : There's a lot of theories on twitter, which are so interesting and explain it way better.
Woozi said he used samples from Adore U (the obvious one, the one we can even hear from the track reveal or througout the song), Fear, Oh My, Super, Hit, and their other title tracks (i forgot what else). Thats why woozi said in January that the upcoming album, they will go back to their roots. And i think thats why it sounds very different and the switch in the song has a lot of layers on it. I love that theyre experimenting a lot on this album. ALSO, just like you guys, i didnt like it on my first listen to the highlight medley also, but as always, we can never judge svt's songs from the medley alone. Just like i did with Hot, the second i heard more instruments from the song (or the longer version of the song rather than what shown in the medley) i love it immediately.
Me too! The first time it didn’t hit that much because it was so different (not that they can’t slay different but for a first reaction to it, it can sway you one way or the other easily like any song can). But it’s my 5th or so time listening to it and I gotta say it’s really growing on me. I think the LALALALA part hits more because of the drums in the background, and that’s my favorite part. They changed LALALALA that would’ve been uninteresting without instrumentals and stuff to a part that hits hard, which the choreo complements as well. Idk they always make me end up loving their songs whether it’s a title track or bside. That’s the beauty and power SVT holds. I used to think that the moment any group whose only been releasing hits after hits (imo) suddenly deviates from that means I’m sinning by not thinking that same way for everything they do (weird thought I know). But, I realized that even my fave groups who release hit after hit and make me think they can never miss, can miss every once in awhile (based on my individual preferences) and that’s okay. That doesn’t mean anything less of their talent, hard work, beauty, or anything of the sort, or that my love for them has diminished. I’m not a sinner for not liking some songs from my fave groups, and it’s nothing to worry about because I know and have faith that they have many more hits they can release in the future and I’ll be here for it. You can only top yourself and your own discography consistently for so long. There will ofc be bumps here and there, but those bumps are not a testament to their (when I’m saying “their,” I mean my fave groups and not just referring to SVT) awesomeness, rather it’s their ability to not let a song that didn’t do so well (if that’s the case for anything they do) stop them from making more bangers in the future, their creativity for the music they make, their amazing personalities and warm hearts, and/or their ability to make you end up loving their songs after multiple listens
This mv is like a grand concept of SVT vs AI. The meaning behind it is pretty much you can use as much as AI as possible but it will never be better than the real. SVT are the maestro bc they compose, produce, conduct, choreograph, write, sing, rap etc. Therefore AI will only follow the command of SVT. Through out the mv there are some scenes where AI is in concordance with svt. For instance coupsie scene and Joshi with the baton conducting on top of the piano. However there are other scenes where AI does not listen to svt. For instance, the joshi scene at the end where he is in the middle while the AI are in a circle moving backwards. Also you can see in the mv there’s a mix of glitch showing that AI is shite. There needs to be a harmony between the real and AI bc AI can be used for good. However the whole “moving too fast” comment is the vision of the AI. They tried to attack and overthrow svt but svt is too fast for the AI to comprehend. So svt pretty much using AI to visually show us that SVT are the maestro and AI will never be better than the real. As for why the leaders were missing at the beginning of the mv, people have said it might be a sign for a leaders comeback so not sure. Also the “when we heard the medley, we was not excited for this song” comment is actually so real. When I heard the medley for HOT, I was skeptical bc I’m not the biggest fan of loud music that uses constant autotune. But when I heard HOT I was obsessed. Tbf the whole FTS album is chef kiss.
I'm really excited for the dance practice❤ Btw, woozi mentioned in his commentary that he used 7 samples from their previous songs to create this new sound for SVT. Some songs mentioned were Adore U, RWY, Cheers, Aju Nice, Oh My...) You can watch everything in his commentary 🔥 Thank you!
I totally agree. The style of this song and the concept reminds me so much of Stray Kids and Ateez. Yet, Seventeen still puts on their personal touch and show their own true colours within this comeback. As a group in their 9th year, it’s not honestly not so easy to try something new and different from what you have been doing all along. Absolutely not what I expected or know from them but definitely loving it ❤
