honestly the argument that bob isn’t a fashion queen doesn’t mean anything bc rupaul isn’t known for pulling the most groundbreaking looks either…like she looks good but most of the times it’s just a dress

*watching this in 2023* I feel like Sasha Colby could also be such an amazing replacement for Ru. She’s so well-established (and was long before her time on drag race) and has made herself out to be “your favorite drag queen’s favorite drag queen.” It makes a lot of sense as well imo

Having violet or other fashions queens consistently guest judge the sewing challenges would be amazing and so entertaining. I would love watching a fashion queen critique the outfits over a celebrity guest.

I think that Bob just has the grit and ability to do it alone, and (this is not a knock or shade against this queen, but) Brooke Lynn is doing just fine over on CDR, and if she can do it, Bob can 100% do it better given her experience. And like you said, Bob is generally the most openly accepting of all types of drag, and once that RuPaul sheen begins to wain on the general public, I'm hopeful that a host like Bob will finally open Drag Race's doors to what the show deems as "unconventional" drag artists - drag kings, trans and non-binary queens, straight queens, bearded queens, bearded kings, etc.

A permanent panel of Ru-girls and rotating guests judges (celebrities, Ru-girls or non drag race queens) The permanent judges panel should include queens with established careers in their respective fields such as comedy/acting, singing/performance and fashion to make it well balanced.

I think Bob, Trixie and Raja would be such a solid judge/host trio

RuPaul/Michelle need to be replaced on every international season. Period. Them having the queens represent their home town and knowing nothing about any of these towns is an embarrassment. They impost the American style of drag on other places and do not even try to take it into consideration. They can keep America but need people from those countries to host. My best example is Spain. They had a well rounded panel than knew all of the references.

i think just introducing another drag queen to the judging panel would be a good way to set up the idea of someone replacing ru. like replacing the position carson/ross have with a permanent drag queen, or having a couple drag queens rotate the way ross and carson do. i feel like that would introduce the idea of another drag queen sitting with rupaul and make replacing ru easier (from the perspective of fans).

When Ru retires from the show, I'm pretty sure Michelle will too and Carson & Ross will follow soon after. That makes the entire judges panel open for casting for 3-4 vacancies (1 being the main host i.e. Ru's replacement, and the other 2-3 being other recurring judges). I think for the main host, Bob is a great choice. Like Alaska, Bob is a superfan of drag race and has proven herself outside of the show, and stayed relevant since her season. Personality-wise, I think Bianca would be a good replacement for Michelle (harsh and sometimes controversial criticisms, yet a motherly love), Jinkx would be a good replacement for Ross (she's a great comedy, acting, and improv queen), and Violet would be a great replacement for Carson (fashion goddess).

trixie was the only drag queen who was a judge for queen of the universe and shes in every wow project mostly and was consistently hosting pitstop… so regardless of personal bias her taking ru’s spot wouldn’t surprise me at all

Regardless of how long Ru should stay doing US seasons, I definitely think that UK and Down Under should become just "Drag Race" franchises rather than being judged by RuPaul. One of the only complaints I've had as a Brit on the first 2 seasons of Drag Race UK is the number of times when either British references go completely over Ru and Michelle's heads or when challenges feel like they ask the queens to play up stereotypes instead of interpreting the challenge naturally.

I really think Bob is the most balanced and open minded queen.

You can't underestimate how essential Ru has been to wider branding. Like the catchphrases, the songs, her voice, it's a big deal isn't it. You'd need a queen that would be willing to impress their charisma over the franchise, to have a sort of magnetism and authority that makes their judgement supreme. You need a real Mother, you know.

It’s interesting hearing Katya cited as a possible reason people wouldn’t be receptive to Alaska, when Katya herself said Ru’s protege is undeniably Alaska.

Honestly I’d love to see Bob’s Drag Race, she’s such a funny and kindhearted queen I think she’d be a great choice. I could say the same for Symone, I’d be really happy with either of them.

Symone doesn’t just remind me of a young rupaul, I think Symone reminds RU of a young rupaul. Her or Bob would be my top picks.

