@@Mydevineself Monotone? Chile do you even know the definition of that word? It means unexpressive which isn't what rih does here. Rih sang the song the way it needs to, Demi went over the top and was screaming which is why Demi cut the long note short.
RIHANNA 100%!! Her raspy textured voice with emotion along with that healthy belt is SO MUCH better than Demi’s strained and forced screaming. There is a big difference between properly belting and screaming!
I honestly think both did a great job. Riri’s voice sounds like she’s actually hopeless and wants them to stay. Demi sounds more like she’s screaming out to them in desperation to stay. I feel like although both give a different feeling to the song, they both can bring it to life.
Demi is a rare case. They are a strong vocalist, but with their own songs. Any cover they do they always go over the top. Unnecessary extra with the high notes.
@@kettyndhlovu722 it depends on the song. Stay is a sad song, surviving, a last pray for what seems to be lost. that's what the lyrics suggest. Demi turns it on a demand and that's it.
At the end of Demi’s lyric “stay” she messed up her lower vocal ending the word making it sound kind of sloppy but she can do better it just wasn’t her best moment
@@nameless.faceless. My point exactly. The simplicity of the song is what makes it so beautiful considering the turmoil and heartbreak her intricate lyrics depict. These extra runs and belts just ruin it imo lol.
@@endofaneraoutnow3473 Vocal range means nothing if you can't use it properly or to its full extent. Demi was screaming NOT belting, which is why Demi cut the long note short. Rih was able to continue the long note.
@@pickledolives Oh shush. Just because Demi is problematic and you don't like her as a person does NOT mean she's not talented or doesn't have any good songs. Being biased isn't smth to be proud of yk?
@@random_user182 demi has pipes but i don’t but i don’t think the song fit her and i rly only like about one song of hers 👁️👁️ it’s got nothing to do w her as a person, it’s okay to dislike a singer if it’s not your taste in music
Right? I cringed when little mermaid 2023 came out because Halle sang the notes way too high and it hurt my ears. I can’t believe people cried at her version. I can’t stand that people feel they have to shout to sing. 🤦🏼♀️
This is a very emotional song and both of them delivered in that aspect. But, like some of the other people in this comments section, I feel like Demi was overdoing it just a bit. The high notes can be included because that's what Demi's best at. The only problem is that they put the high notes in the wrong place.
There is a saying "just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should". This applies to this situation. Demi is a powerhouse whose signature is to belt her songs. However, in this case, she needed to be softer and more controlled, the belting did not work. Rihanna got this one for sure.
I'm sorry but RiRis voice is better because it's like when she sings the song it's like she's telling a story and the way she sings it is just so powerful and emotional 🤧
Rihannas tears in the official music video and the fact that she couldnt even lip sync with the words is probably the most sincere raw and deep I've ever seen a modern artist. Riri for me
No, one of the reasons that Riri's is better is that she sings it with the natural ease of vocal skill, whereas Demi is straining her voice beyond her skill level.
I hate when people say Rihanna can't sing. As a singer myself who is obsessed with the BEST vocals... sometimes simple with character is just as impactful.
I think they’re both amazing and I think they both have different styles and different voices. Honestly, I can’t pick between the two I think they’re equally amazing in their own way, according to the art that they have individually.❤️
Rianna has that low raspy feminine voice that is needed for songs like this that are close to the heart. Now Demi has one hell of a vocal range, but the Staaaaaaaayyyyyy part.... it's like she's screaming it. Needs to have meaning behind the way that part is sung.
Rihanna's E4 and that little appoggiatura before the A4 are beautiful, so colorful yet clean. Demetria on the other hand is pushing hard for that E5, sounds too shouted and you can hear a C#5 in her run back down that makes the D5 really awkward to the ear. I don't think that key works for her either.
@@Anthony.and.Bigsis I’m not saying Demi has a horrible voice I’m saying that there voices sound completely different and I’m saying Rihanna’s sounds better to me but it’s just a personal preference
Love Demi! Her voice is awesome but she interpreted what is supposed to be a ballad like a wild banshee in a mosh pit! It was pitchy and all over the place. Again she's great but this ain't it 🤦🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️