I would love to see a trio instead of just one queen, and I want to see queens who really GET IT. I would love to see Bob, DeLa and Alaska being judges TOGETHER.

one thing that I would like to mention about alaska is that she already hosts and runs her own annual pageant. for those that don't know, she started her own pageant, the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition. despite alaska's love for drag race, her pageant works almost against drag race, as it's used mostly to showcase all forms of drag including bio queens, drag kings, alternative queens, etc, that drag race is known to ignore. I personally think she is a great host of the pageant, and that her hosting drag race might open up the doors for more inclusivity since that's the main goal of her own pageant. Is it likey she would host? not really. but she's one of my favorites and I think she'd be great for the franchise :)

Bob to me is the obvious choice. She kind of showcases everything a replacement would need on We're Here. Shes compassionate and understanding to individuals of all backgrounds, drag inclinations, etc. She manages a large team that aids her in bringing her looks to light (literally every single look on season two was a shoot). She's incredibly likeable and charismatic, and not to mention she's outrageously funny. Her comedy special's are incredibly well-reviewed, she's emmy-nominated, and she knows how to create a certified bop and market herself. She has the biggest non-WOW review show on RU-vid (Sibling Watchery/Purse First Impressions), and she actively loves the franchise. There is no one more qualified.

Even before RuPaul retires, I think it would be cool to see former queens on the show in judging/teaching positions. Everyone's said about how they should have Bob or anyone else write and direct comedy challenges instead of... whatever goes on currently, like how they had Alyssa teach choreo that one time. But I also think it would be great if each week there was a rotating spot on the panel for a former contestant relevant to that episode! Queens like Gottmik or Raja or Raven for a fashion challenge, Jinkx or Dela for Snatch Game, etc. Think about how excited people get when queens they love show up as lip sync assassins on All Stars - imagine that every episode when your favourite former queen makes a cameo on the panel. And just imagine seeing the contestants sweat when they hear Violet is going to be judging the ball. Currently, this probably won't happen because there is no way Ru would let another drag queen on the same panel as him (probably out of fear of him getting shown up). But I think it would be a really neat idea for them to try! And it would help to have someone on the judging panel actually know what you are going through as a fromer contestant.

Of the winner's circle we have right now, I think it's really between Bob and Trixie, actually it SHOULD be Bob AND Trixie. Giving the role to 1 queen are big shoes to fill. It's inevitable that people will point out the "weaknesses" of the queen replacing Ru. I think that Bob and Trixie compliment each other well as hosts and cover each other's weaker points. They've shown they have chemistry when Bob had to fill in for Katya on the Trixie and Katya show. They're also the most "commercial" of winners and the ones with the most active connection to the franchise. Certain winners who are also great choices are a little too detached to the franchise making them sorta unlikely to be chosen like as you said Alaska and Bianca. I do get the case for Symone as they're very well received and of the recent winners was the one who made a huge mark with Ru. They would be a great choice to continue pushing for the newer audience. But yeah they're a little bit green to be given the job I think. The ideal situation for me is to have Bob and Trixie, then a rotating panel for the other winners and other established queens like Shangela and Dela, then a celebrity judge. Although the All Winners season is around the corner and we don't know maybe there would be other names thrown in the mix. One last thing I think it's for the best that Ru let's go of the UK series and Down Under and have their respective winners or any reputable personality take over the spin offs. If we're getting more international All Stars then it's better for him to focus on the main franchise, US All Stars and the international All Stars.

I think Michelle should stay on after Ru leaves for a bit as a transitional period. I would say Bob, Violet and Michelle together! Not one host but the three of them sharing the role. And bring back other queens in rotating judge roles like they do with Ross and Carson

I absolutely love Symone, but she’s just so young. Again, maybe in a few years. Until then, Bob would have my vote with Raja as her Michelle.

My own take on this is that the winner of all winners season should be given the opportunity first as to whether they want to accept the position when Ru retires. This being said, it’s been hinted at that Jinkx Monsoon is likely the strongest contender and I think would be an amazing host and I think she would accept because she generally has less on her plate than super exposed queens like Bianca. If not Jinkx, I think it would/should be Bob or Trixie.

I feel like both Bob & Trixie TOGETHER would be a good fit. When I see them together in a interview their chemistry is absolutely insane.

I honestly think Shea would make a great host-- she's one of the most well-rounded and knowledgable queens and she's funny and shady but also can be warm. Like thinking about all of the Shea/NBB stuff in Season 9 I think she handled it really well in a way that would make her a great host

I'm definitely down for Bob or Symone or the rotating panel. I'm a big Trixie fan, but I don't think she'd want to do it to be honest. She's always working on 10 different things at a time, so I don't think she'd wanna be tied down by being the host, like you said. She can be part of the rotation tho, that'd be cute.

I know Dela and shangela dominated their all stars but I feel like the trixie controversy was a but overblown I mean the only challenge she messed up on was snatch game and even then she was the third worst so you can't say she didn't slay the competition honestly I just think shangela, Dela, and trixie had massive winner energy and would've deserved it

Imagine a full panel with: Bob the Drag Queen, Violet, Trixie and Symone (or Gottmik)? Get rid of Michelle, Ross and Carson and a full panel of diverse drag queens with opposite points of views

Nicki Doll is hosting Drag Race France. And even she wasn’t high in placement on S12, she is an AMAZING host. Like it’s very genuine and the Season feels right. She is funny, she makes good critiques and she has a nice presence on the show. If you didn’t watch Drag race France i highly recommand you to watch it it’s great

Bob is hilarious, experienced, talented, and wise enough to critique the girls but also maintain the show’s funny and lighthearted nature. I watch her Purse First Reviews and she brings up so many nuanced perspectives.

Out of this list I definitely think Bob is the stand-out pick. I think the new host would also need to fill the role of a producer as well since Ru is also the executive producer. We’ve had some AWFUL seasons that really came down to some bad producer riggory, and I think Bob has the leadership and vision to truly change the course of Drag Race. I also think Trixie would also make for a great producer, since she has an eye for what makes good content branding, and TV, though the likelihood of her filling the role is far less than Bob. but I do pose another option: Jinkx Monsoon

Hear me out - Bob and Violet🤪 Bob is SO well rounded, all over, has the big personality, respects all types of drag and has the big personality to host the show. Violet replacing Michelle, knows her fashion and can be the lead in what there is to say about the runway. Although you have good bonds with monet etc etc, Monet wouldn’t add anything Bob didn’t already apart from their humour and rapport together. And I feel like Bob and Violet would work really well together from seeing videos of them🤷🏻‍♂️

I think replacing rupaul with a pair of hosts, one specializing in runway and looks and the other specializing in performance, would be a good solution. Violet and Trixie, Raja and Bianca, something like that. Then all the bases are covered and the weight of replacing ru wouldn’t fall just onto one queens shoulders.

Bob would be the best. She has tv experience, she won her season, she has a podcast with Mo, and she is one of the most knowledgeable about all the queens both during and after their seasons.

absolutely agree, bob would be an incredible pick for the show. she's also super knowledgable on drag race and still does reviews (sibling watchery/purse first impressions) so that is definitely an added bonus. monet, bob, alaska and willam actually did a drag race trivia night on the sibling rivalry patreon that was super funny. bob is the moment

I would love for Courtney to replace Ru because if you watched her on Celebrity Big Brother in the UK you know she’s full of integrity and push for equality when it comes to drag culture so I feel if Courtney would take the job there would be a HELLUVA lot more representation for kings, trans and cis performers

Honestly I do think that The Vivienne, with support from Alan and Graham, would be a great host for Drag Race UK, maybe with Lawrence (plus Krystal and future winners, but I see Lawrence having the experience and humour advantage here) on a form of co-host rotation depending on the challenge. I can also see a couple of format changes with Ru gone that could give the whole show more of a feel of a British show. Like, I could imagine The Vivienne being the main in-studio host but perhaps Lawrence goes out roaming on the streets with a microphone for public opinions, or in clubs and bars. That could be fun, and you'd get some iconic British public quote moments.

If my I was rupaul I would cancel the whole franchise, let the younger ones start their own show. New beginnings and new shows. No way I will let no one take my legacy and perhaps smear it or make it fail.

I know this will never happen, but I would love to see Willam as a host. Looking at all the behind the scenes interviews and deleted scenes (her standing up against Sharon using the n-word, requiring better treatment on set, apparently volunteering to lip sync for her life since she was team captain) she could be a great host and mentor who would also make sure the queens are treated like humans.

I'd have said that they should do similar to Canada's Season 1 with guest hosts BUT those hosts are past winners and which episode they host is geared to what they are known for. Violet = Ball Challenge, Bianca = Stand Up, Raja = Design Challenge, Jinx = Acting Challenge, Trixie = Singing Challenge etc. EDIT: That idea has been included

I would say Manilla, but she is already starting her own show. Otherwise I think bob the drag queen or Raja would be great, or jujubee. Even if someone of the younger queens are great, I don’t think most of them have the maturity to take over for Ru.

Bob is definitely the best pick for now, and I could definitely see other famous queens coming as guest judges each episode/season. I know we all love to see older and famous queens come to visit the girls on the show, and I'd love to see more of that. With a change in host, it could be the occasion to bring those talented and iconic queens to judge as well. It would create a stronger sense of community and could give for amazing tv moments.

I think there's a very strong case for Raven taking over. I don't wanna post a whole essay on it, but it's clear she's the girl Ru trusts the most out of them all (obviously, she does Ru's makeup ffs), and I mean it's not like she's got a background job even--Ru brings her into the Werkroom and along onto various TV appearances too. The precedent is set for Ru to let Raven take over. If she said "I'm stepping down and now Raven will be the host," I would not be surprised.

First of all, great video as per usual. I do think that a lot of the fandom would probably agree with your choices, especially Bob. A rotating panel of queens would be nice as well, especially if the cast is diverse and excels at different things so as to properly judge the variety of challenges. I’m actually curious to hear what your choices might be for your own personal fantasy season. Now that Uk vs the World is a thing, anything is a possibility.

In general, I think it would be a great idea for Bob and Symone to sort of be co-hosts? And then, have a revolving panel, of course, but with a few mainstays. Having someone like Trixie or Raven who knows a lot about makeup, Violet or Raja for fashion, Shangela or Alyssa for choreography, etc.

I think that you forget about one important thing why consider Trixie: She has a really good interactions with everyone on the screen ! And none other queen has that (in my opinion)

Bob makes the most sense as a middle judge. He gets irreverent humor, appreciates high fashion, knows references, etcetcetc

I think the fact that Raven is given her own reality show and by how Ru particularly fond of Bob, it's safe to say that these two are the high contenders for the Ru-spot :p

Roxxxy Andrews lowkey would be iconic as a host, because she knows how to be both a front runner and a flat lining contestant, and I think she would be able to actually treat the girls better. Kennedy would also be a great one for the same reason. We stan miss Kennedy Davenport.

i LOVE violet but trixie did say that the pitstop episode with violet was heavily edited down, she apparently was a lot more rude/critical. they can always ask her to “lower down” her personality, but i’m not sure if she’d do that

Hi - just side note here. You mentioned that Shangela has not won the show which works against her. I disagree - Brooklyn won nothing, and arguably had less "TV moments" and "Fan Reaction" than Shangela had, and yet Brooklyn is the host of Canada's Drag Race two seasons in a row.

I think Bob is by far the best option for Host, for all the reasons listed. I think she’d be better than Ru currently is/has been. I would then replace Michelle with Alaska as Head Judge. Then as a duo would be pure excellence. I’d then have Nicole Byers and Rachel Bloom rotating as the new Carson/Ross and helping with songs/writing/directing challenges which would heavily help the level of comedy challenges by bringing actual parody and satire back into the show. And then have the guest judges be one Celeb Dawl, and one alumni contestant that serves as mentor for the week, kind of like the rotating idea. Dela is Snatch Game mentor, Utica/Raja for a Sewing Challenge; Trixie for Branding; Venus D Lite for a Madonna Rusical etc. I also think the duo of Bob and Alaska smoothed over a lot of the controversial feuds Ru himself has with multiple alumni. People like Willam, Courtney, The Vixen, Pearl, Tamisha and more, hurt The show’s reputation due to Ru himself. But all of these are on better/civil terms with Alaska and/or Bob, and that means moving forward Production can attempt to mend those bridges which would help the show’s reputation.

Hear me out… a Trio of Bob, Violet, and Alaska with Bob being the main mentor Rupaul figure, Violet filing in the beauty/ fashion critique and Alaska bringing the overall drag encyclopedia references knowledge. Then two rotating guest judges.

if top model taught me anything it's that when the main host leaves the franchise it all goes down hill...

I personally feel like alaska, trixie, and peppermint would all make outstanding hosts, but only time will tell. I do really like the rotating queen judging panel idea tho.

Personally I think that Shangela would be the best fit, because 1) she has been there almost from the start of the franchise, but has continued to keep relevant untill this day, 2) she IS the working girl who is sooo sooo good in making a name for yourself. And as the "new leader" of the franchise you need that. Tbh I don't think being a winner is totaly neccesary, look at Brooklyn for example, and I think the fact that Shangela probably would have won if it wasn't for the jury twist speaks in her favor.

I always thought Asia O'Hara would make a great replacement. She has such a radiant, motherly energy, gives great advice, and is good in a lot of domains ; comedy, acting, fashion... I'd just really like to see her do it ! And her speech in the season 10 reunion after the Vixen left, about how Drag queens are meant to help one another, that the LGBT community needs to land a hand to those who cry for help, I thought it was amazing, and she's just a treasure.

Shangela is lacking charisma as evidenced by her lack of rapport when working with many of the other queens. Many simply don't like working with her.

Alaska & Bob are my top choices and I'd like to see them do it together. I love them both & they're super great performers & they work well with each other. 💚

I honestly think Raja is more likely than we think. Not only does she have the talent, she also has the same confidence, experience and maturity that comes with age (which Rupaul also have) and I think that’s very important for a host to take over for Ru. She’s also very well known to WOW, hosting fashion photo review and she knows Rupaul probably better than a lot of the other winners. I could also imagine her wanting to take the job as I think she enjoys keeping up with the show, a lot of the other people on the list doesn’t really care much about the show anymore (Bianca, Violet). I’d definitely place her over Violet, but yeah the only issue is probably her lack of connection to the younger fans I guess.

I think Bob and Alaska would be great hosts and judges. They’ve already done it on Dragula and are more open on different types of drag and they know fashion and makeup, although not extensively as the look queens but well enough to have an eye for looks. Others mentioned here such as Symone and Shangela are charismatic but not well enough to be a host. They do make great TV but the guidance portion of being a judge or host doesn’t feel enough.

imo if a rpdr queen were to replace ru, they would def need to have had a lasting impact on the community, for example bob, trixie, alaska. i also think they should have won a crown, securing a somewhat “rupaul” level of drag status. detailed knowledge of the history of drag and pop culture is also super important too.

i would LOVE to see different queens as guest judges on the panel, depending on the main challenge of each week! i think it makes so much sense, especially when you look at pit stop and how well that works (e.g violet discussing s13 ball episode, bianca discussing the improve comedy challenge and jan talking about the rusical). with there being so many ru girls now and many having a large following, i think it'd add an extra element of surprise and excitement to the show for fans, while giving these queens more exposure to casual viewers!!

No Bias here, The 3 queens that I could see taking over the US version would be Bob, Raven or Symone. Then for Uk probably The Vivienne and I would love for Courtney to take over down under (just not sure if Ru would allow that😬)

God. This is SUCH a hard question to answer! (Good on ya, Jack, for attempting to do so!!) Now, should they pick just one queen to takeover for Ru, I’d have to go with Bob, personally. Having said that, I would rather retire the rest of the judges along with Ru and replace them _all_ with queens. (As the executive producer, the show would _still_ be called _RuPaul’s_ Drag Race. And Ru would also be the get last guest judge every season as well.) So then we’re back to deciding which queens to replace Ru, Michelle, Ross, and Carson with. Hahaha. Now, while there are _several_ different ways to make the decision, as well _tons_ of wonderfully capable and extremely talented queens to choose from, I would personally want to go with four (obviously) amazingly talented queens whom also have astounding, and already proven chemistry along with great success. (These two qualifications are basically a surefire way of ensuring that the show remains entertaining AF. I also decided that it would make the most sense/be the most “fair” that all four queens are also winners!) So, having said all of that, the four queens that I would go with (In alphabetical order.) Bob The Drag Queen, Jinx Monsoon, Monét X Change, and Trixie Mattel. Not only are all four of these queens _amazingly_ talented, as well as _incredibly_ successful, they also each have truly _phenomenal_ chemistry with one another. Which would most certainly make for an awesome viewing experience. Anyway, that’s what *I* would do when Ru eventually retires! (Of course this would all be dependent on whether or not each one of these queens would be willing to join the show in this capacity. Which, honestly, who knows if they would or not!)

I've always thought finding more opportunities to have Drag Race veterans return to the show would be such a treat for fans. Like, have a veteran queen serve a mentor role in the work room similar to Tim Gunn in Project Runway, or have queens like Alyssa and Laganja do the choreography for dance challenges, and queens like Jinkx, Adore, Trixie for musical challenges, and also just have more actual queens on the judging panel. I mean, they love to keep bringing back Jujubee; why not have her as a regular judge instead of putting her through the ringer again and again. And I think that would be a great way to sort of test the waters for a potential new host if/when Ru retires. All of that aside, I think Bob is definitely the best fit to fill Ru's shoes, and I would love to see it. I think she has a maturity and gravity that would work super well as a host, and it would be cool to see Monet or Pep filling a Michelle Visage kind of capacity.

Surely Ru has people lined up to replace her, if God forbid, anything happens to her. That is one massive empire she has, from what I’ve heard about the contracts the contestants must sign. The music business part alone is one of the most lucrative aspects.

Good video, overall I agree that Bob and Symone seem like the best picks. two points I didn't hear mentioned in the video, (1) Ru was about 48-49 when the show started, and i'm wondering if having a new host be around the same age would be desirable (2) I wonder how some of these queens may translate to hosting, here I'm thinking of watching Brooke Lynn Hytes on season 11 to her hosting Canada's Drag Race. It felt like there were some growing pains there. Maybe going forward instead of having guest celebrity judges (who half the time don't add much) they should have past contestants/queens on. The danger there is that many queens have connections with each other, lack of bias, and the show becoming completely self referential, but it would still be an interesting opportunity to see how potential future hosts act as a guest judge.

I think Trixie should do it, she is the most successful, she knows what drag is, she is shady..... I know she is not a fashion queen but her lewks are improving and it's now at impressive level, but I can see Bob doing it too, she just needs a makeup artist for her and she is ready to go.

i think raja would do a really good job!! she is so intelligent, empathetic and open-minded. and seeing how she critiques on fashion photo ruview, i think she is very fair

I’ve seen a comment under another video saying if they did an All-Winners season the winner of that could take over the show. Could be an interesting idea and way to do it.

Should honestly be hosted by a panel of 5-6 diverse drag queens (comedy, beauty/body, fashion, pageant, non-traditional, performance)

Bob is my favourite queen so I’m pretty biased but I think she’d do an amazing job at judging because she’s knowledgable and balanced. I watch her reviews of the show now and I think she’d be perfect for a new generation of Drag Race. She’d make it new and different while still respecting what had come before. It would be cool to see other popular queens as judges or guest judges

I feel like Ru is definitely setting up Raven to replace her one day. Raven gives advice in almost every season nowadays and if she doesn’t give advice in the werkroom, she is a guest on the snatch game or is featured in another way. Raven is also close to Ru and is on set for every episode. Therefore she has lots of knowledge about the production part of Drag Race etc. Giving her her own show also shows that they want to test her judging skills.

I agree with those rankings. But I think it would be cool to see maybe co-hosts, or change the hosts per season. I say co-hosts, because the other drag shows I've seen had two hosts and I like it because they can play off of each other (referring to the Boulet Brothers and the Sugarbaker Twins of Camp Wannakiki). It just brings more of a fun element to see the main hosts work together and it can get some much more comedic moments than just one person interacting with a group. I also wonder if the torch was passed, if we'd see kings on the show. I know some contestants have dressed in male or more androgynous styles, but no one who was known for being a drag king.

Great video. Rational all made sense. I'm for a split between a 2 host for the 2 variations via project runway. One regular host for the regular season. One different host for all stars. Symone, Shangela or Trixie for the regular season. They're current, all did extremely well yet had some real struggles along their journeys and can be empathetic while being fair in their critiques of the first time contestants. Queens who showcase a more full history of drag race, have the references and established connections, and can be more harshly critical of the returning Queens (for the better) as well who completely dominated their respective runs like Bob, Alaska or Bianca could be great to host the all star seasons.
